I'm writing this review, without having received any service. I simply made a phone call, and am writing to provide impressions.

I called to get an estimate on a sump pump exam and replacement, and they noted that they are only handling ""emergency requests"". I asked for anything in the next year, and they said that COVID was leading to problems, recommending that I call around. They noted very clearly that they were not free. The number listed on Yelp was incorrect.

The business representative was clear that ""they"" are not available. He didn't know the reps and added that Matt, the primary owner, was injured.

If you are looking for an estimate, keep in mind that it appears that they are having staffing / operational challenges.

Richard's Plumbing used to be awesome, but I won't be using them again. The person I spoke with today was rude and unhelpful. The last couple of times I spoke with them, I ended up going elsewhere. One time they told me they didn't have the equipment for the job and the second time they didn't have the staff. This morning was a staffing issue - I was told it would be a couple of weeks before they could get to it and as the job isn't an emergency I said that would be fine. He told me no, he wasn't even going to book it and I could call back. I've been using them for 15 years...no more.

Previously, we were quite happy 3x with their response time & work, but this time the owner(?) sounded exasperated, inconvenienced and annoyed, while repeatedly explaining his employee issues, and telling me to call around instead. I really do understand things happen, but since I work in customer service for 26 years, I'm quite disappointed. Could've instead used a voicemail to answer the phone POLITELY explaining that they' re backlogged, and approximate future service time frame? Why bother answering at all w/ an attitude? Not a great impression on loyal & new customers . Regretfully, we won't be calling or recommend them again..

I needed a plumber last minute for a toilet issue in an apartment in Northampton back in December 2018. I also needed a plumber who would be flexible with timing given other work that was being done in the apartment. I called Richard's and they had availability. They were originally scheduled for an afternoon call, but I had to push the appointment to the next morning.

Richard's was very accommodating and understanding. I like that they are honest and straightforward. They showed up on time, were very professional, and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes. I would highly recommend!

So, sure, these guys are pricey, as plumbers are, but I am updating to 5 stars because they answer the phone, don't scare tactic you into work you don't need (happened with another local plumbing company to me), and I 100% trust that they will figure the situation out correctly. Honestly, I trust these guys with any plumbing issue I have had. Real life example: this morning I called at 7:45 because my sump pump wasn't working quite right (my basement will absolutely immediately flood without it) and they squeezed me in between appointments and were here by 8:30.

Called for minor kitchen under sink help and advice and was told they were buried with work and nothing they could do.
Thanks for playing though. Bah. Wanted to go local first before I roto-rooter it, lesson learned.

The guys from Richard's Plumbing helped us on very short notice. They let us know when they were coming, and did a fabulous job. They replaced our bathroom faucet, and their choice of a fixture was perfect - and I am a very picky woman. They also diagnosed our kitchen sink faucet, and gave expert advice. We are SO grateful!
