Kyoko R.Richard and his crew were always on time, super professional, clean the site, and very polite. He replaced our old furnace in two days, and stayed right on the estimate. It's so nice to know these amazing professionals still exist. Now I know where to call when I need a new water heater. Thanks, Richard.
C B.Richard's Plumbing just finished replacing my 50 year + furnace and duct system in my house and he did a fantastic job. I now have heat in my house and very pleased with the results. Richard is patient and explained many options and even recommended moving my heater to a different location to maximize comfort and I regained a sizable chunk of my basement. He and his crew actually left my house better than before fixing one of my doors unrelated to the heating job.
Rarely have I met a contractor who is as honest. He also explained that since I replaced my windows last year and already took $1500 tax credit, I didn't qualify for the stimulus money this year. This was said by any other heating company contacted during the process even though I mentioned my windows in each case. Instead all the others emphasized a net price which included $1500 off the top. Richard was the only one who told me that I didn't qualify at this point for a second $1500 tax credit because the maximum for 2008-2010 was $1500. This took some courage since his price might not otherwise seem to be the lowest price.
Having worked with home improvement contractors in the past who weren't up to snuff, I'm really happy to say that Richard has all the qualities we were looking for in a contractor: honesty, top-notch workmanship, and a seemingly endless amount of patience with all of our questions. Plus he's just about as friendly and nice as you can be!
We worked with him in October 2009 to replace our ancient heating system and hot water heater. He gave great advice on the best systems for our needs, and provided the work at a fair price. In addition, we were super impressed with Richard's follow through. For example, although the actual installation took a week (which was totally in line with his estimate), thanks to some persnickety City planning department's regulations, his crew had to come back and do some extra work so that we could get an official sign off on our work permit. Richard was totally on top of getting this final work done and making sure it was up to spec.
I'd recommend Richard and his crew to anyone without reservation!
I knew I would hire Richard when we spoke. Honest, competent and devoted to quality work, and he really cares about his customers. Furthermore, the free estimates, exceptional materials, and kindly service made working with him a pleasure. He fitted our 1922 house with a new furnace and did it all in 3 days. And though he was much cheaper than anyone else, he takes credit cards so we earned a few flyer miles too!
Julia S.Richard is everything I could imagine wanting in a plumber: careful, skilled, honest, reasonably priced. I got quotes from several other plumbers in the area before settling on Richard.
Richard Grodecki replaced our old furnace and heating ducts. We are completely happy with the installation and service, and would definitely use him again. We got bids from two other larger companies. Richard's bid was the lowest. Even though he had so many great reviews on Yelp, at first we were a little hesitant to go with him only because he seems to be a smaller company. We're glad we listened to the Yelp reviews. It not only saved us money, but Richard has been great to work with, is very honest and straightforward. A day after the installation was complete there was a problem with the furnace - not Richard's fault - and within a couple of hours of calling Richard he was at our house and had it fixed. Could not ask for better service.
Kimi L.Called twice and left messages. Never even got a call back.
christine c.Richard is truly and honest, easy to work with. We had an in line water heater and a washer in dryer in an upstairs tiny room. Our young boy is going to need a room of his own soon, and so we decided to coopt this room. I was so impressed with the solution Richard came up with, the loud water heater went up into the attic, the washer and dryer went on the first floor under the stairs. The whole job took two days and the guys keep the place clean and put everything back when they were done.
I can't recommend Richard more, AND he came back when I admitted I couldn't figure out why the tap wasn't turning off completely at the kitchen sink. And he didn't make fun of me when it turned out it was a simple right in my face issue! Not only professional, but completely nice too.
I'm just going to amend this because we lost contact with Richard, after a few calls to tie up loose ends with our system, we ended up going with another plumber. Sad, cause I really enjoy working with Richard!
Aksel O.We now have a pleasantly tempered house after deciding to have our antiquity of a floor furnace (which was great for heating the hallway, but not really anything else in the house) replaced. We picked Richard based on good ratings on this site, and were very pleased with the process from start to finish. Richard came up with a plan for return air which used our limited available space (in a 1,000 sqft house) very efficiently, while he and his crew installed and tested it with minimal intrusion and great attention to after-hour cleanliness, which was great given our now crawling baby. They also patched our walls seamlessly, and finally send us on our way towards getting a $1,500 tax credit towards installation costs.
I would absolutely recommend Richard - and I am not a personal friend, nor did I know him before he did our work. Richard installed central heating in our new (to us) Berkeley home. We got 3 other bids and his was lower, but he also included more in his bid -- he really goes the extra mile to do an excellent job. Richard was absolutely great to work with. He communicates really well, and has an extremely professional approach to the job. The final price was exactly the bid, except for 2 extras that we asked him to do (sheet rocking and dryer vent repair) that weren't part of the bid. They were extremely reasonably priced, he did not jack up the price of the add-ons like some contractors do. The work was done neatly, we were consulted on every decision, felt listened to and respected. While he was moving the new furnace to under the house and taking out the old furnace he (for no additional charge) also cleaned out tons of garbage (broken up cement, empty paint cans, coal!) that the previous owners had left there. He did not charge us extra , he just wanted it to be done right. Richard takes pride in his work, does a great job for a fair price. Highly recommended!
