I would totally recommend Rich Mathews & son for any of your plumbing and heating needs
Rich saved our vacation this year and after the COViD lock down we needed it.
It was Sunday night on the first day of our vacation when my daughter called and said there was no hot water in the house. Having a burnham he furnace ,not many plumbers work on them. I google searched and found Rich Mathews. I sent an email and he immediately called back. We talked for a while about the situation. He knew what the problem probably was and told me he wasn't going to be able to help right away, I said I could wait ,but he knew someone who could get there sooner. This was about 8 pm on a Sunday night. He gave me the number of a guy he just spoke to that could help. Within 10 min. Andy DelloRusso called me. Rich had told him of my situation and was able to come out the next day to make the furnace repair.I never expected such a kind gesture to give a job away so a potential customer would be able to get immediate service.

Rich Mathews & Son provided A+ service to my family and I this past winter. We had an issue with our heat on a Sunday evening and Rich was at my house within 15 mins. Not only did he fix everything in a timely manner, but he made sure to check in multiple times throughout the next couple of weeks to make sure everything was working correctly.

I'm not sure why Rich doesn't have more reviews posted on Yelp but don't let that detour you. Rich recently installed a boiler in my condo. He is the most proactive contactor I have ever worked with. Also personable, responds to questions quickly, has fair prices. I highly recommend working with him.

Can't say enough about Rich. I woke up around 5am to find our furnace fan running but not igniting. Called 10 places trying to get someone out that day and was turned away until we called Rich who mentioned he lived nearby and was happy to come by that morning. After 2 hours of working on the furnace he had everything up and running, provided us with all the information on what he did and what to keep an eye on, and best of all he didn't even charge us! Just a genuinely nice guy who really helped us out in a pinch.

Rich is fantastic.

I purchased a multi-family with a pair of ~30 year old Williamson Furnaces, and had multiple people evaluate the furnace / water heater situation. Rich was the most knowledgeable, honest, and up-front person I met. He holds himself and his work to a very high standard, and will take care of you as a client. He performs the work himself, and explains why he is doing things a certain way. He was also the only person who offered an explanation of why the units had different ductwork styles and fuel sources.

Rich coordinated an oil tank removal company, removal of the old units, and delivery of the new. He has a wealth of knowledge that one can only develop with experience. The installs are very clean, and he exceeded my expectations with the direct venting exhaust pipes. I have recommended Rich to friends and family, and will continue to do so.

Rich saved the day when our water heater decided to turn into an indoor fountain. He answered my call promptly, even though he was on another job, and came out on a Saturday morning, with a replacement.

Not only did he do a top-notch install, he even cleaned up the previous frankensteined copper piping coming to the tank, and filed a permit with the town for us. Rich's work is professional and neat, and he was charming to chat with as he was working.

Someday, we may have him straighten out the odd spaghetti of radiator hoses that were installed by whoever the previous owners hired. But for now, our basement is dry and we have plenty of hot water. Thanks Rich!

I had flooding in my house due to an auto filling issue with my steam boiler. I called Rich, who I found here on Yelp, and he actually walked me through the whole process of correcting it. He could easily have charged me for an appointment to come out and look at it, but he instead walked me through a very simple process on how to remedy the problem and he didn't charge me a penny.

Super nice, honest and knowledgeable guy. I will be giving him a call next time (knock on wood) I have any issues.

I found Rich on Angie's List and gave him a call because the reviews he had were so good. I left him a message and he called me right back and we made an appointment for later that evening. Rich was there on time and was extremely nice and informative on my extremely old boiler system, water heater and the oil to gas conversion that was going to take place. Rich then sent me a quote in the mail which wasn't the cheapest but far from the most expensive that I had received and we decided that he was the best guy for the job. Prior to starting the job my husband and I noticed that one of our radiators started leaking and another was extremely loud. Therefore, I called Rich and he came out within a half hour and remedied the problem. When he came to start the job he was always dependable and willing to answer any questions. Rich was so personable that my husband and I looked forward to getting home and having small talk with him. One Saturday he came to do some work and brought my husband and I some AMAZING scones that he gets from one of his other clients and let me just say, they were to DIE for. How many people can say that they got breakfast from their plumber and above that enjoyed having them around?! As far as Rich's work is concerned, the boiler and water heater came out beautifully, when you have steam heat it truly is an art form and Rich is quite the artist. Our basement was literally cleaner when he left then it was when he came in. Needless to say, Rich will be the guy I call with all my plumbing issues.

Rich replaced our 30+ year old boiler and 10+ year old hot water tanks with a Burnham Alpine High Efficiency Gas Boiler and HTP Superstor Indirect Fired Water Heater, including new circulation pumps, expansion tank, relays, electrical, all associated components, permits, the whole nine yards.

Rich also introduced us to the Mass Save Energy Audit program and the rebates and financing options available through that program.

An exceedingly personable guy, he was easy to get ahold of via phone, text, or email and always responded promptly. He completed the job on budget and a month ahead of schedule.

Rich is a true craftsman and cares not only about the quality of his work and the systems that he installs, but also about his customers, treating their home with the care and consideration that he would his own.
