I'm not one of those people that call plumbers willy-nilly. But Iv been dealing with water backing up at my downspouts for years and I had enough of that. I called Rescue Rooter and they had Steve out to my home with in an hour. I explain the problem to him and he wrote me up a cost for doing the job. When I woke up from the smelling salts I told Steve to go ahead and get to work. (money well spent) I found out that I have dry well on one side of my home and the other side leads to the street. Steve explain to me that there was a back flow of all kinds of junk coming out of the pipe. But now the water drains right through and that in itself is a relief. There are times you can do the job yourself and save some money but you may be doing more damage then good if you let things go.

Alex & Dave came out on a Sunday and cleared a clog in out sewer line for $99.

This was after a quote from Sarkinen Plumbing of $1350 for the same job.

Mr Rooter quoted us $655 for the job.

Alex & Dave explained what was going on every step of the way and how to correct the problem permanently. Showed us the camera view. Provided multiple estimates. Answered ALL our questions.

While assisting a neighbor across the street, Dave and Matt from Rescue Rooter Jack Howk, let me interrupt them and I shared that I think we may be experiencing the same plumbing issue. They kindly offered to check on our place as well, delivering exceptional service with a friendly attitude. Their professionalism and dedication were outstanding, going above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend them for their excellent customer service and expert plumbing skills!

Rescue Rooter came out to give me a bid to clean/pressure jet a 12-inch drain next to my driveway. The technician gave me a quote of $850. When I asked if there were any senior/veterans' discounts, he said there was, then raised my quote by $100 (now $950). He then said he applied the $100 discount, to bring it to the original price of $850. Didn't sound right, or fair. I felt I was being taken advantage of.

These guys were great! We had a massive line break and water flooding our backyard and into the street on a Saturday morning. We called at least 20 other companies before Rescue Rooter came to our rescue! They were timely, responsive, professional and kind. Highly recommended!

company doing the work- So this is not directed so much at Rescue Rooter, but at whomever they contract to handle bookings for them:
Like many others in the PDX area, trying to find a plumber to help after the big freeze. It was a relatively small issue with non functioning faucets in part of a house.
Spoke to ""Luis"" on the phone- told him the issue with the supply to the faucets and asked directly if he was calling from a 3rd party booking agency or the actual Portland based plumbing company- he assured my that he was from the company actually doing the work- asked about call out fee and hourly rate : he quoted $99 call out- about double other local plumbers, (dropped it to $79 when I queried that). but said it would be a job rate, based upon what they found.
Set up an appointment for the next day, Sunday- got confirmation texts and email.
That Sunday morning, got a call and text from a pleasant and apologetic Brenda at Rescue Rooter saying they don't do Sundays, focus on drains and specialize in larger jobs- basically the opposite of what I requested.
I would recommend Jack Howk find another booking service that knows what and when they operate and result in less grief and fewer 1 star reviews.

I called Rescue Rooter Jack Howk on Friday 01/12/24 and made an appointment for the following Monday sometime between 8 AM and 12 PM to get our pipes defrosted. Well about 11 AM on Monday morning I started calling, I got the answering service and they said they would try to get a hold of them. I called these people no less than 8 tomes in the course of a couple of days. Long story short, we had frozen pipes with a one year-old baby and a 13-year-old daughter and for literally seven days had no running water. On Friday the 19th at 3 PM I got a call from Rescue Rooter Jack Howk, the conversation started out with apologizing for not making their appointment. They didn't even mention the fact that not only did they not make the appointment but nobody ever called for literally seven days anybody want to guess what they said when they called, get a load of this...""We don't defrost pipes and even if they break, we don't repair them either. You would need to call somebody else. Now keep in mind they made an appointment for me and scheduled the time to come out to defrost the pipes. I told them on the phone what the problem was , so as you can guess one star is being generous. These people are not reliable, nor do they obviously care enough to even pick up the phone and call. Rescue Rooter does win an Award for one thing...
This is the First time I've ever left a negative review..

I am writing this during the tail end of the big freeze in Portland this weekend. On Saturday I lost water flow from all the faucets in my house. I called Rescue Rooter Jack Howk to schedule emergency service. They called me on Sunday morning to tell me that someone would be out Sunday evening between 6 and 10 PM to fix my plumbing. That person never arrived. When I called Sunday night to see whether the plumber was going to show up, I was told that he would not. Instead, I was scheduled for this morning between 7 and 11 am. It's after 10 am right now and because I had not heard from Jack Howk this morning, I called their number to see when the plumber would arrive. I was told that they are closed for the holiday.

The issue is this. If Rescue Rooter Jack Howk really does not provide 24 hour emergency service, they should say so up front. That way, people can make an informed decision about whether to call them. If, however, they say that they provide 24 hour emergency service even though they really don't, that's false advertising and they should go to jail. They have strung me along for three days. This is unacceptable!

I've used this service three times now. The first two were iffy but I was in a jam. You could say I'm a repeate customer at this point so I guess that tells you how they treat their repeat clients.

Called for a frozen pipe - Service window was 8am-8pm so I wanted around all day in a blizzard to get service at my rental property. I was PROMISED a call and service same day. No service ever came and my pipe ruptured.

I called several times but without response. 30 hours now after my call, I call again and they tell me that due to the weather conditions, they pulled all technicians off the road (fine) BUT NEVER CALLED TO LET ME KNOW AND TELL ME TO REQUEST DIFFERENT SERVICE.

Pathetic communication. The mailman even walked in this weather. I am irate. I own many properties and business on the area and I will actively notify all my property managers to blacklist this company from servicing any of our properties again.

I wish I had read Yelp reviews before calling them. Called around 8am on a Saturday with an urgent issue and was told I was on the schedule and had an appt for the same day and would be called 45 min before they arrive. At 5pm I still hadn't heard from them and had to call them. I was then told they were ""sorry"" but can't be there until Monday because they don't have anyone working Sunday.

All it would have taken was a call from them today to cancel so I could have at least called someone else and not waited all day.

I would NOT recommend this company for any type of service.
