Stay away from these guys. they installed new valves and handles in my in-laws shower and the shower would not shut off all the way. Two days later the handles came loose. my father in law had them come back to tighten them and was billed $189 for them to come back and fix their crappy work. That should have been warranty work and free of charge. Unfortunately, my father in-law paid him for this illegal charge after arguing with the owner/ thief. I can't imagine how much they must screw things up when building a new home or doing an extensive remodel. Aweful people to work with!!
I found a leak in my Hot Water heater Tuesday at 3:00 pm and called Remers. They had a new Hot Water Heater at my house with a great serviceman Roco at my house the next day at 9:00 am. How can you beat service like that. The service manager walked me through shutting down my leaking unit so I did not collapse any pipes and waste money on additional repairs and my water bill.
I have never taken the time to write a review on any company I have done business, but I must let the public know about the unethical business practices of Remer Plumbing.
I contacted Remer Plumbing about disconnecting an old water softener from the main water supply. This simply involved cutting two 3/4"" cooper pipes and reconnecting them. The plumber from did exactly that. He cut the two 3/4"" copper pipes that were connected to the water softener, cleaned the copper pipes and two 3/4"" elbows. He then and soldered the two elbows together using a piece of 3/4"" copper pipe about 7"" in length, creating a loop for the water to flow through. It doesn't get any easier and more basic than that for a licensed plumber.
I received an invoice from Remer in the amount of $273.32, two hours of labor at $120.00 per hour, $25.30 for materials (two copper elbows and a 7"" piece of copper pipe) and $6.50 for mileage (round trip from Remer Plumbing is 6.6 miles). Really, two hours of labor to perform the plumbing task described above.
As for the material and mileage charges. The two elbows can be purchased at Home Depot for $1.96 each and the 3/4"" copper pipe is worth about $2.00. Remer's total cost of materials is less than $4.00, a markup of almost six times the retail cost. As for the stated mileage (not travel time), Remer Plumbing invoiced me $6.50 or $.98 per mile, nearly twice the standard IRS mileage rate of $.56 per mile.
I spoke with the owner, Greg Remer two times regarding the invoice, requesting he review the labor charge and make an adjustment to one hour of labor. Greg stated that his plumber wrote down two hours of labor for this job, so that must be what the job took to complete. Greg did not even try to connect the labor charges to the simple task performed.
After my second conversation with Greg Remer, I decided to pay Remer Plumbing $153.32 inclusive of one hour of labor and the invoiced material and mileage charges. On April 1, 2022, I sent check in the amount of $153.32. Then on April 8, 2022, I received a Collection Notice from CBM Services, Inc., Greg Remer has sent my account to a collection agency.
Of course, I will dispute the debt and file the dispute with the appropriate court if an agreement is not reached. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH REMER PLUMBING AND HEATING. Please read similar Remer Plumbing and Heating reviews before engaging in any business with the
Had a plumber come out one day to eliminate a water leak, he was here 1 hour. Two days later another plumber came out to install a new shower valve and shut off valves on my sinks, he was here 3 hours. For the two days the plumbers spent a total of 4 hours here. When I went to pay my bill, I told them that they needed to correct the bill first as I was being billed for 8 hours. They said the 8 hours included travel time which I don't believe is right, plus they charged mileage ! I told the guy in the office that travel time from their office to my home and back is at most a half hour and about 2 hours total for both days. The guy in the office pulled out his phone and opened up the mapping program and measured the travel time and multiplied it times 4 and got an hour and a half, half less than I said. I told him to add that hour and half to the 4 hours the plumbers were at my home and he got 5 and a half hours. That was 2 and a half hours less than they were billing me for. The boss must have been standing off to the side of the office window because I saw a hand reach out and grab the folder then I heard him say ""Take off a half hour, the rest stands"". So I had to pay for 2 hours ( $ 240 ) where nothing happened for my job. I wonder if the next jobs got billed for the same 2 hours ?? Very dishonest, I would never hire them even if they were the only plumber in the state.
Terrible service. Said I needed a $5,000 or more replacement of my water system. Called another plumber who fixed the problem for less than $300
Sheryl D.I don't live in Saginaw, but my elderly parents do. Today while talking to them, my dad mentioned how a part on their toilet had broken and he had gone into Remer to figure out what part he needed to fix it. Whoever the gentleman was behind the counter listened to my dad, told him what he would need to do and got the part for him. They chit-chatted a bit and when my dad went to pay for the part, the gentleman told him not to worry about it. I know it wasn't an expensive part, so some might say it's not a big deal. But to me, knowing that someone showed that kindness to my dad means so much. So, thank you to whoever that was, and thank you to Remer for being a business that cares for its customers. It is greatly appreciated!
We highly recommend REMER! Greg and Matt provided excellent service, great advice and timely repair of our HVAC system. We highly recommend working with REMER and their team if you want a professional experience provided by gentlemen who have tenure and expertise. It was something to see how much pride they take in their work. Matt is a perfectionist and Greg gave us lots of options to consider.
You get what you pay for with this business. I was very pleased with the service from Remer, they pay attention to detail and do a wonderful job. I was very pleased with the work they did. I had them install a water heater, furnace and AC unit and Matt did a great job. Definitely worth the money to have them do your HVAC work!
sarah g.I called Remer after they were recommended by two separate people (against my own judgement from other reviews) to replace a broken water heater at my parents house in Saginaw while I live out of state - and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Talk about timing.
In the literal worst time to be out of hot water, everyone I spoke to over the phone was polite and helpful, from Dave who answered all my questions, to Amy in the office who scheduled the appt and took my information. I was even pleasantly surprised they were able to schedule a next-day installation. When they arrived it turned out the old water heater was NOT a standard size so they had to get a different one, but they did so in only a few hours and came back the next day with a new one that fit perfectly.
Matt and his team arrived on time and performed the installation quickly, and Matt even helped out with a few small home repairs just because he was there and had the tools, which my Mom and I very much appreciate!
I am SO pleased with our Remer experience and would recommend them to anyone looking for heating and cooling services in the Tri-City area. Thanks again to Dave, Amy, and Matt!
Sold me a defective part. When I tried to return it they told me it couldn't be returned because it had been installed. I wish I had read these reviews before giving them my business.
