Reliance is a rip-off company. I called to have a shower faucet cartridge replaced in a Moen faucet. Had a busy day and couldn't do it myself. They came out and gave me an estimate for $3,600.00 to rip out the wall behind TWO bathroom faucets to install new pipes.(unnecessary) I was livid, asked how much to put in a new cartridge-$386.00. I SAID LEAVE. I replaced it myself later in the day for LESS than $20.00. Shame on these A__ holes.

We were completely dissatisfied with services from Reliance Plumbing and I would NOT recommend using them. They were recommended by a coworker, but since using them, the company has been bought out by the younger generation of this family owned business. We hired them to replace our water main, which included directional boring (digging) up our front lawn and inside the house. Although work was completed by Reliance, it was done in an unprofessional manner, at a snail's pace, with multiple verbal promises that were broken again and again. We hired them because they said they were able to begin work immediately, which we needed since it was an emergency and we basically had no water and a sick toddler. They assured us that they owned all of the equipment and do all of the work themselves. This was another lie! They actually had to hire a 3rd party to do the work we needed, causing the job to become delayed even more. Once work began, they sent a plumber's apprentice, but not a real CERTIFIED plumber, and NOBODY organizing the work (FOR A HUGE, EXPENSIVE JOB) or problem-solving multiple issues that came up with the inspector. Therefore, a 2-day job that we hired them to do turned into a job that lasted over a week. We had to move out of our house, and then basically tell them how to do their job throughout the entire process. When they told us the job was done, we found that they left a pipe leaking in our basement, which was something the inspector had told them to fix-so we had them return another day, causing or lives to be disrupted even further. The final straw was when we complained about the service to the owner, Alex Ortega, he informed me that they had already charged our credit card for the final payment (WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION)!! Now it's up to the credit card company's fraud/dispute department and our lawyer to pick up the pieces of this mess.

This plumbing company is a rip off. Had emergency with our hot water tank (leaking on flr. no hot water). Called Reliance cause we had used them before. Installed & supplied new 40 gal tank for $1600. Day later we called other plumbers and discovered we should have paid no more than $1,200.00 tops. Suggest you call others not Reliance!

I have used these guys a few times. They did all of the plumbing for a laundry room that I had built out. They did some drain work in my basement that involved cleaning out pipes heading to the ejector pit and heading out to the street sewer. They also installed gas lines for a fireplace that we converted to natural gas. Each of these projects were not exactly minor endeavors as my house is 100+ years old. They did a great job. They are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. Those are the two most important qualities that I have found to have in a good plumbing company. They fit the bill in both and are on my permanent list of go-to handymen.

Was given a quote to replace a busted spigot, as stated on quote ""Customer does not want to cut sub floor to replace spigot. Estimate to install new frost proof spigot 335.00. We will need to go through wall.""
When they arrived to do the work, price was increased to $525.00 and said it was a misunderstanding.
Be cautious- they are not trustworthy.

Not reliable. Need a different company name.

Set appointment with a 2 hour window. 90 minutes in, get a call that they can't come and need to reschedule. Second appointment set and they didnt arrive and no call in the assigned time.

Found them on a site with a list of local plumbers and they called me within 5 minutes. Seems like a potential ploy to block others from getting the appointment, then they run a need to reschedule game.

Directly impacting the customers schedule and forcing them to waste time and money. Going elsewhere.

I had the unfortunate experience of my basement flooding in one of the recent heavy rain. I called Reliance and I was absolutely impressed. Here is why:

1) Sense of Urgency
As you can imagine, I was terrified of the next rainfall coming to repeat the issue. Reliance empathized and immediately came to my house to have a look. Once the problem was identified and consulting with me, they quickly moved onto fixing the problem. It was a night and day difference to what I got from other places which was +3weeks for an appointment.

2) Honesty
Having had friends who have had similar experience, I've dreaded a crazy plumbing bill. When they came for an site visit, I asked how I can eliminate the issue for good by installing something like a flood control system. The guy shared that putting flood control will solve the issue but it will cost a fortune. He was not convinced I really needed it and asked if he can explore other options. I welcomed any ideas to solve the problem for a lower cost. After poking around, they realized that my basement flooded not because of the heavy rainfall but rather due to my water pipe which carried water out of my house to the city was blocked with debris (roots, rocks, etc). They simply cleaned out the pipe and problem was solved for 1/10 the cost I expected going the flood control route!!! They even purged the pipe with high pressure water at the end to ensure even the smallest debris were out of the pipe.

3) Education
I know little to nothing about plumbing and I shared that right away. Nothing is more frustrating than when contractors push you aside and just does work without asking or explaining what they are doing. To my surprise the guys were very kind to explain everything. They made sure I understood what the problem was, what they were doing to fix it and how I can avoid this ever happening again. And believe me, I had MANY questions. They even offered to show the pipe with a remote camera before the clean, during the clean, and after the clean. At the end, they made sure I was satisfied with the results.

In conclusion, if you know nothing about plumbing, need help asap, and you want someone who won't screw you over I highly recommend Reliance. I am very lucky to have found a reliable plumber that I can call on for any future plumbing issues!

These people are thieves. $95 just to show up + $350 for a one hour job. They had me over a barrel and they knew it. Unscrupulous, unethical and unprofessional!!! WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!!! Absolute robbery!

I received a quote from Reliance for plumbing work that needed to be done for a bathroom remodel.

Good: Their plumber was on time, polite, and even brought special shoe covers to keep dirt off the floors. The completed quote was in my mailbox within three business days including everything we had discussed on site.

Bad: While on site, the plumber asked if I would be pulling a permit for the work. When I said yes, he informed me that I would need to install an incredibly expensive sewer ejector pit to bring the plumbing to code. This necessitated moving a wall, digging up the concrete slab and altering the main plumbing stack in the basement.

Worse: When I showed this quote to the county building inspector during the special inspection walk through he informed me that the work was completely unnecessary. Furthermore, if a sewer ejector pit were actually necessary in my instance, the basement bathroom I have already literally would not work. Since my toilet has been happily flushing since the 1970s, this ""code compliance"" represents only an attempt by Reliance to pad their estimate.

Thus, either the plumber they sent lied to my face in an outright attempt to steal thousands of dollars in unnecessary work, or the ""plumber"" they sent me wasn't a plumber at all and thus knew nothing about how his recommendations would actually work.

Definitely one to avoid.
