Dave B.Do NOT do business with this company. I purchased an AC/furnace unit from them. I was going to pay cash; however, the salesman gave me the option to pay monthly with no insurance fee and could pay off whenever I wanted to. I had direct payments going each month without missing a payment and with excellent credit. Recently, I applied for a HELOC to do some home improvement and was told that I had a judgment/lien on my home title from Reliable Heating and Air. The salesman did not disclose this to me at the time of the purchase, and he only gave me one page of the contract. When I questioned Reliable about this they sent me a page from the contract that I had never seen before with the fine print stating they reserved the right to use a UCC on your property. I would not have agreed to this if I had known or been informed of this by the salesman and would have simply paid for the unit out of my savings, which I ended up doing anyway. After contacting customer service, I was told they would charge me $ 300 to temporarily """"lift"""" the lien. After two years of payments, I ended up paying off the owed amount, which was still almost the original cost of the unit. This was an extremely deceptive business practice, and after being a loyal customer since 2015, I have parted ways with Reliable Heating and Air. I can understand using a mechanics lien with a client with bad credit or missed payments. Still, not someone with excellent credit who has never missed a payment, plus has a history of doing business with the company. I would highly recommend you look for another company to do business with. I also checked with several other companies, who advised that I was grossly overcharged for the unit I purchased. Reliable Heating and Air is a disappointment as a company and does not treat your customers in the manner that they deserve. Copilot I strongly advise against doing business with this company. I purchased an AC/furnace unit from them, intending to pay in cash. However, the salesman offered a monthly payment option with no insurance fee, which I accepted, believing I could pay it off at any time. I maintained direct monthly payments without missing a single one, and my credit is excellent. Recently, while applying for a HELOC for home improvements, I discovered a judgment/lien on my home title from Reliable Heating and Air. This was never disclosed to me at the time of purchase; I was only given one page of the contract. When I questioned the company, they sent me a page I had never seen before, which included fine print stating they reserved the right to use a UCC on my property. Had I been informed of this, I would have paid for the unit outright from my savings, which I ended up doing anyway. Upon contacting customer service, I was informed there would be a $300 charge to temporarily """"lift"""" the lien. After two years of payments, I paid off the amount owed, which was nearly the original cost of the unit. This deceptive practice led me to end my relationship with Reliable Heating and Air after being a loyal customer since 2015. While I understand the use of a mechanic's lien for clients with poor credit or missed payments, this should not apply to someone with excellent credit and a perfect payment history. I highly recommend seeking another company for your HVAC needs. Other companies informed me that I was significantly overcharged for the unit. Reliable Heating and Air's practices are deeply disappointing, and they do not treat their customers as they should.
Buyer beware! While Reliable provides excellent HVAC service stay away from buying a standby generator from them. They will try to sell you their """"comfort plan"""" which is an equipment lease. The monthly amount will vary based on the size of the generator. What they tried to sell me was an 8 year lease at $239/mo. The total payments would amount to over $22,000. At the end of the 8 years I could buy out the lease for an additional $8100. The size generator they recommended would cost roughly $6500 at Home Depot. The cost if I bought it outright in the beginning was $18,000, almost 3 times the cost of the equipment. Don't buy from one of these companies installing generators. Buy the equipment yourself and hire an electrician to install it.
This company is a nightmare. It took them three months to attempt to perform summer service but then insisted on pushing the service to when it was so cold that a AC service cannot be reliable performed according to manufacturer specifications (at 59°F). I asked their tech not to do one thing, don't wake my wife who works nights as a nurse - what did the tech do? They started in the attic and sounded like they were dribbling metal basketballs. It went downhill from there. The tech spent the rest of the time trouping in and out and yelling from downstairs upstairs or yelling from downstairs to upstairs. I tried calling the company but even after 20 minutes on hold there's no one there who cares.
TLDR: I paid Reliable and my a/c didn't work when they left My rep was nice but didn't pre-quote me until he already started the work. And I felt pressured to pay since the work was half way done. Even after doing the work the a/c didn't work and I was told that my unit was too old ( which it is). And then tried to sell me into their monthly plan and to book a replacement appt for the next day. I had already scheduled another tech from another company for right after. So he double checked the work and found a cut in my air duct. He taped it up and replaced my fluid and now my air conditioner works great. The unit is old so I am going to replace it eventually with this other company. So shout out to that other company. They also did the work in less time too, had a warranty and minor but appreciated , wore slippers over his boots while walking thru my home.
Set up a a 4 hour appointment window. They called at 1035 saying the technician is finishing up and will be on the way. 1.5 hour later I call and it's going to be another 30 mins. Reliable ha! More like unreliable! Never will use them ever again! Very disappointed!!!
Erwim J.I have been a client for many years with a couple properties and been extremely pleased with the technicians. I have also posted glowing reviews. However, today is different. I just called to schedule my filter change out maintenance appointment. The scheduling representative, DENAYA was possibly the most rude person I have spoken to ever. She was so nasty that I would return both my TRANE systems if I could. I'm hopeful Reilable Leadership will read this, mandate, training immediately or move her to another department. She should not be interfacing with customers. I assume one with such a nasty attitude has or will have other complaints. Jesus, what a terrible way to begin my week!!!
I live in a house with an older Goodman unit, and the blower motor finally started to give up on us with intermittent issues. Reliable sent a tech out quickly, confirmed the issue, and we agreed to replace the motor to get another season or two out of the aging unit. We schedule the service within a week. Tech installed the first motor, and it promptly CATCHES FIRE. I was assured it was just the wrong part, and they'll sort it out with a new one. Two weeks go by, and we were provided window units that struggled to keep our home tolerable. 3 weeks without A/C. Tech comes back, installed the second motor, and it catches fire AGAIN. At this point, I asked to have a supervisor come out. Supervisor works for a few hours with the tech, and says I have too much voltage coming into the unit and that I need to contact my power company or an electrician. They installed a third motor, but I was instructed not to operate the unit until the voltage is """"turned down"""". Again, they leave us without our unit fixed and I was charged for the service anyway. I'm not an expert, but I do understand enough to be dissatisfied with the explanation of """"too much voltage"""". Why would the previous motor work for nearly 20 years, and then suddenly our unit is catching new motors on fire? I check the voltage myself, comes up as 246.8 volts. After doing some research, that's a perfectly acceptable voltage for the unit to work properly. Somewhere in the circuit there is supposed to be a reduction before it's supplied to the motor. That reduced voltage supply is in our circuit; apparently their tech AND supervisor missed that. I found that information in about 10 minutes of Googling. At this point, 4 weeks without A/C. In July. In Georgia. Called the power company, they send their service manager out, everything looks perfect up to the unit; he also informs me that it's normal to see anything under 250 volts for a 240 volt application. Call another A/C repair company and they confirm that 246.8 volts is acceptable for our unit, and that if it's catching motors on fire, incorrect wiring is most likely the culprit. Requested to be refunded for the failed service, and after being tossed around and waiting on hold for a few hours, Chris agreed to my refund. The one silver lining is that once Chris heard the full story and my due diligence, he agreed with my assessment and initiated the refund, and allowed us to keep the temporary window units they provided until I could get the issue resolved. In the end, they nearly caught my attic on fire twice, made me wait a month without A/C, left me with a fire hazard instead of a blower motor, and charged me for it. I ended up getting the issue resolved by the other A/C company I consulted during this fiasco. This was my first service from Reliable, and it's absolutely the last. Don't have them service your unit, don't buy a new unit through them, just find somebody else. Anybody else.
Recently we sold our house and moved 7 miles down the road in the same city. We had a service contract through Reliable Heating and Air. We called to tell them we were moving and they said it would cost $4,000.00 to get out of the contract. We had been with them for years for an air condition, water heater and a water purifier. not once did they ask us if the new owners were interested or if we wanted this at our new house. They did not care. They had a lien on the house so we had to pay. So the new owners had all the equipment and no warranty. We paid the $4,000 and 4 months later they were still deducting the monthly fee out of our account. I was so shocked at the crummy response from the company that I told them I would definitely be giving them a bad rating and again no one cared! If I could give them no stars, I would. please do not use them.
Depending on who you come in contact with, will depend on the service you receive. Not all of the employees are bad apples, but most will make you feel as though you are living a nightmare. I have experienced billing issues and service call issues that started in 2021 and just got resolved. I am waiting now for resolution for damages & an unauthorized charge, and I have had to file complaints with the state and others for resolutions. Best of luck.
My Trane unit purchased from Reliable has been troublesome since they installed it. Now the repair they did on the latest issue didn't even last 6 hrs. When I called back I was told it would be 3 days before they could get someone back to fix what wasn't fixed the first time! ! My husband is wheelchair bound/handicapped & this is just a major issue for us. So disappointed that this company treats a loyal customer this way. I am done with Reliable!
