We've used this company for years and lately it's nearly impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. When they do answer, we request a specific service (HVAC) and they send another (electrician), who can't help us. Call again to the office, and it is an additional 5 day wait to have the requested service come out. That was followed by a no-show technician due to no communication from the office, promises to reschedule, and going days without hearing back from them. If you can get a technician scheduled, they do great work. Good luck to you if you choose this company.

I received one of their printed ads in the mail for """"COMPLETE heating & Cooling System, as low as $4195 INSTALLED"""" pic attached. Contacted them, waited 4 days for someone to arrive to give me an """"accurate"""" estimate according to their dispatch. Tom Bennet was assigned and came over. Tells me, yeah that ad means, to replace an existing system already in place, not a brand new install from scratch. Ok, so how much? Well with ducting and unit etc, it will be more. Ok, So how much? My basement is pre-framed and not finished so everything is exposed for an easy install. Let me work on that quote for you, give me 2 days. Its been 3 weeks and nothing. Don't fall for these mailed to home false advertisements.

Reliable heating and air installed in August, 2019 Trane gas air condition with a TXV valve that was leaking refrigerant and Reliable denied the 2019 Trane gas air condition had a TXV valve and has refused to show a HVAC or a readable EPA certification and has refused to repair. The model# for the 2019 Trane gas air condition and gas furnace installed do not match Reliable Equipment information. Reliable Equipment information list equipment never installed in residence.Reliable Union City mechanical permit is for an electrical air system not a Trane gas air system installed.

The electrical work that was done in a warehouse was fine and the technician provided good direction for us to make a cost-effective decision; however, Reliable Heating & Air rented a lift unit for the installation and failed to pay the rental company OR they did not pay the correct amount. This has resulted in the rental company threatening/filing a lien against the property owner for over $2,500. Despite best efforts and working on this problem for approximately two months, it has not been resolved. If you work with this company, be sure that they provide a hold harmless agreement to you for their failure to meet obligations to subcontractors.

Repair a leaking fitting on hot water heater $7.00 in parts 30 min repair and charged me $360.00 that's $357.00 dollars an hour won't be using them on any of my commercial or residential service calls again. Way over priced for that type of repair

UPDATE: 9/24/21- Reliable reached out. We resolved issue amicably. I'm appreciative. 9/11/21 Reliable installed a UV light in my ac unit. The next day I started experienced itchy, burning skin and watery eyes. My pup also had watery eyes. I did some research online and found an FDA article stating that some UV lights emit ozone and cause symptoms like the above. I contacted the California Air Board, which only lists """"safe"""" product which have submitted their testing reports. None of RGF's products are listed. I found an ozone free UV light (APCO-X) and after explaining my symptoms, requested that Reliable replace the RGF uv light with an ozone free light. I asked that the difference between the lights be the additional charge given my symptomatic reaction to the uv light they installed and was provided a quote of almost $1000. I had already paid $600 for an install on a light that cost $130 on Amazon and took the tech 30 minutes to install. I trusted this company to install a unit that was safe. Would have been customer conscious to even offer the ozone free option as an option. That did not happen. Additionally, the light stopped working less than 2 weeks later. They are now ignoring my request and communication.

I used Reliable for electrical light installation once before and had a great experience. So I chose them again to continue adding and upgrading light fixtures in my new home. Unfortunately the second time wasn't great. I called to have a ceiling fan and flush mount added to a guest room and nursery in preparation for our new baby. The new technician suddenly claimed that he could install my two fixtures for free--if I spent $3200 to upgrade my """"illegal"""" electrical panel. Now someone from the same company had just installed $1500 worth of lighting and said nothing about this. It also didn't come up on an extensive home inspection. I work with rehabbers and queried some home inspectors I know. The """"illegal panel"""" he claimed I had was recalled and out of production in the mid 70s. My house was built in 1985. The rebranded panel he claimed I had wasn't even one of the ones the company made. As an """"expert"""" he would've known. Please be diligent when working with these people. Some are great. This one tried to gouge us out of thousands.

I don't come to this review lightly. We used Reliable for almost 15 years and thought we were getting good service. I previously rated them 5 stars. I'll provide details, but I think the problem may be they've gotten too big, too stretched, too profit driven, and not able to maintain quality. Over the years, they have frequently tried to upsell us into additional services or system replacements. We had them install a new AC unit 8 years ago. During installation, they actually removed the wrong unit and then had to reconnect everything. After that, we had to have two service calls to fix malfunctions. Still, we stayed with them for bi-annual - and then annual - service. In October 2017 we had them clean our duct work and dryer vent for $825. At the end of last year, we had a massive leak down to the kitchen which we believed was the primary bathroom toilet upstairs. We called Reliable Plumbing out for the first time and were told it was actually our shower - not the toilet, and all we had to do was re-caulk the shower fixtures. The leak persisted. We called a local plumber who discovered the seal on the toilet was broken and was causing a slow leak. Problem solved. This past March, we had our now-annual service. They said we really needed to replace the downstairs, 21-year old AC unit. We said ok, and they arranged for someone to come out the next day. Before even looking at the system, the salesman tried to convince us to essentially rent a new system for a monthly fee. When I asked what happens when we sell the house and learned the additional cost we would have to pay, I realized it was not a financially sound proposition. He then went about his business and said we would have an estimate the next day - which would include putting a new unit upstairs - including furnace - and switching the 8-year-old unit to downstairs. I'm still waiting for that estimate 5 months later. Fast forward to early August. I thought I started smelling mold or mildew. I wanted someone to check it out but did not want to use Reliable since they never gave us our estimate. We also had decided perhaps we needed to find a new AC company. A neighbor recommended a small company. They came out and discovered massive mold in the upstairs evaporator coil, plenum, and duct work. He also said he could feel cold air coming out at the seals where the duct work entered the plenum. I asked if that could have happened since March. He said in his professional opinion - no. He said it didn't look like the evaporator coil had ever been serviced. I did note that in the paperwork I got in March from Reliable, the 17-point AC check includes the following: 12. Measure and record temperature drop across evaporator coil (inside). 13. Check evaporator coil for level for proper drainage (inside). 17. Inspect ductwork for proper installation and sealed (inside). It appears none of this was likely done for years. I'm now faced with a potential insurance claim, needing to get the system professionally cleaned by a mold remediation company, and replacing all my upstairs duct work at substantial cost. Not to mention the potential health hazard it presents. I resolved never to use Reliable again. Then, I got mad because there is still two years parts and labor left on the 8-year old unit. I called their office Aug 19 and let them know my concerns. As usual, the phones reps were wonderful and polite. I said I think this needed a supervisor, and I was directed to someone's voice mail that was so full it could not take messages. The system hung up on me. I called back and spoke to an equally polite customer service rep. She took down copious notes of my concerns and said she would send it to a supervisor who typically gets right back to folks. It is now Sunday, August 29. and I am still waiting for a call back. I usually don't write negative reviews. I figure I will just never use a company again, but perhaps this will get someone's attention, and they will realize there is something systemically wrong at the company.

We've used Reliable H&A for our HVAC needs and were very impressed with them so we decided to go with them for electrical for our basement buildout. To be completely honest, at first we got off to a really bad start because the first electrician that came to run the new wiring seemed to """"know what he was doing"""" but ended up taking a lot of time causing delays with our project, making some pretty huge mistakes including cutting new drywall in the wrong places, removing preexisting wiring for an area on our main level of our home that should have never been touched and throwing away a lot of existing shop lighting that we requested to be reused in the storage and workroom areas. To be fair to Reliable H&A the employee most likely over qualified himself on his resume and communicated that he had done large basement projects before. But.. it was quite evident in the amount of time he was taking, the mistakes that were made, along with the mess that he created as time went on that he was not at all an experienced technician, or at least not qualified to do a full basement project. Despite our extreme frustration, and that of our lead building contractor over damaged to his newly installed drywall that was cut incorrectly in areas throughout the basement causing delays for the project, we were put at ease when the electrical area manager Jim Koether came to our home to walk through the area with us to assess the damage. Jim went above and beyond to insure that all drywall was replaced that was damaged, as well as compensating us on lighting that was thrown away, etc. In addition, he gave us all of his contact info and promised to personally work with us to make sure everything was done in excellence going forward. Jim put Joey on the job as our new electrician and that's when our confidence was restored that everything could and would be corrected to our satisfaction. JOEY!!!!! He is AWESOME!!!! He's very professional and passionate about doing exceptional work for his clients. He did whatever it took to correct the issues, find work around solutions as needed based on what had been done prior by the other employee. In fact, the day that he discovered that a wire had been previously cut to our upstairs Foyer area, he had worked the entire day but stayed on the job until after 8pm troubleshooting and working to find a work around solution to fix the issue so that he didn't have to cut through our new drywall or spray foam insulation that we'd just had installed to run another wire to the breaker box. On the day of county building inspection, Joey came to our home at 8am and waited onsite until they showed up after noon to insure that everything passed and to personally walk through with the inspector. Joey is very focused, respectful and he maintained a very neat and clean work environment throughout the building process, always removing any trash or debris when he left the premises. During our experience, Sharon Beasley was instrumental in assisting as well because she escalated the problem to Jim, after taking the time on the phone to listen through our frustration. Also, Vandie in dispatch/scheduling was extremely attentive and would check in and keep close contact with us during the process. Although we had some issues in the beginning of our project, we still recommend Reliable H&A because of the outstanding customer service that they provided us throughout the entire process to insure that everything was corrected and that we were satisfied. Exceptional customer service is hard to find these days. However, Sharon, Jim, Joey and Vandie all went above and beyond to work with us to insure that everything was corrected and done in excellence and for that we are most appreciative.

Update: After posting my review, Reliable almost immediately reached out to me with an apology and even refunded me my $120 service fee back in an effort """"to rebuild a relationship with me"""". I'm appreciative of the gesture and effort. At this time, I'm not sure if I'd """"rely"""" on them to repair any of my home issues. Additionally, one of their service managers called me on Tuesday, August 10th in response to the quote being issued to me to rewire my A/C unit. Not sure why they called me 3 and a half weeks later to fix my A/C issue. This was a bad experience for me but I appreciate their efforts to right this wrong.
