Upon graduating high school, I served in the armed forces. I have a wonderful wife and have a family of four beautiful children. I started my business in 1995, we have expanded our services.

I called multiple HVAC repair places this morning after waking up at 12:30 last night with no heat.

I left messages with about 10 places. Robert called me and asked me to send him pictures of my unit. He then called and walked me through trying to troubleshoot it myself.

That didn't work and a little while laterlater, he called because he was in my complex and asking which bldg I was in!!He troubleshooted it and showed me everything he was checking so I could learn.

It started working with some tweaking but he did warn me it might just be a bandaid and I let me know what he thought it was. One thought was the pressure switch and he sent me a pic of one he found in his warehouse!!


Unfortunately, a little while later, it stopped again. I let him know and he told me he would try and get here by 6. What I forgot to mention earlier is today is his wife's birthday.

I got it working for now and will let him know what happens. He is taking his wife to dinner. I cannot say enough about the service, follow up, education or how nice Robert was.

I have already recommended him to at least 5 people and will continue in the future!!

R. E. Coogan installed a new boiler for me last week. Mr. Coogan explained all the work that was to be done, scheduled an installation including removal of my old boiler promptly. The crew was professional and polite, taking care to protect my floors, etc. All work was done in two days and they cleaned up after themselves beautifully.

I was going to ignore my experience with this contractor, but recently the experience has escalated from bad to horrendous; so I feel obligated to write this review and hopefully save someone else.

R.E. Coogan was contracted to do some work renovating my apartment. They installed a shower and a toilet, but the shower had an incorrect part and I had to call for months to get it replaced. Then one of their techs dropped a wrench right in front of me on my newly finished floors, leaving a large indentation. Mr. Coogan witnessed this and did nothing.

My furnace was going and I was gathering quotes to replace it with a new high-efficiency combo unit. Mr. Coogan heard about this and took it upon himself to have a team waking me up on a Monday morning to install the new unit before I had even secured funding. If you read other negative reviews, it seems they have a track record of performing unauthorized work and then billing for it.

They gave me a space heater to heat my office so I could work while they replaced the furnace, which I was very appreciate of, but then they forgot it and I drove an hour to drop it back off at their office in Warwick at the behest of Mr. Coogan.

Less than a year later, I have a puddle forming in my basement under the new combi unit. I call R.E. Coogan to make an appointment to have it checked out. No one shows. I call back to ask where they are and speak to Mr. Coogan directly. He comes out to my property and swears up and down it is not his unit leaking. It can't be. Tells me to buy a dehumidifier and find the source because it will, quote, ""save me a lot of money.""

A few days later, Christmas Eve, I am at a party enjoying my time with friends when I get a call from my tenant (thankfully) that my combi unit was spraying water all over the place. I rush home and turn off the system. Christmas day my father and I spend an hour at my place tightening six of the eight circulator bolts that were not properly torqued.

A week later they have someone come out and replace the circulators, and he cleans out the filter, I guess, in my brand-new furnace, which I did not ask for. Today I received a bill for $275 for said cleaning.

Oh, and I had to wait over a month for someone to come out and switch the thermostat zones that they incorrectly wired, too.

Honestly, just use any other reputable heating company and steer clear of R.E. Heating and Cooling. It's been nothing but a nightmare.

After having new furnaces and A/C condensers installed last year, our humidifier did not seem to be working. We contacted Coogan Heating and their installers/repair crew came out to take a look and tried to determine the underlying problem. Although the humidifier still was not doing its job , we contacted the company again, and they did further research, and did solve the problem. It took some time and patience, but the crew reconnected the humidifier so that all was fine. Bob Coogan, owner, called to check progress and was ready to make a visit, when his hard-working staff had everything functioning well. Both Bob and his personnel definitely work as a team at all times.

1. Incident 1-I had a Quietside combo boiler/hot water heater tankless and I knew it was on its last legs. I had RE Coogan come over and work on it last spring. I wasn't at the house at the time so my tenants let them in. They started to do the work without reaching out to me and only talking to my tenants. I recieved a $780 bill for the work that they did on the unit without even knowing what they were going to be doing. This was the first level of unprofessionalism and when I called to complain they argued with me about paying a 3% additional fee for using a credit card.
2. Fast forward 6 months later and the unit that they ""fixed"" broke again and it was time to replace it. I called up the owner of the company and he drove across the city go give me a quote on replacing the unit. He said nothing about it being a charge to get a quote from him. I didn't end up going with them for the replacement because they were $3,000 higher than the competition. He ended up billing me $225 for the quote. When I called to complain they argued with me for 20 minutes.
**This company is deceptive and overpriced. Make sure if they are coming to your house to do any work that you do not make the same mistake I made.

Outstanding experience! From my initial phone call with Ana, working with this company has been seamless. I had my furnace and hot water heater replaced through the RISE/National Grid program and given the scope of the work that needed to be done, I was apprehensive. Bob Coogan not only provided an estimate but took the time to explain everything. On the day of installation Ryan, Mike and Irvin arrived early and during the course of the day additional crew arrived, including Bob. By 5:00 the job was complete and the entire work area had been cleaned, leaving no trace of the extensive job. Ryan explained the features of my new equipment and was awesome! Ana was extremely helpful with guiding me through the loan/rebate process and communicated frequently. I have never dealt with a more friendly, knowledgeable and helpful company! I would recommend RE Coogan without hesitation!

I really wanted to use this company because of their great reviews. I called in mid-June to set up an appointment to see my place to install a heat pump and ductless a/c. Due to my schedule it didn't work out, but Anna was great and took down lots of details and said they would try to do a quote based on the floor plan I emailed. I was really impressed, but unfortunately, I never heard back from them. A month later, Ryan called and was very professional and apologized for not getting back to me during high season. We talked and he seemed very knowledgeable and said he'd do a quote and send it asap. After getting two other quotes that I wasn't happy with, I had high hopes. Nothing arrived. I called back every day for almost 2 weeks. Anna was always great and tried to help, explaining that they were slammed and that Ryan would call me. Nothing. It's now been 6 weeks. Anna gave me a verbal quote and said she'd send it by email. Still nothing. She called to say that a tech could stop by the house and take a look in person, which was great. I asked if she could have one of the technicians call and talk to me through their recommendations. Nothing. Just got off the phone again and begged for the quote. She said she gave it to me verbally, and I asked her to send it again. Still nothing. Very frustrating experience, so have decided to move on. I get it that hvac companies are busy mid-summer. I just wanted to get a quote. If you're too busy to do that, just say so.

We just bought a new house and needed a plumber to install the new gas range and dishwasher. RE Coogan was recommended by our real estate. Bob called back right away after we placed the call. He fit us in the very next day and everything was installed by the time we got home from work. In the first week of living in the house, we had to call Bob on two occasions when the heat didn't work. He called back within
5 minutes both times (once at 6 am and once at 6pm) and Helped to troubleshoot the issue over the phone. We were able to fix both times without having him come out! Bob is patient and kind and his staff is the same way. I highly recommend RE Coogan if you're ever in need of a plumber.
