They used to do good work when it was the principals doing the work. Now they send technicians who have no idea what they are doing and do not fix the problem. They are rude and end up causing more problems than you originally called them for. It has become a sham business.
Norton W.Great people, reliable, friendly and skilled at their trade. I have done business with for more than ten years. Peter Maietta, Sales
They used to have a technician named Jeff who was outstanding. They parted ways with him and haven't been the same since. The last tech who came to my house was rude, made a mess, and made changes to my furnace that to this day I think affected it negatively. It stopped igniting just as winter weather set in this month and I called MTB for help - no response. I left 4 messages telling them I need someone to come fix it because my wife and daughter are freezing and they never even called back. Moved my service to Pine State Services and haven't looked back.
This company came to my mothers house and spent most of their time talking on cell phones in the driveway. They told her they didn't have the right things to do the job, but assured her they would come back with them. No one ever came back, so she called and had to leave a message and no one will get back to her. It was 145.00 for them to show up and do nothing and then not follow up or even call. She will not be calling them again. She's 77 years old and doesn't need this crap. Do not recommend. 145.00 wasted.
Probably the worst home improvement experience I have had. The workmanship was fine, but I had them for one job. I then paid them. Then hired for second job, After second job complete they said they mis billed me for the first. Then they sent me multiple bills with the amount I had already paid still due- no one bothered to ever respond to my emails and calls explaining they were mis-billing me. I gave up and did my own math.
Do not use this company. They have Techs on staff that do not know what they are doing. They had wired my heat pump incorrectly when first installed. The Tech that had to come out and try to trouble-shoot the fix took 1.5 days. They then invoiced me over $1,000 (which I paid) but said that they didn't have a record of that invoice and just an invoice for $180. They then refused to credit me the $1000 and I had to file a complaint with the BBB. They also refused to return calls and sent nasty and unprofessional emails. There are plenty of HVAC companies in Southern Maine, do not use this company.
My husband called and made an appointment to have mainly plumbing come and install a new toilet. We were told we would get a call back that afternoon with a quote. Two weeks later we were still waiting on a quote. Messages were left Thursday and Friday and we're not returned. Monday morning they showed up for the appointment with a toilet that they had chosen. I didn't realize that the tank and toilet seat were additional charges. Nor were we told that we would be paying for travel time to appointment. Not a problem their office is 5 miles from my house. What I didn't know is I would be paying travel time from South Portland. You see that's where their last appointment was. They ended up charging me 45 minutes of travel time to get to my house. When I called I was told I would be issued a refund which I was. I just don't understand having to call about this. The plumber told me he doesn't like that practice but he gave me a brake on the travel cost of $135.00. Do you not trust them. The toilet seat they sent, was $94. You can buy the same one at Home Depot for $21. At least my almost 900.00 toilet works.
Naomi H.Do not hire this company! Workmanship was shoddy and in violation of code. Ten days after completion of the job, a major leak resulted from their incompetent installation of an outdoor water spigot. Then they charged us substantial fees for repairs! Throughout, although they admitted the spigot should never have been installed by their plumber in the first place, their attitude was belligerent and accusatory. In more than 40 years of home ownership, we have never dealt with such unprofessional, unpleasant contractors/workmen.
I can't give enough praises about Mainely Plumbing and Heating. They were prompt and responsive. They installed a new AC and dealt with issues related to my previous units. Jim and his son were helpful and knowledgeable. In addition, they are reasonable. They provided terrific service and came on the weekend to deal with my old unit. I would recommend them without reservation.
Mainly Plumbing and Heating connected my townhouse to the local natural gas line in '12 and I have continued to use them ever since. They are terrific! Not only are they very responsive, their technicians are really good and thorough. For heating and A/C maintenance or repair (both my boiler and whole house A/C unit are 12 years old) I know I can rely on them for excellent service when I need it.
