I gave a 4 vs 5-star rating because of the price that Ray Lusk charged to repair our hot water heater. I felt it was a bit excessive. I was charged $502.49 which includes tax, to replace both thermostats and both elements in our hot water heater. A quick search online shows that two AO Smith thermostats and two elements for a 50gal water heater can be purchased for about $35.00. It's probably even less when purchased wholesale. Ray Lusk charges $144.00 for a service call and a diagnosis. So $144.00 plus $35.00 is $179.00, which leaves a balance of $323.47 for labor. Shawn replaced both thermostats and both elements in less than 90 minutes, which means that the labor cost was $242.61 per hour. I just feel that's a little high for central Arkansas.

They took advantage of a situation where there was a backlog, delay to get service from competitors and over engineered what should have been an inexpensive repair. They will come quickly if you are in a bind and mind a way to make you pay an excessive premium. Be careful to trust them.

I have to rate in the middle because they could not work me in for days. In the meantime, I fixed the problem without their assistance. They were very pleasant on the phone and their follow-up call was also good. Maybe next time.

We had a small leak we knew about in an outdoor faucet, and an unusually high water bill, so I asked them to come and take a look. The folks were easy to reach on the phone, and booked me a visit easily (it was about a week out, since there was nothing urgent going on)

The tech called about ten minutes before the time window they gave me, and showed up on time (*to the minute* which can't possibly happen every time, but worth mentioning).

Once here, he quickly diagnosed the problem, and talked me through what he was thinking as he investigated. He also tried first to find a repair, rather than replace, but after he got the faucet disassembled we both saw it was beyond hope, so he got it replaced in no time.

He was perfectly happy to answer some questions, check some other outdoor spigots, and when I talked about some odd quirks we had inside the house, without missing a beat he went under the house, changed out our pressure regulator, and solved all sorts of appliance issues we've had for YEARS.
Not only that, but he was out and back on the road well before the original estimate, and the final cost was well worth the peace of mind.

I called Ray Lusk plumbing because I read in my neighborhood app referral they were the people to call. Lusk sent Sean to give me an estimate and I was shocked I was given an almost $1000 estimate... it took him 30 minutes to write it up. The job I wanted done wouldn't have taken more than an hour or two at the most; so I was wondering if they even wanted my business. To say the least I am annoyed and upset that they wasted of my time.

Sean was wonderful! Our water heater broke/started leaking after hours and Sean walked me though how to turn everything off over the phone as soon as I called. Then, just a short while later he arrived and had our water heater replaced in no time! What a life saver. The price he quoted over the phone was very reasonable, especially considering the time and effort he put into it! Highly recommend.
