A.J. Rath arrived in Wharton in 1965 to work on a project for the Wharton County Junior College. When the project turned into a three-year commitment, he moved his family here. Once the project wrapped up, he had come to appreciate the community, and numerous neighbors persuaded him to stay and establish his own company. Rath Plumbing Company officially opened its doors on January 27th, 1968.
