A.J. Rath first set foot in Wharton in 1965 for a project at the Wharton County Junior College. He relocated his family here when the project extended into a three-year endeavor. Once the project wrapped up, he had come to appreciate the community, and numerous neighbors persuaded him to stay and establish his own company. Rath Plumbing Company officially opened its doors on January 27th, 1968.
