In 1965, A.J. Rath came to Wharton to undertake a project for the Wharton County Junior College. He relocated his family here when the project extended into a three-year endeavor. Once the project wrapped up, he had come to appreciate the community, and numerous neighbors persuaded him to stay and establish his own company. January 27th, 1968, marked the founding of Rath Plumbing Company.
