A.J. Rath arrived in Wharton in 1965 to work on a project for the Wharton County Junior College. He relocated his family here when the project extended into a three-year endeavor. As the project concluded, he had developed a love for the community, and several neighbors urged him to remain and launch his own business. On January 27th, 1968, Rath Plumbing Company was established.
