A.J. Rath first set foot in Wharton in 1965 for a project at the Wharton County Junior College. He brought his family to Wharton as the project evolved into a three-year task. As the project concluded, he had developed a love for the community, and several neighbors urged him to remain and launch his own business. Rath Plumbing Company officially opened its doors on January 27th, 1968.
