In 1965, A.J. Rath came to Wharton to undertake a project for the Wharton County Junior College. He relocated his family here when the project extended into a three-year endeavor. As the project concluded, he had developed a love for the community, and several neighbors urged him to remain and launch his own business. Rath Plumbing Company officially opened its doors on January 27th, 1968.
