In 1965, A.J. Rath came to Wharton to undertake a project for the Wharton County Junior College. When the project turned into a three-year commitment, he moved his family here. As the project concluded, he had developed a love for the community, and several neighbors urged him to remain and launch his own business. January 27th, 1968, marked the founding of Rath Plumbing Company.
