I will not critique their work, because they never did any. I had a septic tank that had limited use as the house is a vacation home. I had called a septic pumping company that gave me Raptor Plumbing and Drain number and advised me to have them snake the line before paying the higher cost of pumping. They arrived in a timely manner and talked to the renter who had been there for a couple of days. He called me and told me that it needed to be pumped out based on his expertise. He also stated that he didn't want to take the chance of getting his snake caught in the septic tank. He also stated that he would dig open up the access tube for a $1,000. He does not actually do pumping and I thought the price might be too expensive. I am not sure why he came out if he didn't want to snake a house with a septic take, because that is the only service he could perform. I told him I would get a pumping company to do the whole job and he left. He then charged me $189.00 for coming out, knowing he wasn't going to snake the drain in the first place.
I hired a pumping company, who upon his advice dug up the access to the tank for $250. They saw that the tank was not overflowing and was in working order and of course they pumped the tank anyway without asking for $395. Then they asked the renter to turn on the showers and flush the toilets, which caused an overflow onto the carpets, due to a clog. Then they snaked the line for $195. The clogged shower/ toilet were fifteen feet from septic tank. Because of the overflow I had to pay for a hotel for the renters and drive five hours there and back to clean the bathrooms and shampoo the carpets.
I ultimately called Raptor Plumbing and Drain and asked them to reverse the charges, which they agreed to. However, that was five days ago and the charge remains. It cost me approximately $1,600, a five hour drive, and five hours of cleaning, all based on the recommendation from a person who claimed to be an expert and did no actual work.
I can't tell anyone one what to do. All I can do is tell my story. I will not make this mistake again.
