On 8/1/2020 I contacted Rane Evatt Plumbing regarding a leaky faucet. He came out to the house, had his kid with him. He took my faucet apart and said I needed a hot and cold cartridge as well as a new shower diverter since mine were no longer in good use. I said okay. He left to get the part. He claims he was going to TMS South in Greenville. A good chunk of time later he shows back up with the part. He installs it, asks for some vaseline. I told him I had A&D ointment. He said it was all the same, and put it on the part. He showed me that the faucet was no longer leaking. This is where things go sour. He tells me the price will be $600. That does not include labor, because in his words, it didn't really require any labor so he was not going to charge for that. So his service charge is $79.00. That means THE PARTS HE INSTALLED he claimed cost him $521.00. Now while he was gone all that time, I looked at the website for the company he claimed he went to. They were closed on Saturdays... Not even open. Where did he get these parts? I knew what the parts cost. I had already had these parts replaced before... I am not stupid. He states TMS South charges that much for the parts. I asked to see a receipt. He cannot provide one. I also told him I knew they were closed on Saturday and he said, """"No, they are open till 12 on Saturdays."""" Keep in mind, he also did not want to provide me with an invoice for his work. I argued with him. And I told him I would not pay the $600. He should have been upfront about the cost before he installed them. He then says he would drop it down to $400. He was losing money, but he would do it. I told him that was still too much. He then asks me to meet him in the middle. I said no. I was not paying that much for parts he paid a few dollars for. I told him he could take the parts out and I would buy them myself from Lowe's and put them in myself. He then told me to pay him what I thought was fair. I gave him $160. That was for his service charge, the parts, his labor, and the fact he came out on a Saturday. He left. He text me after he left and said the time listed for TMS South was their COVID hours with laughing emoji's? I informed him that if I after I contacted TMS South, I still owed him money, he would get it. A few hours later while attemping to use the shower, the knob would not turn. Then when attempting to turn the shoewer off, it would not unless you turned both hot and cold water off as well.I took the knob off the shower turner and the diverter he had put in was stuck in the pipe. I could not turn it, I could not move it at all. I could not even pull it out. I had to have another plumber come out to remove it. A piece of the shower diverter was broken off inside. He said the piece was too big for the pipe and the reason Rane Evatt asked for vaseline was probably to make the piece go in, when he realized the piece he got was too big. I contacted TMS South on Monday I asked for prices of the parts he replaced, they sent me texts stating they were less than 25.00. And as a contractor, had he bought them there, he would have received a discount. They also are not open on the weekends. I made numerous attempts to reach Rane Evatt Plumbing and was blocked each time. I asked for my money back since the job he did was faulty and again was blocked. I asked him why he lied about the price and why he lied about where he bought the parts and he avoided the questions when he finally did respond to me via a group I had posted my experience with. I have heard from other people as well from the same site, they have also had issues with him. I do not recommend this company at all. I am sharing my experience in the hopes of keeping someone else (especially older folks) from being taking advantage of or paying a lot more for parts than is necessary.

One of the most honest and responsive plumbers I have ever met. I used to be a realtor and worked with a bunch, and Rane is by far the fairest in pricing and time of response. He explains problems very clearly and doesn't make things up to just make an extra buck. Very trustworthy.
