Placed a call for service early morning and got an appointment for the same afternoon. The 2 plumbers arrived on time, we're very courteous & professional. I explained that the toilet tank was leaking, grout appeared discolored (wet) in the back and on the side by the tank bolts. However, no visible water. They observed no obvious leaks, tank wasn't running, no sweat & valves were dry. Suggested that issue could be the seal (if fixed no company guaranty) or slab leak (required locating water meter, time consuming to see water usage, extensive work & pricey to fix) or perhaps from exiting the shower (which I dismissed immediately). They diligently attempted to locate the outside water meter and suggested that I contact the water department, check meter readings & if I decided to proceed with work would give me a $60 credit as I was charged $125 service fee. I decided to call a different company & this plumber diagnosed the problem immediately. He simply removed some grout, removed the caps on the tank bolts and observed water by the wax ring. Concluded that leaking was attributed to a bad seal. Replaced all, gave company guaranty & cost was $75 less. If this hands on diagnostic work was done in the first place, I would have $125 in my pocket.

Bradford Septic (now RAIDER ROOTER) was highly recommended to me by my brother and sister-in-law, who are very picky about whom they hire. However, Raider Rooter does not provide quality service. On 5/21/21, I signed a contract with RR and gave them a deposit of $4,335 for them to install a new drainfield. I was told that the job would be completed in 30-60 days. They did not even begin to work on the drainfield for 90 days. On 9/21/21 I received a change order, which I was pressured to sign. According to this order, I would have to pay an additional $4,000 because RR determined that I needed a lift station. This is something they should have determined when they gave me a quote, but, of course, they were off the hook for this because of the fine print of the contract. By the time they installed the drainfield, I had had the septic tank pumped SIX times. Yes, they reduced each of those charges by $100, but I still spent over $1,000 pumping the tank! When the drainfield was finally installed, it failed not one, not two, not three, but FOUR inspections! And because they tore up my yard so badly and left huge piles of dirt sitting all over the yard for weeks, I had to pay $600 for sprinkler pipes and heads to be repaired. I also had to pay $2,113.25 for new sod. Yes, RR put grass seed down, but it wasn't the right kind of grass (St. Augustine), it looked awful, and it wouldn't have lasted. And, yes, RR took $1,000 off my final bill of $8,135 (in addition to the $4,335 I had already paid) because they know they BOTCHED this job, but it wasn't nearly enough. My sprinkler and sod guys told me they had never before seen such massive destruction from the installation of a new drainfield.
