We had them come over to fix a shower. The plumber was professional and quick but the charges were quite high. We were charged $156.00 per hour which included the round trip. Google Maps estimates the round trip to be about 30 minutes. We were charged 1 hour. There are 2 types of replacement cartridges. The regular one which is made of plastic and costs about $32 and the heavy duty one (made of metal) which costs about $60. We got charged $75 for the plastic one. Total cost $350 to change a cartridge. Again, the plumber was professional and worked quickly and did the job correctly but I think the charges were too high.

They were a no-show for the day we scheduled for service. When I called, they said they had too many emergency calls and couldn't take care of their scheduled appointments. When I made the appointment, I was only the 2nd or 3rd appointment of the day, meaning nearly all their scheduled calls were abandoned for the day.

We selected this company for a service call on our furnace based on it's glowing reviews. The service was fine, it was the charge that was completely outrageous!

Our furnace blower would not come on when we tried to turn the furnace on for the first time this season, we couldn't imagine what the problem was, so we gave them a call.

Come to find out, the drain that handles the condensation that occurs normally with our type of furnace and the humidifier, had become clogged (even though we had the furnace ect. ""cleaned and checked"" a year ago) so the blower wouldn't come on due to water sitting there.

The technician cleaned out the drain, which is in the basement floor next to the furnace, the associated 6-7 hoses and ran about a gallon of water down the pvc pipe connected to the furnace/humidifier to further clean everything out.

This took in total, including the diagnosis time, about an hour. I'm not including the additional 35 minutes or so the technician spent afterwards on the phone in his vehicle or writing/rewriting the service report in our home. This ""repair"" didn't require going outside, nor any parts and was on a Thursday morning, so normal service call fee applied.

The grand total for this hour of diagnosis and ""repair""? $432.00!! That pouring an additional gal of water down the pipe part? $82 of it was just for that, what does that tell you?

Last but not least, we were never offered a ""repair estimate"" before the work was done, though we were handed one along with the bill.

Our kitchen sink was backed up and I was referred to R.J. Kuhn for help. I called them at around 8:45am and they arrived at around 9:30am. So fast! They fixed our issue very quickly, were very knowledgeable and friendly, and the final price was much better than I was expecting. We will definitely use them for any issues we have in the future!

We called RJ Kuhn after they were recommended by another plumber that couldn't come to our house on short notice for an emergency call. We have a tankless water heater that heats both our baseboard heating as well as the rest of the water for the house. There was water pouring out of the unit and I called them in a panic. The dispatcher was quick to send someone over and called to communicate exact timing (and even said if we could wait 30 more minutes, we wouldn't be charged an off-hours price). Rob came over and took a look at our system. Not only did he discover the problem and put in a temporary fix until the new parts came in, but he explained how the whole system worked so we could better identify any issues that might arise in the future. He was also very pleasant and funny.

Because we had to order replacement parts, I spoke with Michele from the office on a regular basis until the parts came in. The parts supplier was very difficult to deal with but she called distributor after distributor until she found someone that could handle the parts we needed for us and called me on a regular basis with updates. Finally, when the parts came in, we had Rob come back to permanently fix the issue. He was once again, very pleasant and professional and even quickly installed a new kitchen faucet for us.

It is very difficult to find competent, fast, and reliable contractors, but that is exactly what RJ Kuhn's team is. We will definitely be hiring RJ Kuhn again for any plumbing projects we have in the future!

We used RJ Kuhn for two separate emergencies, a sump pump failure and for an issue with our furnace. In both situations RJ Kuhn responded very quickly and did an excellent job. Each technician performed exceptionally well and completed their work professionally and rapidly. They were also very reassuring throughout each process and really helped us move forward. I would highly recommend this company for plumbing and HVAC especially if you have an emergency and need something done fast with reliable service.

Professional service was provided and they even cleaned up well after themselves. This company far exceeded our expectations and we will certainly use them again. I hired RJ Kuhn on a referral from my financial advisor, who is also on our village's Chamber of Commerce. I needed a whole-house humidifier installed, and RJ Kuhn did the job better than I expected for a competitive price. The dispatcher was in constant contact with me the morning of the installation. Although they were a couple hours late it was not an issue since I was home for the day; and I understand the prior job ran over.

Once RJ Kuhn's mechanic arrived, he was very professional and explained everything he would do. The installation went without a hitch, which included tapping into the existing electrical and plumbing systems. When the mechanic was finished I was in awe how professional the installation looked and operated. He gave me a demo of the operation, and also provided an RJ Kuhn calendar along with the documentation of the humidifier.

One week after the installation, the house has a very comfortable humidity level to counteract the dryness from the sub-zero outdoor temperatures.

R.J. Kuhn did a good enough job, but the charges were excessive in my opinion.. They jetted out the sewer line from my house. When the problem reoccurred 6 months later, I called another firm. I was charged $1800 by Kuhn and only $350 by the other firm (Fox Valley Sewer Services). To be fair, the other firm used only the jetter straight away, but looking at Kuhn's charges, jetting alone would have cost about $770.00. Fox Valley was less than half the price, was available faster, and did a very good job.

Installed a new hotwater heater last October. We are long-time customers-Called them recently when we found we had no hotwater. checked fuses etc. Technician came out on a Sat. very promptly. Discovered someone had mistakenly disconnected the heater. Had some work done in that area and probably my husband did it thinking it was the extension cord he was using. Kuhn tech. connected it-felt very foolish. Charged us $202.00. Very costly mistake on our part-very poor Customer relations on their part-could see a charge but this was outrageous. Never gave us a bill and I called. They said they would send the copy and told me I signed it. I didnt. Sent an invoice but no signature. This company has the reputation for big time charges but this was un believeable.
