Recommended Customer Reviews
Very disappointed with Quinn's. Promised to do work"" the next day"" but never showed up. He cashed my check and will not return calls.
I never submit reviews but after this nightmare experience I had to sign up for Yelp and post this to save potential future customers the headache and frustration.
John Quinn was hired to complete work on our bathroom, which was still not done 75+ days after contract deadline and no responses to numerous attempts to schedule completion of work.
Very frustrated and disappointed due to:
-Failed to honor contract (contract stated services to be completed by December 10, 2013 but still not completed as of February 21, 2014 and John Quinn not returning calls/emails to schedule completion)
-Unreasonable or excessive delay in services (multiple no-shows, no responses for requests to finish the job, unqualified sub-contractors with unsupervised workers with shoddy workmanship; bathroom was completely out of commission for 2 months, then finally had toilet hooked up but no shower/bath or sink until we found someone else to finish the job)
-Poor Customer Service (failed to return numerous phone calls and emails--I have documentation of all such emails; the only few responses to emails said, ""We'll get back to you,"" which they never did, except to follow up with, ""We'll get back to you."")
-Unauthorized charges to credit card (my credit card was charged on December 9, 2013 without my permission for the amount that was to have been submitted at the time of completion of the job)
-Other (sub-contractors showed up without appropriate supplies: used my trash can as a bucket and then took it, shoddy paint job, including not using painters tape or similar product to protect corners of walls and doorway edging, primer visible in many areas; walked off with my remaining gallon of Sherwin Williams Emerald paint; incorrectly installed bathtub drain; incomplete grout work)
Sept. 13, 2013 Update:
Having Angie's List HVAC professionals looking over the ""work"" undertaken by John Quinn. As already documents/photographed and discussed with manufacturer, the ""installation"" workmanship is not according to manufacturer's or industry standards. Additionally, the units partially provided (not all) are not what was agreed upon in the contract (they are ""smaller capacity"" units). John Quinn also advertises that he is North American Technician Excellence (NATE)-certified. Received confirmation from Director of NATE that he is not. Investigating John Quinn's claims of possessing ""three engineering degrees."" Will provide update upon documentation. He is still AWOL. Refuses to return my calls. Refuses to return my emails. He advertises ""satisfaction guaranteed"" and much, much more. The only thing I'm getting--in addition to serious financial damage--is MORE financial damage. John Quinn -- please respond, reply!

Sept. 14, 2013 Update: Contacted the City of Philadelphia: Licenses and Inspections and was informed that as of today John Quinn only has a standard business license and his plumbing and steel (something) licenses have expired a while ago. (Note: Not sure about all the different types of licenses required or not-required.) Still no returned calls or emails from John Quinn (no response, no information, no requests, nothing).
Richard R.BEWARE -- My gas-fired hot water heating system was not working properly. Quinn, a local company, visited my home and gave me an estimate for three ""boiler tune-ups"" ranging from $1500 to $2700, including installation of fancy new equipment. I immediately knew this estimate was way too high because a worker from the gas company had already told me that all mechanical parts were working OK in my home, and that the radiator system just needed to be drained and re-filled because there were air pockets in the system. So I got another estimate from a different company, and the job was done perfectly for just $400.... with excellent results. I am so glad I did not have Quinn do the work! The estimate that Quinn gave me was an insult.
We called Quinn to fix our heater because he was advertised in our neighborhood paper. Quinn arrived and gave me a long complicated story about all these things that needed replacement and refitting. His explanation of repairs didn't make sense to me and wow! was his estimate high!
Two other heater guys said it was a simple problem with my heater and told me nothing needed replacing. We ended up hiring Goodman plumbers who finished the job within 2 hours and charged me about 1/4 of what Quinn wanted. If you're thinking of hiring Quinn Plumbing, I recommend you keep looking.
