I am so happy I found Proper Hour Handyman. As a female property owner I have had a lot of frustrating dealings with tradesmen - patronized, talked down to, ghosted. The response from Proper Hour Handyman was exceptional each time whether by text or email, I got an almost immediate response from Max. Their technician, Edward, was polite, thorough and did an excellent job replacing interior doors and painting. It wasn't a big job, but it was important to me. Very happy with the results.

Very responsive and great communication with scheduling. The quality of work was excellent and I could tell a lot of time, care and attention went into the job. The primary work was installation of an undermount sink in an outdoor kitchen, which included some very technical cutting adjustments to the kitchen frame which they spent hours getting accurate. I was really impressed with the time they took to make sure the job was done right.

The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because there was a language barrier with communicating with the technician when he arrived -- he was using Google translate to get an understanding of the project. I would have appreciated a more upfront understanding that there wouldn't be someone there at the beginning of the appointment who I'd be able to go over the details of the project with so they could address my questions and concerns before the work begins, and communicate any information and instructions I had to the technician. The technician was great, knowledgeable, and did high quality work, but I would have preferred to have been given an option for having a translator onsite at the beginning of the appointment just to make sure I felt confident about everything that was going to happen before the work began. It's a bit nerve racking to not have the clearest communication before things start getting cut and work starts. But after I communicated my concern to the office they sent someone over right away who was able to help address my questions and explain the additional work that was going to happen.

Our bathroom towel rack had fallen off the wall. The Proper Hour Handyman technician replaced and patched and painted the walls. He also replaced a wooden strip on our floor. The work was performed quickly and we love the results. Like new!

Had several contractors come out to quote an install for a crystal chandelier in our stairway... but no one had access to the right equipment that would fit in our narrow 39"" wide hallway. Proper Hour had scaffolding that worked and they also installed dimmable LED switches to control the new lights.

Proper Hour not only was able to get it done in a few hours but also set the appointment quickly. Very happy with the work.

I hired Proper Hour Handyman Service through Thumbtack. My Ring doorbell was offline and I didn't know where to start fixing it. They were responsive and said they would send someone out the next day between 9 -10 am. The day of, they called at 8:15 am and said there was an emergency and the person would arrive at 2 pm and he did arrive at that time. I wish he had a business card to identify himself and on top of that he didn't speak a word of English. While I was somewhat hesitant, the man was pleasant, we managed to communicate through google translate and my Ring was repaired.

Made an appointment to have one of their handyman come over to do several projects. When I initially contacted them, they gave me a bid for $800 for the projects, which seemed VERY HIGH. When I asked about it, they offered to do it for an hourly fee which was reasonable. They did all but one of the projects for a cost of $270, so they lost one star for overbidding.

They gave me an appointment time at 10:30, but called at 10:10 to tell me he was running late and it would be another hour. Okay, credit for calling, but I rushed home to meet them at 10:30 so I wasn't super happy about how things were starting.

When he arrived, we discussed all the projects using Google translate. A bit time-consuming, but they didn't charge me for that time. All in all, the handyman did a great job, cleaned up after himself, and checked in with me several times to make sure I was happy with the work. I will definitely use them again, but at the hourly rate instead of a bid rate.

Update: The office quickly followed up on my concerns with their service and refunded me part of the cost and asked if there were other ways they could make up for our poor experience. I appreciate that they are focused on customer service and wanted to make it right.
