I called this company this morning after receiving some bad advice from Home Depot about an odor under my kitchen sink. The plumber told me what to do over the phone and was super nice. It was simple enough to do myself so I didn't have to pay for a plumber to actually handle it.

As a life-long DIY guy I seriously considered replacing and moving my own water heater; my now very bad back and the Dallas Code requirement for a permit (meaning a licensed plumber) said "NO"!

My lowboy water heater, located under the stairs to the garage, wasn't supplying enough hot water for two morning showers. To increase capacity required a move 6 feet to the other side of the plumbing wall and into the garage.

I purchased a Rheem Platinum 50 gallon from HomeDepot and thought I'd use their plumbing service, advertised at $298 for installation. A total non-starter! Only the most basic replacement job of a same-size heater in the same location using the existing plumbing is possible for that price. Everything else is extra cost at "same-day emergency rates".

Not being in an emergency I took my time. Professor Plumb I found through their excellent Yelp reviews. Other plumbers I sourced through Home Advisor and similar sites. This part was disappointing experience in that pricing varied wildly, and as a group, they were either ignorant of the Dallas Plumbing Code (I've read it) or were being deliberately misleading to run up my bill.

Professor Plumb was great right from the start. Clearly they've read the plumbing code and I was comfortable that they were straightforward, honest people. Blue spoke with me on the phone and organized my job. His partner Brian actually did the work. Both were knowledgeable, polite and transparent about their pricing.

Professor Plumb charged a standard, all-inclusive fee of $648 for my water heater installation. Quotes from others were as high as $1,200.

The work was done efficiently, properly and was completed at a fair price by Professor Plumb. I will certainly be using them again. And I recommend them to you.

BTW, after engaging them to do the job I found that I could have purchased the same Rheem heater through them instead of HomeDepot and at exactly the same price. Now that I know them that's exactly what I would do.

Blue from Professor Plumb came out to snake a clogged drain pipe. He came on time, was professional and courteous, and got the job done. The price was as quoted on the phone. He gave advice on how I could do the work myself in the future, which I appreciated. Highly recommended.

Based solely on Yelp reviews, we decided to give this plumber a try. We were having some indications that we might have a leak. I was expecting to have to pay someone a fee for coming out and looking, plus a fee to fix the problem. Professor Plumb came out, climbed in our tiny crawl space and told us that everything looked fine. Most plumbers probably would have "found" something that needed to be fixed. This one though was honest and trustworthy. Then, he told us that he wasn't going to charge us! (Don't expect the same results, but you can expect honesty, integrity and professionalism.) Highly, highly recommend!

Professor Plumb definitely provided 5-star service! I needed a new hot water heater and Professor Plumb came to the rescue. He provided very prompt service at a fair price. I wan't here during the service, but from looking at the work, it's obvious he really knows what he is doing and puts the customer first! He also called me this evening with a follow-up call to be certain that I was happy with the work. The cost of the job came out slightly higher than quoted, but he gave me a discount to get back to the original cost. He also added a flood protection system with an auto-shutoff for a very fair price. He was on time, reliable, and really took the time to do the job right. I highly recommend Professor Plumb for any of your plumbing needs!

We've found a plumber! Blue came out today to install a new kitchen faucet. He was on time, neat, and knew exactly what he was doing. His pricing was more than fair. Would recommend Professor Plumb to anyone looking for a professional, responsive and fairly priced plumber.

We were very pleased with Professor Plumb. He was available exactly when we wanted him, his price was very competitive to install two water heaters (he was the lowest of three I called), he was friendly, did a great installation, took the old ones away. There is nothing negative I could say about his work. His associate was friendly and courteous as well. While here, he looked at our lawn sprinkler system which had an issue, and helped with the repair of that with no charge. We would definitely hire again for any plumbing need.

I read tons of reviews on Yelp, but never write them - until now. Professor Plumb is the real deal. We had an issue where our tub was backing up and the toilet would not flush, a nightmare, especially when you have only one bathroom. My hero of a husband had given a valiant effort, snaking the pipes and even climbing on the roof to try and repair the problem. However, it was Blue and Professor Plumb to the rescue. He walked my husband through the repair process, gave us several tips on how to reduce the possible recurrence of the problem (buying a new toilet, changing toilet paper, etc) and gave us an incredibly fair quote for the pipes that we'll need to replace. Needless to say, his refreshing honesty and the overall experience have made us customers for life. A sincere thank you to Blue!

Great experience with Brian and Blue at Professor Plumb! I moved to Texas with my gas dryer and the home I moved into was only setup for an electric dryer. I quoted the job with 3 different plumbers and Professor Plumb came in with the best price and best reviews. Brian was able to setup the gas line on a Thursday, the city inspector came on Friday and green tagged the job and Brian came back Friday afternoon and finished the job. I had my dryer working by that evening. They also have great communication by calling ahead to let you know they are coming and they show up when they say they are going to arrive. These guys are great and I would recommend them to anyone.

Great plumbing experience!

I had a broken valve outside....Professor Plumb diagnosed the problem over the phone and gave me an upfront price. Was completely open and honest on their pricing and services. They then came out quickly and fixed the problem...at a LOWER PRICE! These are good honest people and are one of the few that are not trying to take advantage of people. Very prompt and professional!
