we had water leaking from our heater/air-conditioning condenser. Two companies came out, one with my home warranty company. Neither one of them felt comfortable doing the job. The second company I called, Accurate, recommended Professor Gatsby's. I called their office at 4 o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon and they were here by 12:30 on Wednesday afternoon. From the initial phone call to the technicians leaving my house they were polite, professional p, explained everything that needed to be done and their prices were extremely reasonable. I highly recommend this company for your HVAC needs.

UPDATE on 4/14/22 review:
We did what we thought and hired Professor Gatsby's Heating and Cooling to replace our entire HVAC system, heating and cooling. What a great decision!
I am very leary of contractors, especially those that seem to be too good to be true. I now understand why this business has so many 5 star rave reviews. They did exactly as was proposed to us, no variation and accomplished it faster than I thought. They handled everything from start to finish. They contacted SJ Gas and arranged for the gas piping to be run to the house and that was handled with no problems. They showed up when they said they would - had all the materials needed to complete the installation in one day and left the house as they found it. Except for the new HVAC system in the basement - you wouldn't know they were even here.
They arranged and handled all the rebates involved, not only from their company but from the HVAC manufacturer and SJ Gas as well.
Might we have saved a few dollars by shopping multiple HVAC companies - perhaps but what price can be given on a job that was done professionally and without any headaches for the homeowners,

I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend Professor Gatsby's Heating and Cooling.

BTW - everyone we spoke with, office people or estimator or installers, were extremely nice and very professional.

tl:dr; Though they arrived near the tail end of the appointment window, they diagnosed the problem correctly, quoted us fairly, did not use obvious fear tactics, and did the job well.

My house is distinctive in the fact that for 16 years, its Air Conditioner has never been on. It was always remarkably inefficient to run and we never had a real need. When we finally decided this year that this is the year of the AC, no shocker, it didn't work. To make things better, it's an R-22 type which means those ACs will stop being supported in a few months.

I went down a journey of bringing in many contractors whom I won't name... explicitly. Many companies saw the horizon of our soon-to-be-discontinued AC and they pushed hard to replace it, saying it couldn't be fixed, shouldn't be fixed, and even the dean would be against it. Some completely missed the formally bottled up AC and just wanted to maintain it as is.

The owner Matthew came by and was the first one to point out three important points that I expected would happen. That (1) the freon is out, no shocker but (2) that freon technically *still* is available in stock... and even if it's not, there are alternative freons, and (3) while no promises can't be made, there are ways to attempt to patch a leak. Bonus points that Matthew stood by his work saying if the leak patching did not work, they'd let us use the costs we'd pay towards the cost of a new AC + Blower unit.

This is not something I took for granted. Some companies went over the Horizon in costs so great, it didn't make any mathematical sense. Some went back on promises towards paying for a new AC, after they were made, like a dean in a bad university.

Matthew, and Professor Gatsby as a whole, was the first to actually pinpoint the problem and spoiler alert, was 100% right about it. Not only that, but the price was remarkably reasonable if not the best, out of everyone that did come by. There's not much more I can say, they nailed it in a sea of many failures.

The only downside I had was in the appointment window they gave us, they did come at the very tail end, which put me late in my schedule. But I'd rather have someone come late and do things right, than come early and do things wrong or give me a salesman pitch. Because of this, be aware that times could go either way, but I'm not deducting any stars in this review because they nailed it, and that's what matters most to me.
