I always look to find a silver lining in products and services. After two engagements with this company, I feel compelled to leave a brutally honest review.

We had what we thought was a clogged toilet that at some point extended to the shower drain in the same bathroom. I called Proactive, and to their credit, they were able to squeeze me in the same day although they told me they were totally booked that day. Since they had been out before for a leaky faucet, which they were able to fix (although the tech was less than pleasurable to work with), I decided to give them another call for my toilet clog.

A tech I won't call out by name came ahead of schedule (great! I thought), and again to his credit, immediately indicated the problem was in the main drain line (to the city feed). Once he pulled the cover to the main drain line in the garage, things started going south (not in the right way). Once the tech realized that the valve flap was involved, he immediately started posturing the issue to be something 'they couldn't take care of', and it would be way too expensive for them to engage in. He advised that we should do this ourselves, or get a 'contractor' to work on it, as this was too difficult for him/them, to take on.

Disappointment immediately set in, as we thought the issue was SO MAJOR, we'd have to break up the garage concrete and dig down to replace the valve the tech indicated was in serious trouble, and would cause the entire house to be involved at any moment.

In the end, we called Bill Howe Plumbing, having never worked with them before, to see if they had a different opinion. Bill Howe's team dug right in, literally, was able to open the flap valve opening Proactive Plumbing said they couldn't do, because it was 'too hard for them', and was able to resolve my issue that day, for the exact same price Proactive plumbing charged me for doing basically nothing but scaring us and saying they couldn't help.

Proactive seem to have basic plumbing skills, but for us, they were anything BUT proactive.

Amazing! I have dealt with many plumbers over the years. Mike the owner of Proactive plumbing was extremely professional and just a genuinely good guy. Good guys like mike are hard to find like that these days. One of mikes professional plumbers Mark came out to my house and within a few moments you could tell he too was a professional and a genuinely good guy. Proactive plumbing exceeded all my expectations. They stand by their work in a courteous and professional manner. Very refreshing to know their are still people like mike and mark out there. On Tuesday morning, while in the garage, we heard a noise: water dripping through an open access hatch (left after getting the tub/shower replaced a year ago) while the shower was being used.
While I normally do many repairs, on this one, I didn't even consider it, figuring it was a problem inside the wall or ceiling.
I found Proactive Plumbing on Yelp and called them, leaving a message. Steve texted me back almost immediately. We exchanged messages by text and voice, he said he'd be here between 2 and 4 pm. Great!
Around noon, I got a call from Mike with Proactive's. He was running ahead of schedule and could be over shortly. ""Okay, see you in a half hour.""
Mike arrived as promised and very quickly found a problem. The pipe with the shower head was loose, and had been installed backwards by a contractor over a year ago. (It hadn't leaked up to now.) It took less than ten minutes and a bit of Teflon tape to repair and test it. Mike said, ""This was quick and easy. There will be no charge."" I didn't argue with that.
I'll certainly call them again when I have plumbing issues!

Found Proactive Plumbing;on a list of recommended vendors put out by my condo community residents. We had a slab leak and caught the leak before it had flooded our unit. It was 11 at night. However, when I called Proactive, Mike answered, He was very coridal and told us to turn off our water valve to contain the leak. He said he would be by early the next morning.
True to his word, he arrived, and expertly explained several options we migh choose. Mike is very well-versed in his field, and is not only a highly intelligne and expert plymber, but a friendly, concerned, and accommodating person.

He found the leak and with the aid of his able assistant ran a new hot water pipe through ous attic, so that he didn't have to break up the concrete. He kept the wall damage to a minimum and even cleaned up after. The dry wall repairmab even said Proactive did in a great job in keeping the damage to a minimum and that the work was excellent. We would never use any plumbers but Proactive. We highly recommend them to anyone who wants a reasonably priced, yet expert plumbing outcome. Kudos to all of you at Proactive, parfticularly Mike.

Just moved into my aunt's place in San Marcos with my husband. We weren't getting any hot water in our shower in the master bedroom. I shower in the downstairs bathroom before work.

Get to work at 7 am and I Yelp find ""plumber"" near ""San Marcos, CA"" and Proactive Plumbing shows up with raving and legit-looking reviews (check legit-ness by seeing how many other reviews the reviewers write because sometimes there are obvious fakes).

The husband texts me it will be $190 to fix. I'm surprised that they are there, it's 8:59 am. He says a cartridge replacement is needed.

9:23 am - I get a text saying ""they're done.""

Wow. Less than 3 hours from yelping them and the job is done. We are now having warm showers and don't have to walk downstairs to get ready for work. Thank you!

I needed a couple of minor things done in the house and called Proactive Plumbing because of the Yelp reviews.

No issues with the price or service. Prices were very fair and service was quick. I was told they would be here between 11 and 1. Miles showed up at 11, I walked him through what I needed done and he said, ""no problem, should be fairly quick."" Miles is true professional, he walked me through what he had to do and what they don't do (fix drywall, I needed a gas line dropped). I told him to do what he needs to do, my only concern was making the wife happy.

He finished that fairly quick, not being a plumber I figured it would have taken longer than what it did and he was on next the item which involved turning the water off in the house. After he replaced the cartridge in the shower and turned the water back on he noticed another problem and explained to me what was going on and what needed to be done to fix. It wasn't on the list of repairs at the time and I didn't expect him to take any action on it.

After he finished both jobs he cleaned his work areas, except for what I told him to leave, and made sure everything was put back the way it was supposed to be.

Bottom line: True professionals, quick, courteous, priced fairly, and I will definitely call them back in the future. If you're need of a plumber I would give Proactive a serious consideration.

What can I say I know Steve and proactive pluming for 5 years and finishing few projects for me and also referred few customers and every body are happy. Very nice job Steve. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had just moved to North County after buying our first house. After about a week we discovered several things that was wrong with the house. One of these items was that the old owners must have had a water softener at some point that had failed, because the small yellow beads had been shot into the whole system and was now clogging the backyard faucet.

I called Proactive Plumbing and they sent out their guy, Steve, a couple of days later. He took a look at the faucet and installed a ""twin faucet"" in its place. He then took the hose and connected the front yard faucet (that was working) to the twin faucet he had just installed. He then told me to shoot water in trough one side and then open up the other side to let it run out. Repeat until the problem was solved. I did this process the following day for about 30-49 times and had almost given up all hope of success when suddenly all the yellow beads cane shooting out of the clogged faucet.

Thank you Steve! Great idea and saved us a lot of money not having to do a more invasive procedure!
