Requested work on tune up for two furnaces and fixing a water heater that was dripping water . The technician did not have the brass T&P valve and had to come back to fix. We were told that will not charge the extra service call since we were having them come in to tune-up the furnace. The bill for replacing the T&P valve was high considering the valve did not cost more than $30. I requested a break up of the cost which was listed as labor, valve and a rod that needed to be changed. The technician did not change the rod and when we asked why we need to pay for the rod he did not change, he was blatantly rude that we were hackling and that he already lost $50 for the job and would not adjust the price even though he did not change the rod that was included in the bill. The manager has not returned our call. I agree that their ""family-owned"" business has the worst customer service and if they are sub-contracting, they have lousy people who are doing the job. I would highly recommend not using them since they do not carry basic parts for service (why would a heating and cooling company not carry a simple T&P valve, beats me?) and then charge to come again to do the job and charge way over.
I had furnace problems on and had them come out in March. = bad fan motor.
Sales guy ( Jason ) came out on March 10. And sold me a new furnace. And had
it installed on March 11 ( 1 day - great ).
the installers did the following wrong
1) they did not drill a pilot hole to start the opening for hte pipes. They just took measurement, then started drilling outside. And found out the hole was too high - hole started on first floor but furnace in basement. So hole on side of house is too big and ugly due to having to use a lot of fillter to cover an area that should not have been drillerd out.
Note - this area was for intake/exhaust.
2) they crushed the filter - and used it anyway - so it is probably not working quite correct and might be letting dirt into new furnace.
3) they said that area in basement too small to change filter , so they were supposed to finish by making a filter holder. ( I paid $200 for the part that has not been delivered and the one that was supposed to be used for furnace went out with installers.
4) they did not put screws into makeshift filter box so it has come apart.
5) they drilled holes in basement sink to secure condensate line.
Another A/C company said that they would have put a pipe fitting into tube to weight it down so that it did not move around. I have done some plumbing and that was my solution when I thought about it.
I paid for $4000 for this furnace - I got very high efficiency. When the father of the current owner had the business, he did a lot for me to help me when old furnace ( 18 years ago ) and I recipricated by having them ( 18 years ago ) install furnace and (later )hot water tank. They had my conplete trust.
( new furnace install above replaced the one that father's company installed )
Since they had my trust, I paid the full amount - trusting that they would finish the job when they could. Big mistake. My trust has been broken
It is now July 4th,the install is still not finished.
I called a couple of weeks later and talked to someone who agreeded ( I asked to confirm ) that they were Jason the owner. I told him what had happend, what the issues were. He said that he would be out the next day to look and that he wanted to see the work that his men were doing. He did not show up. I called about 1 week later and was told that he has been out of town for months and could not get a hold of him ( even thought the same person got me connected a week before. ( so I do not believe this statement ).
I have called an threatened law suite -they took the message. No call back.
I called in another A/C contracter to look and he told me what he thought.
( I had wanted to start gathering info for a law suite )
I was told to get the my town to inspect. Found out ( and this is about 2 month later - 2 months aftter install ) that no permit was pulled. So I got town to get them to pull permit and then I got them to inspect it. They put together a list of things to fix. they were to contact company to get them to fix. All I have gotten from them is a note to ask inspection - about 4 weeks after inspection and they should have received a notice to fix.
Bottom line.
they seem to have issuess with how to deal with permits/inspections.
they seem to be untrustworthy.
they are not the company that the father built.
Do not use this company. They do shoddy work and don't stand behind their promises. I had an air conditioning problem over the weekend and since they didn't respond to their emergency call line I had to call another heating and cooling company. Pritchard just installed the unit 11 months ago and all of the freon had leaked out. I had to pay 270.00 to fix it and have been trying to contact the manager to find out how to resolve this issue. He never calls back and even his employees are beginning to feel sorry for me. I have never written a bad review before but just wanted to put a warning out there for anyone considering this company.
Joe C.Prompt and courteous the 2 times I had to schedule service calls. Called around to get quotes once I had to replace my furnace, and Pritchard had the best pricing. Would highly recommend.
Dave W.They performed a gas leak inspection of the boiler at my rental unit. Claimed they mailed me the report of the inspection 4 different times but I never got it. I called their office a dozen times to try and get a copy I needed to turn in to my city inspectors office. After waiting a nearly a month and never getting their report I asked them to email it to me and the lady claimed they had no more copies of the report. I had to pay another company to perform the same service. I left several messages for whom I was told was the owner but he never returned my calls. The customer service from this company is horrendous. They lack any type of organizational skills and can't seem to complete simple tasks like sending a letter through the mail or even sending an email. Pritchard Wilson is the example of how NOT to treat customers. I wouldn't trust this company with any job.
Found Pritchard Heating the Home Advisor Website. Hired them install new furnace and central air. Installation went well and when I went to schedule the inspection with the city I then found out no permit was pulled. I had to stop payment thru credit card company before they finally pulled the permit. Inspection found a couple of issues so they came out to inspect the issue and told me they would call to fix the issues. 3 weeks go by no call and I finally call them and they told me I ""fell thru the cracks"" so I am still waiting for them to finish. Be warned after the installation you will receive no assistance for any problems with this company. They do not respond to phone calls or any follow up.
Char B.Had a service call for a tune-up. After checking around with his meter, he mentioned I needed a new control board (cost-$425), he didn't even clean the flame sensor! I replaced the board myself for ($81) and clean the sensor. I don't think I would trust their expertise
I'm editing my review to reflect recent changes in the situation we're having.
A worker from this company did steal from my house, including controlled medical substances. The worker who came with the one who stole did report him to the owner, who found some of the things that were taken in his truck. My medicine and other items were not found, however the owner has contacted me willing to reimburse any costs incurred by the loss of my medication, among other things that were stolen. The worker who stole was promptly fired. This shows a lot of integrity and I applaud the owner for this.
The work was completed by the owner himself, and our heater now works very well. The reason I'm giving the business two stars is because it's unacceptable that an employee of theirs had the nerve to steal from our home, especially my medication. All things considered, we are satisfied with the quality of the work done with our heater, but the fact that we were robbed by a worker does not reflect well on the business.
In the end I would think long and hard before hiring this business, although the owner was good enough to take responsibility for what happened, and fired the worker responsible.
I had an issue with my blower fan cycling on and off when my AC was running. I contacted Pritchard's because their sticker was on the furnace (i bought the house used about 8 months prior). They told me they worked with Heil furnaces and sent out a technician.
He arrived later that day, promptly and very friendly. He went into the basement and emerged rather quickly telling me how my Nest thermostat was to blame, and how he could easily call them and order a part and it would work just fine. I told him that i had had a Nest technician install the thermostat and he had assured me that the problem was the furnace, not the thermostat.
The Pritchard's technician got very serious, and began to dispel to me and my wife about how if it was his furnace, he wouldn't use it another minute, and so he had disconnected the electrical wiring inside. We became concerned about how our furnace could have depreciated so rapidly, when we had just had our house inspected several months prior and everything had checked out fine. He told us it was in severely bad shape, and laid out several furnace options that Pritchard's just happened to sell, the cheapest of which was $3,000.
I told him that we needed to think about it and see if we could budget it, but in the meantime, what would we do if it got cold again (this was May in Michigan - you never know)? He told me he would come out and rewire it, but for a service fee of course. He then charged us $90 for the visit and never called Nest to see if he was right.
I called Nest a while later to troubleshoot the problem, and after they instructed me to try over a dozen wiring options, they told me that it was the Heil furnace that was causing the blower fan to cycle after all.
So he was wrong.
What else might he have been wrong about?
I had my furnace looked at by a professional, and he assured me that i had many years of life left in it, and then rewired it.
So he was not only wrong, he was intentionally wrong.
I would highly recommend that you never call this place, unless you want someone to lie to you to the tune of $3,000.
Poor Scheduling!
I was scheduled to have a new air conditioner installed today. I was promised at the point of payment that the installation would happen on monday morning by Jim Crain ""The Owners Father"". So I arranged my day to accommodate the installation for Monday. Monday morning I call to find out when to expect the service installers ; the answer I received was ""I'm Not Sure"", then after being put on hold I was told that it was now scheduled for the afternoon. The sad thing is that Pritchard Wilson did not even make a courtesy call first thing in the morning to tell me that they had a delivery problem; so I wasted a whole morning and so far possibly the afternoon.
EDIT TO THE ABOVE: They finally showed up about 3PM. The service Tech's were very good and through and cleaned up well! I guess that I may have been one of the mishaps that happens in business. BTW JIM fInally called me back at 5 PM!!
