Decided to use a plumber rather than do-it-myself to replace a $6.95 filler valve on a toilet. I had used Pride Plumbing a couple of times over the years and was satisfied.

However, this time the two genial and competent technicians, as promised, gave me an ""up front"" (including $25 coupon discount) of $258.09 plus tax..

If I didn't accept the price (which is what I should have done) they would charge me $49.00 for the visit... I believe the price was outrageous for a job that took only a few minutes...

But I did give the go-ahead as I am pretty old and wanted to avoid an accidental mishap doing the job...

It is sad to see what has become of this business... Lesson learned!

Our water heater burst and was leaking - we noticed it on a Sunday so I called Pride Plumbing and left a message under the ""urgent"" option. I didn't get a call back on Sunday, and hadn't heard anything by 10:00 AM on Monday, so I called again. I was told they could have someone out between 12 and 4, but by 4:00 no one had called or come. I understand busy, but I don't understand this type of delay in contacting a customer. Despite these troubles, the reason I am giving 4 stars is because 1) I have used them before and always had prompt service, and 2) Eddie was simply pleasant, professional, neat, and helpful. Eddie arrived at about 4:30. I wanted to switch to a tankless heater, which they didn't have on the truck because apparently the office is supposed to ask when you call about a hot water heater (and they didn't, another ding from the potential 5-star review) but Eddie reviewed all the possibilities with me and explained a lot of the plumbing science to me, concerning where the pipes would run and how many changes he would have made to my finished basement to be able to properly install a tankless heater. He took the time to explain three options, but in the end, I decided that my house was not designed for that upgrade. I was bummed, but he was able to install a replacement 40-gallon heater and he took great care to vacuum up the pooled water. He was patient with our overly-friendly dog, and worked straight through the dinner hour. I am grateful for Eddie's help, and to have a dry basement again, with hot water available for showers. If it weren't for Eddie's service, this review would probably be two stars. Thanks, Eddie!

If it cost me $407 to have a gas dryer hooked up, I can't imagine what a real plumbing emergency would cost. This company is a scam, and they'll either get $50 for the estimate, or completely rip you off with the final bill.

We had a relatively simple plumbing problem. Even though it was not an emergency, Pride Plumbing sent someone the same day. He gave us an estimate on the spot, made the repair, and cleaned up. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and polite. We will definitely call Pride Plumbing when we need a plumber in the future.

Had a very negative experience and would not recommend this company to anyone. Called and requested to speak with a manager and was given the run around. Still waiting. Very displeased customer.

Several weeks ago, I found leakage in my kitchen sink and called Pride Plumbing given its seemingly good reviews. A plumber came and said he had to replace the faucet to fix the leakage problem. I paid about $780 for the replacement (including labor, the faucet they provided, and tax). After the plumber was gone, I searched online and found out their charge was way above the market price. I contacted their staff and was told that because they carried the new faucet on the truck, I need to pay some ""premium"" on that. I asked them to provide a breakdown of the price (price for the faucet and cost of labor). They denied, while offering a ""courtesy"" refund of $75. I checked up the price of the faucet I got from them and it is sold around $200 on plumbmaster.com. So I guess I paid them $500 for replacing a kitchen faucet?!
They treat you pretty nice in the first phone call scheduling for service. Later they told you that your request for price breakdown is a harassment! I seriously do not know where all the other good reviews came from, but my personal experience with them is terrible!

--- Here is an update based on the response from the business ---

Yes, the price was upfront and I did pay for it. But obviously, as a consumer, I did not know 1) whether my kitchen faucet was broken which caused the leakage issue - that is why they need to replace the faucet; and 2) whether they charged a fair price for replacing a kitchen faucet. I did not find that out until after the job was done and I later searched online and checked with my friends. I know I was ripped off.

I called Ross, the owner, and he seemed to first agree that paying $780 for replacing a kitchen faucet was insane and then started explaining they need to charge this price because of a variety of reasons, many of which were mentioned in his response. He did mention the ""premium"" for loading new faucets on their trucks and selling them to consumers when there is a need. Premium was his exact wording - otherwise I would not have known there was such a premium. In my last phone call with him, he also mentioned for the type of faucet I got from them I should pay more than $400. So I guess they charged me $200 premium for a new kitchen faucet that is sold around $200 online?!

I really do not enjoy talking with the office staff. When I talked with Ross the day when the job was done, he said he would check the paperwork and give me a call about refund next Monday. I never got a phone call back from him next Monday. For the entire week, I was told that he was having an emergency and was not in office, and no one can make the decision. The week after, I was out of town for a conference. So I did not call them, and of course, no phone call from them, no refund. Then the week after, when I contacted them again, the staff became very impatient and aggrasive. They denied my request for a breakdown of the replacement price I have paid already. And Ross kept asking me what I do for making a living. Is this relevant?! Obviously, they believe consumers have no right to know what they actually paid for, but they want customers to disclose their professions. How ridiculous it is.

Finally, as a person who does not know plumbing, I respect those licensed plumbing professionals and am willing to pay for their time and work. But the information asymmetry problem as I noted earlier does make many people like me easily ripped off by these business. I paid for the price, did learn the lesson, and I have wasted so much time with them. I am writing this post simply to provide more information to any prospective consumers in the future.

Wow - IMPRESSIVELY prompt service.

Called early in the morning because (surprise) there's poop backing up into my basement, and they had someone at my door within an hour.

Had a very good (knowledgable and courteous) technician Sam who came out and quickly took care of the problem.

Because of the situation, I was in no place to go through the whole ""get three quotes and compare options"" thing, but you know what, at that point I was happy just to be able to flush my toilets again. I also don't think their price was far off.

Yes, they will charge you a fee to come out and diagnose your problem, but so will everyone else. I don't work for free and nobody else should be expected to either.

I can not say enough good things about Pride Plumbing. They were absolutely amazing, trustworthy and reliable in every sense. My plumber was David and he was knowledgeable, customer-oriented and spoke to me in terms that I understood. I hadn't owned my home for more than a week when we had David from Pride plumbing came over and assist us. Also, they offered an amazing financing option which helped us big time. I would highly recommend David and the staff at pride plumbing and I also know that we will be using them for any of our plumbing needs in the future. If you are thinking about it just do it. They are trustworthy and will only do the best work. I can't emphasize enough that the quality of work done is worth every penny.

$400/hr?! Are they crazy? WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. STAY AWAY. There are plumbers who will do great work and are more reasonably priced.

First off, these guys charge $50 just to come out and look at the job. I had them quote replacing one outdoor frost-free spigot and they quoted $470. The guy mentioned it would only take an hour. The materials cost less than $70 which means they're charging $400 for an hour of work! That's just insane. The quoting process took less than 10 minutes and now I'm out $50. (If you choose them they put the $50 service fee towards the work so them just quoting tries to lock you into the job.)

We had a second contractor come out who quoted materials for $50-$70 and 1 hr of work for $125. This is less than half the price of Pride Plumbing! Check out Spampinato Mechanical Contractors for reasonable pricing and quality work.

The only difference was that Pride could do the work the same day but I'm going to have to wait a few days on the other contractor. Still, $470 vs $195? Think twice before having them come by.
