I have nothing but good things to say about Preston Plumbing. I use them at my home and at work and he has never failed us. I read through all the other Yelps and there's one that is not right. If you hook the water up backwards to an electric water heater it still works. And there's no way that would make your house short out. Sounds like your house in Salinas has a electrical issue. If the water was installed backwards the unit would still work you would just get a few gallons less hot water out of it

My tenant had Preston's Heating and plumbing replace an electric water heater at our property in Salinas in October 2018. The unit failed in August 2019, and shorted out the power in the house. The person doing the repair reported that the unit failed because it was installed with the water flow reversed. The tenant reported the unit never heated the water right. I had to have someone else replace the water heater and repair the electric circuit in the house. Preston's was on vacation and I could not wait two weeks for my tenant to go without electricity or hot water.
I asked Preston's to at least go pick up the failed water heater and possibly get a manufacturers refund since it was less than a year old.
Two months later and the water heater is still sitting in the yard.

I manage an 80 unit senior housing complex with forced air furnaces located in very small crawl spaces above the garden walkup units. We have used Preston's Plumbing & Heating for the past 10+ years and found out that he and Tamara actually did work for the previous managers as well.

They have always, always been gracious, friendly and thorough in their work; prices are reasonable and NEVER, EVER have either of them or his son Patrick been rude, grumpy or indifferent in any way. I have never been made to wait for long periods of time, and that is only when parts need to be ordered. If he is working on another job and cannot make it, he will say so and has never said he doesn't work on anything someone else has worked on. The person giving him 1 star either is not being truthful or had contact with someone other than Preston's Plumbing & Heating. They are THE BEST!

Water heater went out, called sterling property management where I was assured they would take care of it. Received a call from Preston's plumbing the same day, had Preston come in the next morning. Everything was taken care of in a timely friendly manner. Impressed at how quickly this was able to be taken care of! Thank you guys for giving us hot water again!

OMG, I called Preston's Plumbing & Heating to ask about a special issue that with the drain of my water heater. I need to have the cement drilled out to put the over-flow out of the laundry room. Preston's wife Tamara answered all my questions and told me that Preston's Plumbing does not do the cement cutting work. THEN, she provided me with another local plumber that has the proper equipment to do the job. FANTASTIC! Awesome advise and service! Next time I need plumbing work, I'll definitely call back.

We used Preston's Plumbing & Heating to re-route a gas line, replace some rusted valves, and add sediment traps to appliances in our home. Not only did he complete the job quickly, but the new plumbing was routed very cleanly and the job was completed under the bid price. PG& E examined my wall heater and diagnosed a gas valve replacement, plus some. A neighborhood general contractor told me to replace the thermostat. I replaced the thermostat with no luck; heater still not working. Macs Stove staff on Broadway Avenue are wonderful and showed me how to check for a bad gas valve. Well, this time PGE were correct. My retired plumber, Mac's stove and Yelp highly praised Preston's Plumbing and Heating for good reason: they are very professional, show up on time without an extra fee, get the job done right and will inform you of all options. Our furnace broke in on December 31st. Great. Who would be available so close to the New Year's holiday? Well, Preston Plumbing was, and I got a real live person who answered my call. Tamara was very sympathetic and got her husband to stop by on his way home. Sadly, the furnace needed parts and so we had to wait. Once the parts came in, our heater was fixed and all was well. I found this small company to be a total pleasure to work with. My homeowner's warranty company agreed to pay the bill (though Preston was not contracted by them) and Tamara was so gracious as to say ""wait until they reimburse you the $900 plus"" and then pay us. Now, that's what I call service! I highly recommend them for their friendly customer service, and ability to fix our furnace.

As a side note, I'm puzzled at the person who rated Preston with one star, saying he was gruff and rude? Are you sure that was Preston? The first time he came to our home, he was very friendly. In fact, I would say that Preston and his wife were some of the friendliest people I've met in the service industry. Anytime I called, the phone was answered. If my call went to voice mail, I'd get a fast return call with an apology that they hadn't answered the first time. Me thinks you have the wrong company, sir.

Preston's Plumbing replaced my furnace when PGE informed me I had a cracked part and CO2 was leaking. This was Thanksgiving week last year and Preston got it ordered and in before guests arrived. And the price was 2/3 the cost of the other quote I received. I had meant to write a review last year and forgot but when I just called him regarding another job on a rental property I was reminded how friendly his wife is and how authentically happy they seem to receive the call and the business. Bravo!
