Needed pipes replaced. Old Cast Iron. Eric Adams from Preferred came out. Did a through inspection. Quoted me an excellent price to replace the pipes after running a camera through the lines showing me the tree roots and the pipe decomposing internally. He worked mostly by himself on the job. Took him two days and a lot of hours. Eric did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. I told him that he was my GO TO GUY from now on. I am not sure what problems everyone else has had with this company , but I can assure you that when you call, ask for Eric Adams. YOU WON'T

My toilet was leaking from the bottom. I called Preferred Plumbing and Tony # 74 came to my house promptly. Tony was very polite and courteous from the minute I opened the door. He was very knowledgeable and explained what the issue was and what needed to be fixed and replaced. Tony # 74 gave me an accurate estimate which I agreed to. He quickly fixed the problem and my toilet was in good working condition again. Tony had great customer service skills and I would definetely recommend Tony # 74 if you are in need of a plumber. He is both extremely knowledgeable and courteous.

Once he inspected the shower and discovered what he needed to do, he told us what he needed to do and kept us informed every step of the way. Our tub drain got clogged a couple days ago and stopped draining completely. It left pool of water for hours at a time before it went down. Brad stopped by in less than an hour after we called which was also 7:30 at night!He was able to clear the drain in 10 minutes. The whole thing was quick and painless and less than an hour! Preferred Plumbing was great! VERY reasonable price to fix an underground leak in my front yard. The guy who came out, Eddie, was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. He fixed the pipe in a very timely manner, and gave me a price below what I thought it would cost, which was so nice. Project
Our issue was that when the dishwasher was draining, ALL of the water was coming out from the air gap into the sink. I do mean ALL of the water.


The good!
Let me start by saying that Cody was very personable, quick and informative. He immediately diagnosed that it could be either 1. The discharge hose is plugged with food or sludge and would need to be cleaned out or 2. When the garbage disposal was installed, the small plug/knock out was not punched out and removed.

The haggle
So we settled on a price, which they don't tell you in the Yelp app that it is $175 hourly rate. After I said, ""no, $175 seems excessive to me"". He asked ""what can you do?"".
Anyway, we settled on a price after he talked to the office I guess.
Beware of companies that do not provide an estimate or their hourly rate up front and offer ""on-site estimates"". I think that is a scam to pressure you into agreeing to their service. My mistake completely.


Job
When he removed the black discharge hose and looked in the garbage disposal, sure enough, the little plug/knock out piece was still intact!
So he removed that and cleaned out the hose as well.


The not so good
After removing the plug, we wanted it all tested of course and ran the dish washer in drain cycle and the water came through the discharge hose and into garbage disposal and into the drain! Worked great!
I press the switch to garbage disposal and a very loud noise was produced as if something was in there. (That was NOT happening right before this service call).
Cody looked inside garbage disposal and didnt see anything and said it is probably the blades in the disposal that need tightening??? I had never heard of that but OK.
He even said that the little knock out was probably still attached but wasn't in the disposal.
He said we would need to contact an appliance repair person to look at that.
So, I guess I do not understand how a service call can fix one issue, creating a new issue and leave it as it was.

Again, Cody himself, was a very nice person, but I believe this was UNCOMPLETED work on Preferred Plumbing and would NOT recommend them to anyone or use them again. I just feel that if you pay someone to do a job, it should be done right and NOT cause another issue that was not happening before.

We ended up doing more research and all advice and YouTube videos indicated that something MUST be in the disposal. So that evening or next, we took our flashlight and looked inside and guess what was in there!!?? Yup, the little knock out plug! We had to use some needle nose pliers to remove it and the disposal purred after that. So, because of an uncompleted job that we paid for, we had to still fix the issue ourselves....

Herman just replaced our water heater and did an amazing job! He was very friendly and efficient and left everything clean and in order when he was done. I would definitely recommend you request Herman if you ever have a water heater need.

Wow! That really describes this company and it's people. New Year's Eve and all sinks,toilets and baths were overflowing. No one could come out till next week so in desperation I called there number in Sacramento knowing they would say too far away. This was at 11.00 a.m. he told me that he could have someone out but would have to call me back,,,, ya checks in the mail. Well he did indeed call me back within minutes and told me he was pulling a man off a job 15 miles away and he'd be right up. I live in the hills. Well 30minutes later. 2 trucks pulled up and was greeted byMatt and Jack and Tadashi. Immediately and professionally jumped into action and in no time flat had it fixed. Super friendly and professional. What a customer wants. Great customer service and a price that was more than competitive.
I will never have to shop yellow pages again. I have found my plumbers.
