Recommended Customer Reviews

I wanted an Electrical Home Safety Inspection. I called Preferred and they scheduled the service right away. John Chrysostom, the electrician, came to our home and conducted the inspection; he was excellent. He found a few issues and corrected them during the visit. I would definitely recommend Preferred Electrical services. Mike R 8/9/2023

I hired Preferred Home Services to replace the old electrical wiring in my house and to replace the 100 amp service with 200 amp service. While the new outlets, switches and breaker box look great, I was surprised to discover that after they said they were done I had no lights in the garage, the outside outlets did not work, the lights in the closets did not work, the door bell did not work and the light on the back porch did no† work. One week after they finished I am still finding bits of copper and wire nuts scattered about my house. I am shocked that a supervisor did not inspect the work before I got home from vacation. The workers were nice but need to clean up after the job is done.

Preffered services is very professional and reliable. We called them after having problems with our AC unit. They sent someone out immediately and evaluated the unit, Josh Newhouse was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained the new system from installation to warranties and the exact unit that would be the most efficient. He estimated the time frame in which the work would be finished. What really amazed me was his personal touch by following up with a text to make sure we were happy and that the new AC was working properly. He definitely went above and beyond our expectations. Highly Recommend! Ron Hill

Preferred Home Services!!!! I have three properties serviced with Preferred for numerous years. The past few years appointments have been rescheduled time and time again. Having to take days off from work this is a huge inconvenience and issue. I had three appointments in two weeks and ONE was kept. The first property I was told couldnt be rescheduled until AUGUST. I am not sure what has happened with service or CUSTOMER SERVICE? This was a great company but now you can't even get service when you scheduled appointments 6 months out. These appointments are TUNEUPS. """"HOW CAN YOU MAKE ME SMILE TODAY?"""" Keep your appointments!!!

I must retract the previous favorable reviews I gave Preferred Home Services. We overpaid for their services for years because it is so hard to find a seemingly reliable company that employs qualified technicians. They may still send out good technicians but how would I know when they don't show up for confirmed, put off and re-confirmed appointments? Back when we could get them to keep their appointment, they 100% of the time urged us to purchase something. Was it needed? Not needed? We tried to keep our then new HVAC in good working order and to honor our long business relationship. They did not.

I had spring/fall HVAC service contract with Charleston Heating and Air and was happy with their service. When Preferred Home Services took over, they made me pay a monthly auto bill against my credit card for the spring/fall service. When technician came out, he said they no longer even change or supply basic air filters for my unit. I had purchased one but he did not or would not change out my filter. He then said my outdoor unit capacitor was bad and it would cost $380 to replace. The technician said it was a 5 minute job. I looked online and the capacitor can be purchased for $8 to $15. The $380 was supposedly discounted $60 because I was a """"preferred"""" customer. I'm firing these guys immediately. Do not trust them. Price gouging is their claim to fame. Oh yeah they also wanted to install a surge suppressor for $408. No wonder they service you with a smile.

this place is a ridiculous scam. they charge you for a quote which no one else does and no one told me in advance. then they try to strong arm you into signing up for the work on the spot. then to cap it all off when I ask them to leave cause the price they quoted is too high, they """"call their boss"""" and offer a quote less than half of the original with no changes to the work. I never got to them doing work but if I did I have no doubts it would cheap and unprofessional.

I would NEVER recommend this company or their services to anyone! We hired them to install an HVAC system in June 2022 and it took them over 12 visits and 3 months to get it slightly close to right. Our upstairs bathroom still does not have adequate heating/cooling. After the first 11 visits (where the technicians bad-mouthed each other and their craftmanship at every turn, and leaving a mess in our house, exposing us and our newborn to multiple strangers) they then caused an ELECTRICAL FIRE at our house, displacing us for 3 days. They pressured us into using them to fix the final problem, promising us safety, working HVAC, and reimbursement, but then bullied us into only partial compensation and no follow up. We discussed going down a legal route and they bullied us further. Their customer service is fair-weathered at best, promising the moon and delivering dirt. They put our newborn in harms way and treated our newly renovated home like a disposable dump. They caused stress, anxiety, harm, and anger in our house and lives. At one point I asked them to rip out the unit so we could use another company and they refused. We have lost days of our lives, hard earned PTO, comfortable nights in our beds, and mostly the peace of mind knowing we are safe in our home. When I tell you they are the worst company we have EVER worked with, I mean it. Do not use them, it will significantly impact your life in the worst way possible.

I had a simple leak in a 3"""" drain line. It was obvious that the problem was the trim carpenter had shot a nail (in this case a screw to secure the 12"""" wood baseboard trim) into the 3"""" drain line. The """"Plumbing Technician"""" looked at everything and immediately went into """"sales mode and """"dumb, stick it to the customer mode"""" saying you can never be sure and to be sure we would need to remove a toilet upstairs and run a camera down the 3"""" drain. That sounded reasonable until he said """" he didn't have the camera and the charge would be $801. He offered the option of joining The PPP Membership Preferred Home Services offered which would reduce it to $722! I then asked a simple question- """"Assuming that it is a simple nail hole in the pipe, what is my potential cost to repair? I even said, can you give me an estimate of what cost would be to cut and put coupling in? He said he couldn't do that but normally, I should expect to pay for the camera inspection $801 and an additional $1500 to $2000 to fix the leak. And then he arrogantly said, I can't do the work because I don't have a camera and that someone would comeback to do the work in the next 1-2 days. Obviously I chose to call another plumber. As expedited, it was a trim screw hole in pipe and a simple repair which cost $700 total. I would not recommend Preferred Home Services as they are not """"Customer Helpful"""", they are overcharging and looking to make excessive profit on homeowners.

I'm not one to write bad reviews but I think people deserve to know how terribly Preferred Home Services tried to rip us off. We were having problems with our AC unit (only 4 years old) and it would blow warm air instead of cool. Their technician, Noah Gilbert, told us our compressor was broken and we would need a whole new HVAC unit. He told us our drip pan was moldy and we were breathing moldy air. He told us it would cost $13,000 up front or $27,000 (twenty-seven THOUSAND dollars) including interest if we made payments over ten years. Naturally, we decided to get a second opinion. Carolina Air Care came out and told us a brand new HVAC unit should cost $5,000 max. That's a quarter of what Preferred Home Services tried to charge us. Also there was nothing wrong with our compressor and the drip pan had some rust and dust but absolutely no mold. Also, Noah added way too much refrigerant to our unit. We just needed some basic maintenance and they only charged us $115. The system is running smoothly now. I don't know if our technician is wildly incompetent or or was trying to rip us off to get commission but I am SO glad we got a second opinion and didn't get suckered into over a decade of debt with PHS. Here's the write-up from Carolina Air Care summarizing everything. What Preferred Home Services tried to pull was absolutely criminal.
