I had the absolute worst experience with the company this weekend. I had 4 guest staying with me over the weekend and as luck would have it my AC went out. I was desperate for a quick repair. I called precision , as I saw decent reviews here. I was connected with Ryan, the service repair guy who claimed they had no further appointments that night. Fine. Ryan showed up in the morning (on time). I tell him that I heard a loud sound from my outdoor unit, and that I thought it was the motor. He quickly removed the side panel and replaced the contact and the start kit. He then spent the rest of the time trying to sell me a new system. Precision H&A charged me over $500 for the contact and start kit , which I looked up later and you can basically get these parts for under $100. He then slapped me with a service agreement/maintenance package for another $150. He did not explain that this was an optional service. I ended up spending $800 for the service. He was there less than an hr. 4 hours later, my unit goes out completely. Long story short, it was the motor. I called Precision, they quoted me another $700 plus another service fee. I had a local neighborhood guy replace the entire motor, and he charged me $400 for parts and labor. He said I probably didn't need the contact/start kit. It was clearly the motor from the get go.


Update : After voicing my concerns with Precision, I got a very quick response from the manager. We had a very productive conversation. He definitely helped to clarify some things. I was able to get a refund for the maintenance package and service fee. I really appreciate they rapid response and effort to make things right. This goes a long way. Thank you Joe for your response and professionalism. As we talked about, I'll be needing a new unit soon and would be happy to consider Precision heating and air!

Walked into my business on Tuesday and the temp was 85deg at 7:30am inside the showroom...
Called PHA in the morning and Adam was there before 10:30: found that the motor for the air handler motor was bad. He gave me an estimate of price and time of having it fixed, I agreed and he went to get the parts. By 1:00pm the system was repaired and the showroom was on its way to being comfortable again!

After moving into a home in the middle of Texas summer and learning the AC was broken, Precision was on top of getting us the help we needed right away. Their customer service was wonderful and they stayed in constant contact with me to make sure I had everything I needed to get the AC working quickly. Their techs were nice, polite and extremely helpful when onsite. They even took my call on a Saturday night when I asked for recommendations on what I should do so my whole unit didn't have permanent damage.

Lost our AC on Saturday night, when the high on Sunday was expected to be 106. After fighting with our home warranty company all day about what they considered an emergency, we called Precision. A technician came out, (I can't remember his name- very tall & super nice ) within 2 hours of us calling him at 6pm on a Sunday & had everything up & running within a hour. We are so grateful for Precision's promptness & professionalism. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

If you want to get ripped off call Precision. I had an entirely new HVAC system installed by them 3 years ago. I believe the cost was about $8,000.
Yesterday the condensate pump went out. I figured out what was wrong and called Precision. Told them the condensate pump went out and could they replace it.
They sent a technician out to my house the next day which was great. He walked in, looked at it, said yep, your condensate pump is out. Took about 10 seconds. That will be $85 for a diagnostic fee. Seriously?
But, this is nothing...keep reading. The diagnostic fee can be applied to my repairs so it's not a big deal. Unless of course they completely overcharge you to do the repair!
Next, the technician says they have to order a condensate pump for me. So, why didn't you bring one when I specifically said that is what I need replaced? Not sure... Just doing his job.
Now for the real kick in the pants...It will be $630 to replace your condensate pump. The condensate pump can be bought online for about $50. There are also online guides that say it will take about 10-15 minutes to do the repair.
So, $630 to install a new pump that costs $50 and should be done in 10 minutes.
Still gets better...when I ask if it's covered by a warranty since Precision installed my new HVAC system only 3 years ago, the technician says, it doesn't look like they replaced the condensate pump when they installed your new system.
So, I bought an entirely new HVAC system and they couldn't replace a $50 condensate pump that is attached to it and necessary to make the system run???
This is exactly the type of company you don't want to work with. I'm in real estate and I've been referring clients to them for the past few years. My apologies to anyone I referred to them.

Since many of our neighborhood's homes were built fairly recently in volume, A/C failures of a particular flavor are common, usually in the first 5 years or so with our builder-grade equipment. In our neighborhood it's capacitor failure. The symptoms are that the fan comes on but there's no cool air.

This was the case when Precision came out today. The technician took about 5-10 minutes to make the diagnosis and only slightly longer to do the repair. He even had a sheet showing the cost, so no "estimate" was necessary. Parts were on the truck, so there was no delay getting the repair done.

We were fortunate that we'd registered our A/C unit when the house was completed in 2013, as the part was under warranty. Precision removed its cost from the bill, so we only paid for labor. Still, I had a bit of sticker shock: the cost wasn't cheap given the amount of time the tech spent here.

On an extremely positive note, we were pleased to have called for repair first thing in the morning and to have a technician out by 9 am. The technician was polite and professional, and did some system checks above and beyond the diagnostic. The tech gets 5 stars, the company 3-4.

I was very appreciative of them coming on July 4th. They were quick and professional. That said, it was more than twice the cost of the last time we had this issue. 15 minutes to replace a $50? capacitor for compressor and charge $773 seemed extreme.

When your AC goes out in Texas, your whole world goes upside down. Roy N. from Precision saved the day with a quick and accurate diagnosis. It was my AC's contactor. He saved me a bunch of extra money because my wife and I were going to board our animals and get a hotel room. Fortunately, didn't have to. Thanks Roy N.

My indoor AC unit was overflowing with water, dirty evaporator coils, and multiple moisture issues (but still running okay). I called Precision at after hours and immediately received a call back from the on-call technician Roy. He walked me through the potential issues, general pricing, and suggested I call back in the morning to save a few $$. The office called me first thing in the morning to set-up an appointment for that morning. The technician showed up on time and was the same gentlemen I spoke to the night before. He quickly figured out the issues and laid out a few options. I found him courteous and knowledgeable. I would recommend Precision and signed up for their maintanance plan.

Ryan was fantastic. He diagnosed the issues with my air conditioning expediantly and accurately. He provided great service and expertise. He supplied life expectancy of my unit if problems were not fixed as well as if they were fixed. Fantastic company to work with and fantastic AC technician in Ryan.
