TLDR:
I started with two old, but functioning perfectly tankless water heaters. (Which, to be fair, could have stopped functioning at any moment without warning.)
This company talked me into descaling both units.
By the time the service man (company owner) left, one unit was non-functional and the other was likely to become so soon and without warning.
This company took no responsibility for the errors in their recommendation, nor did they offer any real discount in remedying the situation.

Things started out great.
This company was very professional and quick in assisting us with a skunky drain. During the course of that work, it came up that our tankless water heaters (we have 2, both are 14 years old) are supposed to get regular maintenance. I revealed that they had had no maintenance in the 2 years we owned the house and I had very little confidence that the previous owners had done regular maintenance. I was gently chastised several times for this oversight and the process was explained to me. We ended up scheduling maintenance for both machines.
The owner of the company arrived on time to the second appointment. He wore a mask during the limited time that he had to be in the house. He asked me if the units had been maintenanced and I again, stated that it had not be done in the 2 years I lived here. Again, I was gently chastised. He requested a bucket, as apparently he had not brought one with him, and got started.
That's where things took a turn.
After servicing the first unit, he tells me that we have a problem. There is a leak, which means we must either replace parts or replace the whole unit. He reports that he has just been on the phone with the manufacturer and they told him that the descaling process is contra-indicated for these units in cases where they have not been regularly maintenanced because it can cause leaks.
He then tells me that he is discontinuing the descaling process on the second unit because the cleaning solution can "no longer flow through the tubing." This is the same tubing the water must flow through for the unit to function. When I test it, water runs through. When I express concern that the blocked cleaning solution is indicative of a problem that will cause the unit to stop working, he says "yeah" and shrugs.
When I ask him how we're going to fix this problem, he offers to replace the units, but makes it clear that he will charge the full price (he says he's doing it "at cost" but he's charging the same amount it would cost me to go buy it at the store, so ...) for each unit (~$1300) PLUS his regular labor costs ($95/hr) to do so.
During the course of our discussion, he at no point apologizes for his mistake. He makes the excuse that he didn't know that these machines hadn't been properly maintenanced (he DID know), and he makes the excuse that he didn't know descaling was not recommended in our particular situation (it's LITERALLY his job to know). Instead of saying "I'm sorry for making a mistake" he said "I'm sorry you're upset."
He did not charge us for this visit - approx 2 hrs and a couple bottles of descaling solution. We are having a different company replace both units.
I understand that mistakes happen and best practices change. However, it is unacceptable that his learning experience became my $2300+ expense. I will not hire this company again and I cannot recommend it to anyone else.

I called Precise Plumbing because I found mold and a damp spot under the edge of my cabinet in the half bath. James looked at the half bath, and then he looked at the pipes accessible through venting under the water heater. He determined the source of the leak within 15 minutes of his arrival. He informed me that the leak was in the manifold, and he could either cut a hole through the half bath cabinet or I could have the cabinet removed. Since I was concerned about the mold, I opted to have the cabinet removed. I scheduled the cabinet removal with a contractor. James informed me that the leak was extremely slow, and that he would return to repair the leak in the manifold once the cabinet was removed. I contacted James once the cabinet was removed, and he worked me into his schedule for the next day. He did the repair which involved cutting and reconfiguring copper pipes and soldering them. James does excellent work. He is both professional and personable. I will be calling Precise Plumbing for all of my future plumbing concerns.

We had this company come out to check for a leaky shower pan. They came, they did a 15 min test and stated they saw no leak. Their advise was to caulk the bottom of the shower more. After they left and handed us the bill of 160 bucks for 15 min work I went into double check. I now had water comming up from my floor. The small leak I had now is a bathroom remodel. Good side note they told us after they dont fix shower pans. So why do the test? Be ware, this company will take your money and leave you with more issues then you started with.

WOW! We had water gushing from the outside of the house and had to have the city turn off the water. The first two companies we called couldn't help but told us to call Precise Plumbing. They were out in a couple of hours and fixed the problem fast and did great work without leaving us broke. They saved our Thanksgiving!!! Thank you so much!

I will recommend this company to anyone in need of plumbing services or repairs. James was very courteous, professionally confident, and precise. He was on time and clean everything up right after he was done. Price is moderate compared to other companies with the amount of work. No shoddy work either.
