I have been going back and forth with this damn unethical company for weeks about how they are trying to overcharge me. They are a complete rip off and should be avoided at all costs! They get a lot of business from the HOA in my building and try to stick homeowners with the bill rather than bill the HOA for time they should be billed for. I'm shocked anyone gave this company more than 1 star!

We contracted LB Powers Plumbing to handle all of the plumbing work for the remodel of our home. We could not have been happier. When you hire LB Powers you don't hire a company you hire a family. From Janet at the desk to Shane as the supervisor and Robert doing the work there is no one in town who can do a better job.
Ours was an extensive remodel which required a lot of scheduled and unscheduled time on site. Robert was always on time when scheduled but more importantly he respond quickly when the unexpected occurred, very common on projects such as ours. He saved countless days of delays due to his rapid response.
There isn't one member of the LB Powers Plumbing Company we have come in contact with we wouldn't have in our home for dinner.
The quality of the work? Unsurpassed! Simply put, you can't find a better plumbing company in San Diego. They are the best, period!

I'm not a big Yelper. This was my first and only review of any business on any site. Since this review, a number of you have reached out to me (thank you!) including Janet O. of Powers Plumbing.
However, the issue is still not resolved. The company has not taken responsibility for their broken equipment and poor workmanship, nor did they apologize for their appalling customer service. I do appreciate them finally getting in touch and taking this seriously -- just a shame that it required a BBB complaint and poor Yelp/social media reviews.
Janet O's public response here contained a number of inaccuracies, including complete different interpretations of the same events. I suspect the only way to resolve this matter will be some form of legal action.
Since this is a review site, I'll just summarize my experience with the company here and note the company's response so far. You decide if this is a company you want to work with.
- PP arrived nearly 3 hours late. (not disputed)
- PP's drain cleaning cable system had a broken clutch, preventing it from applying torque, especially in the reverse direction (not disputed)
- PP's equipment got stuck on root intrusions in my sewer line (not disputed), and was unable to free itself due to the broken clutch. (disputed -- PP claims the broken clutch is not responsible)
- PP left the stuck equipment in my *open sewer line* for over 5 days without any contact or explanation (not disputed)
- PP shattered my sewer line to free their stuck equipment (not disputed)
- I ended up hiring another more capable plumbing company (absolute plumbing) to replace the broken sewer line at a cost of nearly $1,000. (not disputed)
- PP did not answer emails (disputed -- PP claimed to never received my emails, that email was ""not an effective form of communication"" ... in an email)
- PP did not respond following an office visit -- I spent over 30 minutes talking about the matter with PP employee Bob (who was very knowledgable and understanding) but received no follow-up response.
See my original post for a more detailed (and more snarky) description.

Revised Posting:
Powers Plumbing came through in a big way to fix the mishap due to our hot water heater install, all is well now. The owners and lead representatives worked after hours to sincerely remedy the problems caused by their employee's poor decisions. We believe their efforts are quite good and their intentions as well.
We encourage customers to be present during any and all work on their home/property, regardless of trade or specific contractors. This would have made everyone's experience far more enjoyable.

Bad Experience...recovery pending
Hot water heater replacement was scheduled, 3 days later the first of (3) plumbers arrived at our building to execute the work. Good start...not so much. Old water heater was disconnected and drained, yet existing water pipes were left to leak onto the floor. Thankfully, after returning from work at 6pm, we checked the progress and found running water flooding the laundry room. We spent much of our evening cleaning the mess, and frantically calling the emergency contact person. After another hour, their senior plumber showed up to handle damage control.
Emergency repairs were coordinated promptly by their supervisor, and repairs were made to reinstall the new water heater. As of this posting, water damage mitigation has begun, and we have hot water now on the third day.
I'll update this as progress develops.

Showed up right on time and was best bid for placing in a thermostatic valve in my shower. It was service as promised and this is the second time that I needed a plumber so you should consider them. By the way Bill Howe Plumbing bid $1450 for the same job that they did for $345!

My experience with L.B. POWERS & SON PLUMBING CO. was extremely disappointing. Their plumber was EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL, and took a really long time to fix the problem (I guess they do work on an hourly basis! I literally saw him fiddle around with a few pieces for a whole hour!). He fixed the problem only partially and when I called him back to fix a leak on the same installation, he told me he installed it correctly and the leak was my fault!!! They charged me for the second visit even though their website claims that they take care of any installation problem within the first year.
Save yourself a lot of headache and money. Call someone else, please!

Powers Plumbing provided dedicated service to fixing one of the showers in my home (it wouldn't turn on). When it looked like the job was going to be more difficult than expected, the plumber, Larry, kept me informed (of course, I was looking over his shoulder, curious as to what he was doing) but he kept at it, working hard not to have to make a more complicated repair! My shower is working now and I'm very pleased with the work that was provided!

Terrific service by very pleasant and competent professionals. All of us cringe when we get plumbing issues, but Janet and her team can put a smile back on your face. We've been using Powers for years for our historic home. Most recently, toilet went out the night before company was to arrive. By noon the next day, Bill had visited and fixed it (plus a second toilet that was iffy).

Powers has saved us more times than I can count. When you have a plumbing issue you want it fixed asap and right the first time! They work fast , but carefully and that is most important to us with our historic home. Their extensive community work also speaks volumes to the kind of company they are. 5 stars to Powers Plumbing.

My house has really bad plumbing and I have to rely on a good plumber every couple of months. Thus, I have tried many. But, I am now staying with this particular Guy.
