Recommended Customer Reviews

On my way to work I watched a PMC company truck blow two red lights, two crosswalks with people waiting, and fly down MLK going 40-45. If their work demonstrates the same care and respect for the law as their driving, I wouldn't touch these guys if they were the last contractor in town.

Never in my life have I encountered such rudeness. Today I witnessed two employees berate a gas attendant for the pump running slow. It was not the poor teenagers fault. If this is how the employees treat ""the help."" I can only imagine the low quality service they would provide to me a customer.

Horrible customer service. I dealt with them twice and both times the experience was negative and it made them look a bit sleazy.

Watch out! They will charge you for their Driving Time no matter what time your appointment is scheduled. My appointment was at 8AM. They sent 2 mechanics and charged me one hour each just for their time to drive to my shop. Whoever has an employer pay for your driving time to get to work, please raise your hand... NONE, I bet!
So, two guys at $85/hour after they already billed me $60 for their ""Vehicle and Fuel"" charge: I'm $230 down before the job even started! They worked from 8-9:25AM and told me the total work time was 5.5 hours, does this add up to you?
Then, they offered to take the old window air conditioning unit with them...but did not explain to me that they were actually going to charge even more for that. I thought it was a courtesy of the company, but Nope. It was on my dime... We have a huge dumpster behind our building, which I was planning to use anyway (if only I had known).
The 2 mechanics they sent were good, but I do NOT like how this company treated me. I honestly do not feel they were forthright or fair with me... It makes me wonder if this treatment had to do with me being a Female Minority Small Business Owner. If they talk fast enough, I might not understand what they are up to. Just an FYI to everyone, beware before using this company.

Hot water heater blew on a Thursday. No one local to town was available to help at all. I called George Morelan and did not feel confident that I would get immediate help. I finally was referred to Portland Mechanical and I am so very appreciative for their wonderful customer service. I am sorry if her name is not Sabrina - but the woman who answered and heard my stress, was most helpful and managed to send a tech early enough to avoid overtime charges. Tim Wingo the technician, promised to make it all better and I could not be happier. He had a tough job getting it out of a closet while behind a holding tank and pressed against a furnace. Good grief what a job, but he completed it with good humor and helpful upgrades to the shut off controls. Perfect! I will definitely ask for him next time. I have never done a review - but after seeing how difficult it is to get plumbing assistance this deserves mention.

Their billing practices are somewhat questionable and their service is mediocre. They have one very good boiler tech who can fix things efficiently. However, when the others come out, there usually ends up being two of them to do one person's work and we get billed accordingly. I finally quit using them.

They came out to my loft in Gregory to fix my air conditioning and failed to do so despite paying well over $400. They required me to pay for another service call to see what they missed so I had to hire another company to look at the problem.

Poorly skilled technician and worst customer service. When I inquired about Nest thermostat installation, they said they have technicians that have experiences with Nest thermostat. The first technician flat out said he never worked on Nest thermostat. Reading a manual, he installed it. It stopped working 2 hours after he left. They sent another technician, and he also said he has no experience with Nest thermostat. He could not get it to work. The business development manager told that he wants to make it right, and if he had to come out and install it himself, he would do it. Never happened. I called to follow up and left a voice message. Never called me back. They send me a bill for the 1st installation claiming they deserve the charge because it was working for 2 hours. WOW. They take money from customers for poor quality work. They take no pride in their work nor business.

These guys saved the day and we're honest and helpful. The cold snap froze our hot water pipes. They came quickly and insulated the pipes. Well, that wasn't enough we found out because the next day the pipes froze again. PMC sent another technician (Eric who is awesome) who smartly proposed the correct and final solution to put heat tape on the pipe. I was concerned that PMC would charge me for 2 visits but they didn't. Nick the manager proposed a reasonable billing solution. Thank you Ben, Eric and Nick for your efforts!

No stars, if allowed, but unfortunately, to post the review, I have to give them an undeserved star. They sent out someone who couldn't diagnose our problem, and he stayed about twenty minutes. They billed us for a truck charge ($60) and an hour and a quarter technician time, parking (he could have parked in the loading zone), and said our unit was incorrectly installed. The technician also said that the PMC plumbing team would follow up. No follow up. Turns out, after hiring another company, because of the aforementioned lack of follow up, our condensation pump was bad and indeed the unit had been installed correctly. The pump was quickly replaced and all was fixed to our satisfaction BY ANOTHER COMPANY. And still, they billed us on our credit card also telling us today, that they were sending another bill for another $12 or so because they didn't bill us enough in the first place. Very disappointed with the lack of service and professionalism displayed by this company.
