The tech was great, but it wasn't explained that they have a flat fee for services. I was told over the phone that a service call was $29. Should have known there was a catch. I would not have even had him come out had I known there was a $350 fee to install a faucet I provide. I got my work done, but won't use them again.
This is not a slam, these are the facts and take them as you will. So my water tank blew yesterday, big time. I went to Angies List and Pompeii was on it, fairly good reviews there and it was close to home so I figured give them a call. First off, the answering service, whether local or not was abrupt to say the least. I explained that I had no idea how this worked re: service calls, charges, etc. and she cut me off and said someone would call me. OK, great. Mike, an installer, called me back within 10 minutes which was great. I explained the situation, and asked for the big picture, approximately how much $ I was looking at. He told me he couldn't give a number as he didn't have the book in front of him, he was driving with his kids, but somewhere around $1400.00 was his good guess. I told him I was looking at Lowe's website and that the water tank I needed was $359.00, so I asked him why so costly. He told me that they only have A.O. Smith product, 6 year warranty. That's exactly what I was looking at on the Lowe's website as we were talking, and I told him so. I asked him why Pompeii would be charging from $700 - $1000 for install and he said that A.O. Smith provides to Pompeii a better quality of product than the to the big box stores. I've contacted A.O. Smith to see if that's true. I would not recommend Pompeii for any work. Lowe's is installing Monday for a total of $772.00 - approximately half of what Pompeii quoted on high end, $400.00 less than what Pompeii quoted on low end. Again, this is not meant to be a slam, rather an honest review.
Do not use Pompeii plumbing. The only reason I gave them one star is because that was the lowest choice I could make.
In April 2018, I purchased a Kohler toilet for my mother. I live out of state and had the toilet delivered to her. I set up an appointment with Pompeii plumbing to have them install the toilet. They charged my 75-year-old mother $725 to put a new toilet in her bathroom. Clearly they were taking advantage of my senior mother.
It was only after several phone calls that the charges were reversed.
The tech was great!!!!! so for him, I would like to have given 5 stars BUT the price Pompeii gave for replacing our heater and AC unit too was over 15K... They did service what we called them out for and we were educated on how the 20.00 filters for the furnace are all but a waste of money and destroys your furnace...never knew that but the price alone to replace and get new was outrageous. No one really bothered to call from the office and see if we wanted to proceed or if we wanted to take a different option. Not much in the way of follow up...so I took that as well they really didn't care too much on my sale. Good Luck.
My bathroom was all plugged up -- toilet, bath, sink -- to main line, which was still clear. To their credit, Pompeii's came on a Saturday and attempted to clear it. No luck. Snake could not make enough turns. They would have run a camera from the street, but couldn't find the clean out in the front yard. On Monday, the city (BV) came out and identified where the clean out was. Pompeii's returned and put a camera in from the front yard, but could not determine anything. They concluded that the pipe was broken under the basement floor and the next step was to break up the concrete basement floor and do a repair. I called Killeen's in Westlake who explained why Pompeii's snake got stuck and proposed a simpler solution. Cut the pipe ABOVE the basement floor, snake from there and install a clean out for future use. Brilliant! Clean and running free now! My biggest problem with Pompeii's was the negative attitude on their tech's part (Dave) and their outdated camera equipment. Dave kept telling me why he wasn't being successful, not suggesting ways to clear my stoppage. For the record, the blockage was NOT where Pompeii's thought it was, so breaking up the floor would not have been done at the right spot! Killeens had newer, better equipment that worked!
Jen D.We came home from work tonight and found the ceiling in our finished basement holding water. The answering service was quick to get us a call back and they came about ten minutes after. I am more than impressed with these guys. They provided a great service and took the time show us a few things along the way. Friendly, experienced, and efficient. They were very upfront and accurate on the costs.
Rita C.After researching many plumbers for my sump pump I decided Pompeii's was the best for my needs. They followed up with lots of information to help me make a decision and get my sale. Where they failed is in the way of service once I gave them the business. This, in my opinion is the larger measure of a good company. One that is there when things don't go so well...not one that over delivers during the sale.
On March 15 my basement suffered water damage as a result of a poorly secured gasket during their install. The tech apparently didn't secure the gasket tight enough and water began to shoot out all over the dry wall, carpeting and door. Thankfully we were home to minimize the damage. While someone did come out from Pompeii to secure it, I got ZERO follow-up from management. No phone call or even letter of apology. No one acknowledged my damaged and warped door or my soggy carpeting or my soiled dry wall. I didn't expect much, though some communication from management would have been nice. Particularly since I was told I'd hear back in a couple of days. They simply swept my situation under the rug and ignored it. Mistakes happen! I understand that! Though when they do a good company addresses them.
I had new granite tops installed and therefore contacted Pompeii's Plumbing due to their
good rating on Angies List. I had purchased a new fauce. The Faucet, along with the
existing garbage disposal were to be installed. Also, I purchased all gaskets etc.
After looking over the work, the plumber went to his truck and came back and was
quoted a price of $725. I thought this was high, but instructed him to install.
After about a 1/2 hr I heard Oh! Oh!. I asked
what was wrong. I have to cut your pipe and cut a new hole in your cabinets.
I ask why and he indicated because the sink sat lower.
(Please note from the original sink about an
inch lower.) I asked there is no other way. He said no.
So he tore thru the wall and spent another 45 min. moving the pipe.
This is the best part, he charged another $222., but indicated he would mark it
differently(pipe cleaning) to save me money. As I was writing the check he stopped
me and said that before I sign the check, he would give me a
30% discount if I sign up for their Plan. Wow! really?, that works out to be close to
$222.
I believe I was totally ripped off by this Company. I would not recommend them to anyone.
