TLDR: The only plumber you need to call, period.

Detail: This review is long overdue! In the fall of 2023, we finally decided to replace a 25+ year old atmospheric vent water heater in our 1958 home in Bloomington. We are planning some basement renovations, and in order to accommodate what we wanted to do we needed to move the water heater about 6' on a diagonal from its then-current location. I did my usually due diligence trying to find the best of the best contractors (Better Business Bureau, Consumer's Checkbook, Google, Yelp, etc. reviews) and settled on 4 contractors to get estimates from. We were trying to decide between a power vent and an electric (couldn't replace it with another atmospheric vent due to exhaust considerations), so we needed estimates for both types. To make a very long story short, which included some weird up-selling attempts and one guy shaking my basement pipes and 'wondering how much longer they'd last'), I had all my contractor contact and estimates; it wasn't even a close decision. From the start, Lance was responsive, understood the nature of the project, did not try to sell us anything we didn't need, and his price was by far lowest of all estimates, one by almost 100%. When I told him we were hoping to get it in before the end of 2023, he graciously made sure he got us in before he took some time off. On the day of the job, he and an assistant showed up on time, were respectful of property, were quick with the installation and left the place cleaner than they found it. Since then, we've been enjoying worry-free hot water (we went with a 50-gallon electric) and are very pleased we went with Lance/Polar Plumbing. While I encourage everyone to do their own due diligence and get estimates, I for one can say 'honest work at an honest price,' and to me that says a lot these days. Lance will always be our 'first call' plumber from here on out.
