Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is the latest iteration of the plumbing and cooling firm created by John Verhoff after settling to Southwest Florida in 2007 AD. At first, he focused on building projects. However, after navigating the recession, he came to see that contractor work didn't provide flexibility over his operations as he wanted.
Come 2012, Verhoff redirected his direction to home service exclusively, to start partnering with a friend on a venture that had offices in Florida and two other states. After he bought out his associate on the Florida part of the company in the year 2016, he needed a new brand and image. That's how Plumbing & Cooling Nerds was born.
Plumbing & Cooling Nerds takes pride on delivering “innovative home services” that are “provided with enthusiasm and expertise.”
Hello, I'm John, the founder and Head Nerd of Plumbing Nerds. I've been passionate to serving homeowners since I was in high school, and I'm devoted on delivering the top standard of assistance to my customers.
When founding this company in 2007, I saw a gap for a better focus on customer service to plumbing services. We're motivated by our goal to “transform perceptions of skilled trades,” which means delivering tech-savvy and efficient solutions to routine plumbing challenges. We also teach homeowners about their plumbing and HVAC systems and offer choices that meet their needs.
Thank you for thinking of our services for your home needs. I look forward to we can change the way you perceive a trade professional.

Recommended Customer Reviews

I will say at the beginning I was very impressed with the professional response I received. they were very good at coming out quickly and then it all went down hill. my impression was they were there to sell me whatever service they could think up. then the prices quoted were so high I basically said they could leave as it was ridiculous. to clean out a main drain $4000 when the common charge is closer to $450-550. camera service for the toile was over $1000 when it is normally $525. they wasted their time and mine!!!!

Where do I begin. The people from Plumbing Nerds have been at my home a few times. They put in a new water filter for my home years ago. As time goes on I had them come for various things. Due to random black in my water, Plumbing Nerds insisted that I had to have my whole house repiped. I have since learned they were wrong. The issue was a defective water pressure tank, leaking black randomly throughout the house and water filters Again, no overhaul needed to the pipes- omitting a costly $8,000.00 dollar job that wasn't necessary. But my worst experience was when they came for two reasons; one to inspect a hot water tank to determine it was properly installed for a new insurance company. Plumbing Nerds put the cost of this at $895.00 just to make that determination. I ended up paying nothing. I also wanted to replace a valve in my shower. The concern I had was that I didn't want to damage the dated tile in the bathroom. For this task they wanted $1,400.00 and couldn't guarantee they wouldn't damage the tile. When a friend called during their visit, he insisted that I not use them due to the excessive pricing. I eventually had a decent plumber come through. Not only did he charge me only $415.00, he replaced the valve by going through the wall from another room. What a concept...

Plumbing Nerds installed a 30 gallon hot water heater on a Friday. The following Monday I called about a minor concern with the drain in the pan. They offered to send someone over that day or whichever day was convenient for me. I asked for the following day and two technicians were at my door that morning. They corrected the issue quickly and professionally and made sure I was 100% satisfied before departing. Excellent customer service and support after the """"sale"""" is the hallmark of a solid and trustworthy business. I highly recommend Plumbing Nerds.

Terrible experience. i made an appointment five days in advance of today, i explicitly explained what we needed done, repair to an ice maker. I was told this could be done. I was then contacted and told they could not make the appointment after our tenants has waited five hours to have someone show up today. When i told them we needed them to come today, i was then told they really do not repair ice makers. So, either the rep i spoke to today is lying to me about service or the intake person did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I had a high water bill and call the Plumbing Nerds. It was a bad flapper in one toilet. It was recommended that I replace both toilets for about $1500, or just the insides or just the flappers. Replacing the two flappers was $306. I said that it was too expensive. He told me that he is a certified, licensed plumber and is worth this fee. I bought two flappers online for $20 and replaced them in about 15 minutes. I bought two flappers online for $20 and replaced them in about 15 minutes.

If you're way too lazy to shop around and are OK with paying five times more than what you should pay for any given job, and if you're OK with being constantly upsold, then go ahead and give these guys a call. Or you can just call almost literally anyone else and save 80% from what these people will charge you. Definitely do not recommend.

Invoice #150262412 I was lied to. Your technician said my garbage disposal didnt work and was uninstalled by me and i just needed him to install a new one (provided by me). Also said he provided a platinum option. Reality: In trying toing to fix my clogged disposal with the s-tool I inadvertently disengaged it. I asked the tech to fix it my current disposal. He didnt even try that option and insisted that I had to replace it with a new disposal that I had purchased at home depot only as backup. And by the way what are the options that he did not inform me of? Platinum? Bronze? Silver??????? No options were explained....tell me now. I need to know. What options?? You have choices. I can get back to my Neighborhood website which had good reviews for you (and is why i chose you) and contact everybody to post updated negative reviews. And I can go to your website and post the same. I can contact my bank and dispute the charges. Or you can take ownership of your actions and respond accordingly. (Meaning explanation of options, reimbursement of reasonable charges, etc,) PS the only reason I gave your tech 5 stars was because he refused to leave my home unless i did so. I was under extreme pressure to give his review and I just wanted him to leave. This after he did his presentation regarding the water heater and the water samples. just leave.

WE needed a plumber and I asked around. Someone said Plumbing Nerds. Then I heard and ad for them on the radio. Very professional. After answering some questions about the problem, the customer service asked if I wanted the tech to wear a mask. Then said they would call about 1/2 hour before arriving. They did. They also sent an email with a picture of the tech who would be coming. The tech was wonderful. Explained everything he was doing. Showed me the work he was doing, took pictures of it all. When they emailed the receipt, they included the pictures of before and after the repair. Left everything very clean and neat.

Do not use if you are planning to make an insurance claim! My water heater was damaged after Hurricane Ian. I called the Plumbing Nerds to replace it on a Friday (having used them successfully before) and they came out on Saturday to take a look. They gave me a quote which was expensive but, I assumed, reasonable, given the size/type of water heater (80Gal Rheem Professional), the work involved (new stand, new WH, updated piping, hauling away old WH and stand, etc) and the post-Hurricane Ian supply and demand issues. They were able to replace it on the Monday. So far so good. I subsequently submitted the Plumbing Nerds invoice to my insurance company for reimbursement and they pushed back, asking for a breakdown of materials and labor. Fine, I thought. I called Plumbing Nerds to ask for this. I was told that they would escalate to management and call me back. Nothing. I called again...same thing. And again...same thing. I have called now 5 or 6 times and can only speak to the call center people. No one has called me back and no detailed invoice has been produced. The only thing I can assume is that the price was so exorbitant they are unable to produce an invoice. Now I am stuck with a $5K+ invoice which insurance won't cover. It's unfortunate because prior to this I was happy with the Plumbing Nerds but I can no longer recommend them, at least not if you are planning on requesting a reimbursement from your insurance company

If I could give them zero stars I would. First, I made an appointment a WEEK in advance to hook up a sink and faucet, for 10 am. They did not show but did call and say they would be here in the afternoon. Then they called and said they would be here after 5 pm. Then they called after 7 pm and said they weren't coming. They only came the next day because I lost my temper with them.. It was supposed to be a simple job, new sink, new faucet. My wife calls me and says the technician tells her it may cost $1200. He finally says its ONLY $800. Sales ploy?? The tech was apparently a """"nice guy"""" so I will give him credit for that. When the Nerds called asking if I was satisfied, of course I told them I wasn't. I was told by the person who that she would check with the boss to look into the pricing, and she would get back to me. its been a month, I am still waiting. Needless to say, it is time to find a new plumber.
