On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Initially, the business had four staff members, including Glad and Sid, and specialized in counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This partnership significantly enhanced PDI's reputation. With the American Standard line, we proved our competitiveness in the plumbing market. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, the necessity for a larger facility became clear. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
