The company was created on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business started with four employees, including Glad and Sid, focusing on counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This partnership significantly enhanced PDI's reputation. With the American Standard line, we proved our competitiveness in the plumbing market. It also enabled PDI to acquire other prominent plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, the necessity for a larger facility became clear. Our goal was to keep our presence near our original location in Lawrenceville. We obtained a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to relocate.
