The company was launched on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business started with four employees, including Glad and Sid, focusing on counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This partnership significantly enhanced PDI's reputation. This line helped us demonstrate our strength in the plumbing industry. This success led to securing additional major plumbing brands like A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, we recognized the need for a larger space. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. We obtained a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
