On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc. at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Four team members, including Glad and Sid, operated the small business, which focused on counter sales and delivery.

PDI secured its status as a distributor for American Standard on February 13, 1976. This marked a pivotal moment for PDI. The addition of American Standard products helped us prove our strength in the plumbing industry. This success paved the way for us to partner with other leading plumbing brands, such as A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. Our goal was to keep our operations near our original location in Lawrenceville. A piece of land was purchased in an emerging industrial park near Collins Hill Road, allowing for easy access to Georgia Highway 316. Between 1984 and 2006, our Corporate Headquarters were located at 20 Collins Hill Road, but we had to move again to support our expansion.
