The company was launched on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Glad and Sid, along with two other employees, managed the small operation that provided counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This marked a pivotal moment for PDI. With the American Standard line, we demonstrated our competitiveness in the plumbing market. This success enabled PDI to acquire other prominent plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and later Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI expanded, it became clear that a larger facility was necessary. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. A piece of land was purchased in an emerging industrial park near Collins Hill Road, allowing for easy access to Georgia Highway 316. Between 1984 and 2006, our Corporate Headquarters were located at 20 Collins Hill Road, but we had to move again to support our expansion.
