Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is the evolution of the plumbing and air conditioning firm established by John Verhoff after his move to Southwest Florida in 2007. At first, he concentrated on new construction jobs. Yet, following the 2008-2009 recession, he realized that contractor work restricted his business autonomy. In 2012, Verhoff redirected his efforts to home services, initially collaborating with a friend on a company with locations in Florida and two other states. When he acquired his friend's share of the Florida operations in 2016, he sought a new name and identity. That's when Plumbing & Cooling Nerds came to life. Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is dedicated to delivering “smarter home solutions” with “nerd-like enthusiasm.”

Two stars because for now the problem is solved. Tried to sell us a$1500 toilet when all we needed was a tank replacement. Have asked around on what it should have cost, and they overcharged by at LEAST $200 for the simple repair they did. I was listening through a closed door and heard the guy try to oversell to my Mom, who is elderly. Guy looked shocked when I walked out. Guess he realized I knew he was trying to take advantage.....totally uncool and do not recommend. Thankfully we now have the names and numbers of other plumbers, for future use

I got an appointment for a Monday. They kept calling me saying I had an appointment and that they would let me know when they'd be on their way. They never showed. I could have called another plumbing company instead of waiting all day for a no show. very disappointed.

While this company was quite responsive and did the work quickly, they charged over $1150 dollars to replace 2 Moen faucets. These can be bought for a $175 apiece. That means to install the 2 faucets it took two hours and was over $800. The price I saw first was for $600 installed. I thought that was reasonable. Unfortunately, once the job was done I was informed that was for one faucet. Please be aware that these plumbing prices are outrageous.

4120 USD for 4.5 hours work: On a Friday morning I found my toilets and showers no longer working at all, so I looked for a plumber. For heaven's sake I found these guys, coming to my place just two hours later. They told me that I had clogged piped and they need to clean them, using a camera as well. The price was high but with the weekend coming up, I was in distress and needed the job to be done right away. The guy that was here told me he never did that job by himself, so he needs to call a colleague. So the two men did the job within 4.5 hours, using they machines. And to be fair, they did a good job, everything worked fine by then. In the end they told me they will not guarantee the work as the pipes of my house are wrong and there would be a complete repiping necessary tearing off the grounds. So, next day I told my neighbors and they were in shock about the price. By then I started investigating in the internet and asked for an estimate at two other companies - just to find out that I was ripped off. So I contacted the company to ask if they are sure about that pricing? First they did not react, but after me writing again and again, they finally came back to me (just after I wrote to them that they postal letters thanking me to be such a happy customer does not really show what I am). They confirmed the price as the work was done properly and they do not charge by the hours but for the job. Telling me that if they would have needed 2 days, the price would still have been the same and it is that high because of their high expertise. Well, they helped me when I needed help. But in my review I'd like to warn everybody to get an estimate first and take enough time to check it and shop around, as I paid 1000 USD per manhour, which is definitely insane. Oh, and asking the builder of the house which is not that old, I got confirmed that my pipes are exactly the way they should be - so no ripping me off there again.

Thanks to Jeff Eger we had a very positive experience this morning. We called early with a toilet problem and received quick service. Plumber came within 30 minutes. He was polite, professional and gave us options. We decided on a new toilet which they had in stock. He installed it and was done quickly. He wore booties and left our bathroom spotless. Great job.

Missed diagnosed the problem and tried to sell me $6,500 of stuff I don't need. Called another plumber. Everything fixed for $298. Clearly, these guys are commission based. Be careful.

I called them for a quote when my regular plumber quoted me what I thought was a high price to replace a leaking kitchen faucet. The woman said they would have to send someone out to give me a quote. When I asked if there was a charge she said yes $85. When I questioned that she rescinded it. Then started to question my water heater. Said not interested. Just quote the faucet. Sent guy out next day. He tried to sell me a turn off valve . When he finally quoted the price he was over $200 ,higher than my regular guy. $560 to replace a faucet not including price of faucet. These people are well organized buta rip off for sure.

Just had them over to replace outside spigot? 461.00 price, lol, unbelievable scam company, stay away from this outfit; just looking to rip you off

They quoted me for a job and continued to state that they could do it(water heater installment in a closet) but couldn't do it in the manner that I had originally asked for and in which they came twice to verify they could do. First visit I payed for the evaluation. At least they returned my money(not for the visit, I forgot to ask for that to be applied and they forgot as well)after I called a few times. I write this with the hope in the future they aren't so quick to make promises and not be able to deliver. My requests from the beginning couldn't have been any clearer and concise in emails, texts, on the phone and in person. The reason I hired them for another job, that over charge for, was because they said they could do the water installation that wasn't a typical one, hence I asked repeatedly if they could do it as I asked.

We have paid them several thousand dollars since Hurricane Ian rebuild, they had to come back several times for leaks on the work they did. The last thing they did for us was put in a new faucet in our Master Bathroom. They had to come back because it was leaking twice. They told me to order new ceramic inserts from Delta that if I called the 800 number they will replace. I did that and when they came to replace the insert which has leaked from the start they charged me another $204.00 which they did not tell me they were going to do until they got here. It is certainly now the most expensive faucet I have ever owned. We will not use them again. Another case of overcharging after Hurricane Ian OR their prices as just way to high. One more strike against Florida companies. Lots of very poor service at companies but very HIGH prices and we did not move from a cheap state. I used them because they would at least come sometime on the day they said they would.
