Plumbing & Cooling Nerds represents the third phase of the plumbing and air conditioning business founded by John Verhoff after relocating to Southwest Florida in 2007. He began by working on new construction assignments. Yet, following the 2008-2009 recession, he realized that contractor work restricted his business autonomy. In 2012, Verhoff shifted his focus to home services, first teaming up with a friend on a business that operated in Florida and two additional states. After buying out his friend's stake in the Florida segment of the business in 2016, he needed a fresh name and identity. This is when Plumbing & Cooling Nerds was established. Plumbing & Cooling Nerds is dedicated to delivering “smarter home solutions” with “nerd-like enthusiasm.”

Hello, I'm John Verhoff, the founder and ""Head Nerd"" of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds. My passion for home services began in high school, and I strive to provide the best service to my clients. When I founded Plumbing Nerds in 2007, I recognized the need for a more customer-oriented plumbing service. Our goal is to ""change the way the world views skilled trades,"" which entails delivering contemporary, tech-savvy solutions for routine plumbing challenges. We educate homeowners on their plumbing and HVAC systems and offer choices that align with their needs. We appreciate your consideration of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds for your home service requirements. I hope we can transform your perception of trade professionals.

Extremely overpriced and unqualified techs. Quoted me 1000 dollars for a job that another plumber just did for 150 dollars. Won't ever call them again.

Plumbing Nerds came and said I had a leak in the floor. To find it they needed me to contact LeakHero. He came and said since the leak was in the protective sleeve he could not locate it. But he said it was within a one fot radius of the pipe. Nerds wanted $85 to return and would then layout my options. They did not have the people on duty on Sunday to break the floor and repair the leak. It would cost $835 for repair on Monday. Called PRIVETTE Plumbing. They showed up within the hour and 2 hours later it was repaired for $395 and they were on their way. Great plumber """"Joey"""" neat clean and fast.

Plumbing nerds just quoted me a price of over $5000 to run a gas line to a pool heater, a project with a national average price of roughly $500. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They obviously are waiting for people to rip off who do not research the price before hiring.

The gentleman that came from Plumbing Nerds was a nice guy, seemed knowledgeable and performed the work as I expected. My 2-star rating only is in regard to pricing. I purchased and had ready a new Kohler Toilet and it was what would be considered....a standard, easy install. In addition, we also had the company replace the internal guts of the toilet in our other bathroom, It took the guy an hour and a half if that. My bill was $619. This seems an exorbitant amount all things considered. I wouldn't use them again, but rather would try to find a more reasonably priced plumbing contractor.

After receiving the bad news that a complete re-piping of my home was necessary, I anticipated a few holes for access inside my home, and care to secure my home from infiltration of pests. I ended up with multiple very large holes in almost every room which were left open to my crawl space. I was not given this information until it was impossible for me to cover this access for multiple days. I will never be comfortable with now being in my home knowing what could have entered through multiple holes after the inspector saw a 6 foot snake outside my home!!!!!!!!! How is this acceptable??????? Condescending response from their customer service. So upset Now they apparently can't schedule an inspection correctly! Was supposed to be today(Tues 5/26) now who knows when inspection will be done. My home continues to be open to pests!!! Now they sent another contractor out without notification for further """"insulation """". Don't know who these people are and have even less confidence that this work is being done correctly

Interesting approach but not for me. I called with a specific problem and asked about rates. They won't say until they come out (for free). So, we scheduled. Two people (one was being trained, it was explained) came out and saw the problem. And preceded to quote me 2.5 times more than the competition. I explained the prices were way out of line. They said they only go by what is in their hand-helds' menu. I explained they wasted my time and their time. Had they been open with their prices and rates beforehand they would not have wasted our time. They explained that reception and dispatch was not qualified (to share prices). I think they do this on purpose so customers will say yes to the (much!) higher price since they are there anyway. I showed them the way out. And happily, found a happy qualified available plumber at a reasonable rate. And they earned a great review.

Plumbing Nerds, were very professional, prompt and extremely expensive. They are by far the most expensive plumbers I have ever heard of, but they did get the work done when promised. It really was a simple job, but the invoice was not simple. So, good work, poor prices.

I asked Plumbing Nerds to install a whole house water filtration system in my house and they did an excellent job. They were on time, the price was good, did the job in a reasonable amount of time and explained everything I needed to know about my filtration system. I'll definitely use PN again!!

We didn't hire them!!! Because they work on a flat rate only. Their, technician, prepared the proposal before he arrived and had not even seen the job. """" He did update the proposal after he arrived and I showed him 3 additional small things I asked him to do"""". The job was a very simple electric Tankless hot water heater install plus a Bidet toilet seat and a 1in pipe relocate using 2 ft of PVC pipe and a couple of PVC glue fittings cost maybe """"$10.00"""". The electrical charge was going to be $1004.00 to pull 10 feet of wire and install 2 ea. 60 amp breakers. The Tec seemed more interested in upselling me a maintenance agreement than doing the job. He was a very nice guy!!! I had to ask him more than once to just give me the bottom line price then I had to ask him to break it down into unit pricing that is where I saw the truth. The entire job may have taken him 4 or 5 hrs at best. Had we paid him for a $100 service call and $100 per hr? it might have cost $600.00 and total parts of $ 100.00, My electrician was $250.00 Total $ 950.00. Plumbing Nerds wanted in excess of $2500.00 Please be careful they will try to take advantage of you. PS: I had already purchased the Rheem hot water heater at Home Depot. I have been a licensed Florida underground utility contractor for over 35 years and have installed 100s of thousands of feet of pipe up to 8 ft in diameter I know when someone is trying to take advantage of me!!!!
