My yelp search led me to Plumber Bob. My bathroom is flooded and my boyfriend who fixes everything is of course out of town. Unfortunately, Bob is on vacation, however he was SO helpful!! He took my call and walked me through several steps to try to figure out where the problem is and then referred me to someone that could come out. He was so pleasant and said I could call back if I had any questions, which I did. He didn't answer, but called me back a couple minutes later even though I didn't leave a message. I was looking for a ""main cap"" and found another pipe with no cap so I called to ask him if it could be the ""main cap"" even though it didn't meet the description he gave. He said to send him a photo and he'd call me back. He called right back to let me know what it was. If I ever have another plumbing issue I will definitely use Plumber Bob!! His customer service was outstanding! Thank you Bob! Enjoy your vacation!

On time, honest, professional and got the job done. Needed a new water heater and recirc pump at my rental property. Did the job cheaper than other quotes I got.

I also have also been through the ""hard knocks"" and have my share of nightmare plumber stories. I finally gave up on my last plumber, who had been doing poor work, price gouging, and flaking out on appointments. Working with Bob was like a breath of fresh air. He was personable, offered to come by on a Saturday - in the middle of his family obligations, and took care of a small but custom plumbing job in a little over an hour. I was impressed with how fast and skilled he was with coming up with a solution to fix mistakes the other plumber had made, re-soldering copper pipe and installing shut off valves where needed. What convinced me to hire Bob was his willingness to come by quickly and offer reasonable hourly rates (versus charging by the job). All the others wanted to charge time and a half for Saturday and after 5pm on weekdays. We WILL be using Bob again for future plumbing needs.

I had a bad experience with Bob. Here's the short version of the story. I had a leaking toilet and a problem with thek itchen faucet. Wife called and he came by and said we needed to replace both and call him back when we purchase the new ones. OK, no biggie. Seemed like a reasonable guy. We acquired the merchandise from home depot and called. Here's when the debacle started. He was hard to get a hold of. Understood. The guy works hard. We wanted the toilet fixed as not having one working downstairs was becoming an issue. Got a hold of him. He asked me to text him the next day (Tuesday) at 1pm and he would let me know if he can come Wednesday. Texted him but did not hear back till evening Tuesday. He said he could not make it till Friday morning. I asked if 9 was ok (going to disneyland Thursday all day). He said he preferred 8 so we set up for 8. Friday comes and no show. Waited a long while and decided to text. Seemed like he completely forgot about it. So I asked if he could come Saturday. He said 7 am (pretty early for me). Got up at 7 am. Waited an hour and no show, no call, no text. I texted him, my wife texted him and to this day we have not even received a response. Went with another plumber. Toilet and Faucet fixed. You would think it is common courtesy to let your customer know if you can't make it.

Like a previous poster, I too felt like I've been to the ""plumbing contractor school of hard knocks"" when I had a cold water slab leak. All the plumbers that I called were BBB'ed and were checked for contractor's license. Some even had positive reviews on yelp.

The first guy brought his leak detection contractor and they started off fine, but the plumber cut into my cold water line under my kitchen sink. The idea was to cap the water and isolate where exactly the leak was located since jackhammering and fixing the leaking pipe was still on the table. Eventually, I decided for a re-pipe.

Well, it's all fine and dandy to cut the cold water line and cut water to the kitchen faucet, but the guy didn't take into account that I had a single-handle faucet and the backpressure from the still connected hot water line was causing water to flow through the cut line. Into my walls which were previously dry. I dropped the first guy for lack of knowledge.

I gathered quotes from 4 other guys and thought I selected a good plumbing company except for how they referred me to a water damage company that resorted to scare tactics. Mold, asbestos, lead, ripping of my newly rennovated cabinets, etc. A search on the web and a visit to the cdc.gov website assured me that this was overkill for a one-time leak that was dried out within 24/48 hrs. So I declined the water damage company services, dried out the walls myself with a carpet dryer rental, and informed the plumber that I was only going to do the re-piping. All fine back and forth communication until the morning that they were supposed to start work. They were almost an hour late with no phone calls when I found out that what they advertised on the web didn't match their paper estimate. I called them mentioning that they were late and also asked for an explanation on the near bait-and-switch. I wasn't happy with their excuses and their begrudged concession to use what was advertised.

In the end, I went with Plumber Bob as he was one of the other guys I had gotten quotes on. I remembered how upfront he was on what he was going to do and how he spent the time explaining the different types of copper pipes (thinner type M vs. thicker/overkill type L). He didn't argue, he explained. His pricing was also extremely competitive. For the price he gave, I got both the re-pipe and the drywall repairs afterwards. The second guy would have only given me the re-pipe at only a slightly lower price.

When Plumber Bob showed up, he made me a very happy camper by bringing the type L pipes that he knew I was attached to. He does all his own soldering so he might not be as fast as a bigger company with crew and overhead, but I found that all the more assuring. He is careful of where he cuts into the drywall and does try to minimize any disturbance/dust. He cleans up at the end of each day.

Plumber Bob does excellent work. My dad who used to be a welder examined the solders every day and gave a thumbs up. More telling, perhaps, is that once the re-pipe was all done, there were no leaks at all on the first try. The water meter doesn't move at all like it did before with the slab leak. With the new pipes and new insulation of the pipes, the hot water comes out faster and hotter. I've had to lower the thermostat on the hot water heater because it's hotter than before.

I'm very pleased with Plumber Bob and would happily recommend him.

edit on 9/28: I noticed after I posted this review that someone else had a negative review of Plumber Bob. I'm sad to see that as I think my major job and my bad experience with past plumbers might have prioritized my re-pipe job over the toilet/faucet repair.

I'm sure that if Plumber Bob had a office staff to schedule things for him, things would have turned out different, but he's a small guy with great prices because he doesn't have a secretary or salesperson.

Bob the Plumber was absolutely fantastic. We had a broken pipe behind our kitchen drawers that was causing a bad mold problem. He gave us the best and most affordable solution. Another mold contractor almost cost us about 10! Bob came in, gave us an honest quote for his work, fixed up the pipe and was very professional. Give him a call if you want a honest hardworking plumber.

It seems kind of odd, writing a review for a plumber that I've never met, nor has ever visited my home. But I'm doing it anyway, because this guy is uncommonly awesome!

Today I had a new washing machine delivered, and was bummed to have the installer tell me that they couldn't complete the work. They said the shut off valves were too corroded and that I'd need to have a plumber replace the valves first.

I called around to a couple of local plumbers, and was quoted up to $400 for the repair, since the valves are recessed in the wall and some drywall work would be required.

Since I'm new to the area, I decided to check out Yelp! Then I called Plumber Bob because he had so many great reviews.

He asked me what type of valves were there, and after a few other questions, determined that it was likely that the corrosion was only on the hose, not the valves.

He said I could just get a wire brush, clean off the corrosion, get some channel locks, and carefully disconnect the line. And if it was still too tight to remove, he offered a couple of other ideas.

Ten minutes later, I had the hoses off! Shortly thereafter, I completed the install and the machine is washing it's first load as I type.

Plumber Bob may not have earned any income today from solving my problem, but he certainly earned my respect, my referrals, and my business the next time I have a plumbing need.

Plumber Bob was fast, honest and the best price I could find. Bob charged half of what some other larger companies quoted and showed up within hours to fix my broken main. He does what he can to save his customer money and I'll definitely be calling him from now on.
