Dennis B.Had a year long HVAC heat, a/c, hot water, humidifier contract with these people, which ended this month. Their service team were fine, except for one faucet repair. Friendly, competent and generally helpful. The problem(s), encountered,, were with the office. The initial contract took almost a month to receive & execute the final revision contract. I was told there wasn't an agreement that included all the covered HVAC units. After a few weeks, of back and forth, I received an actual HAVAC service agreement, covering all the units, which they told me didn't exist. This was .followed by a series of calls, messages left on their answering service in order to schedule the HVAC contract's required initial inspection, service of my covered units. When I finally reached a person, I was told the person I was dealing with, re contract , trying to reach, re initial visit no longer worked at the company. No reason offered for not returning calls, messages etc. There were, in addition, multiple contract dates re contract's start date. The beginning of March '24 I started receiving separate renewal agreements for 3 of 4 of my units and a notification from my CC of a large charge to my CC. When requesting the same single agreement for my 4 units that I received last year (I enclosed a copy), including the missing unit, I was told they don't have a single document and their renewal date was before any contract was signed.. Therefore an automatic renewal came into question. After a series of back and forth emails, invoice, contract copies, to work out my concerns, I stopped receiving answers. The day before the company's stated end date for my 23-24 agreement I had a service call for a sudden heating problem. Service person diagnosed, repaired and charged me full service call price. HVAC service calls/parts were covered by a 10% discount. Service person said my contract was reading as pending and couldn't process discount. Emails to company about paying full charge before contract end date, were not returned nor any further communication received. I will now have to dispute the overcharge with my CC. To sum up, they have good service people and a poorly run, sketchy, inefficient company. I spent over 2000.00 on other services, plumbing etc during service period, so you would think that I would receive a modicum of respect. Heads up re all home service companies. This is a heads up re my experience with one of the recommended companies.
Excellent company. A local, family-owned business with two honest, responsive, hardworking owners. When I had a service problem one Sunday morning, the owner called me back in 1 minute and had a truck to fix my furnace within the hour. They are honest and reliable with oil delivery. Their team also knows how to service radiators which is a bit of a dying art in my view. I highly recommend them for oil and all of your other HVAC needs.
I had no heat Christmas Eve Day. I called Plitnick's and they were able to send someone out by the day's end and get the heat going. I'm grateful!
Gabe K.Saved my Christmas!
Our sewer line backed up on Friday afternoon, the day before Christmas Eve. With my in-laws arriving in less than 24 hours, I called 3 different local sewer companies and no one had a technician on call during the holiday. The 3rd company recommended Plitnick, and Sean showed up on Friday night to unclog my sewer pipe. He was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and the price was reasonable, even despite the weekend and holiday time crunch.
Plitnick will be the first plumber on my list from now on. Thanks!
Responsible and thorough. I've had multiple contractors only do a half job of fixing my old furnace. Plitnick took the time and effort to get the right parts and do a proper installation.
David J.Very bad experience. They came recommended and I had a fine experience with the first few techs that came out to our house. They were all friendly and seemed knowledgable. We moved into a new house and we wanted to make sure our boiler was in good shape before the winter so they came out to run a combustion test and left the house telling me everything was in great shape and my boiler was running efficiently. They left behind a printout of their readings for our record.
Our gas usage and bills were extremely high all season so we had an energy audit completed by a different company. They took one look at the combustion test printout that Plitnick left behind and immediately knew something wasn't right. Plitnick did not notice the CO reading was not measured and the efficiency percentage did not make sense for the boiler I had. Ultimately I discovered that my boiler had been running horribly efficient all season long and their error cost me hundreds of dollars in inflated gas bills every month.
I called Plitnick to ask them about the combustion test and why they didn't flag the concerns from their readings and they got extremely defensive, texted me a bunch of weird articles/links about some unrelated federal regulations, info from the Testo website (the devices they use for the combustion test), and information about home inspections (not relevant). None of this addressed my very simple question as to why they did not notice the CO reading was not measured. They literally left the evidence showing there were issues with my boiler this entire time, but they did not notice. They told me the owner of the company would call me to discuss but I never heard back despite my polite follow-ups asking for some clarification. They also never gave me the results from a water test we asked them to do a few weeks prior. They just stopped responding entirely. Clearly they know they screwed up.
Extremely disappointing that they would not take any responsibility for their mistake and make even the slightest effort to keep me as a customer.
Edgar M.I needed a couple of minor bathroom repairs. The office staff is responsive. They sent Sal as my plumber. Sal was very friendly, on time, quick and efficient. Got the job done in well under an hour. At $195 an hour, time is of the essence. I deducted 1 star because of the hourly rate. Otherwise, an excellent service.
Jay H.Good and fair pricing and professional services make Plitnick the go-to plumbers for my household.
I once had a drain problem before going on vacation and called Plitnick but they were all booked. I didn't want to leave it until we returned so I called a competitor, one that used to have ads on TV. It cost me over $500 (flat-rate) for what was 30 mins of easy work - what a rip off. Plitnick, in comparison, had cleared this drain a few times over the many years we've lived here and the most it ever cost was $165; it varies because they charged on how much time they spent.
Our central air conditioning broke down in the middle of the heat wave at the end of July and we desperate to get it fixed as quickly as possible. We called Plitnick because of the reviews on YELP and they sent someone the same day who found that our motor had burnt out and needed replacing. They ordered the part and fixed the problem within days. Excellent, fast service.
Tracy W.ConEd shut our gas off because of a small leak. I got four quotes from licensed plumbers with the certifications necessary to do gas work for ConEd. Joe Plitnick was very knowledgeable and thorough, and his quote was the most competitive. He was able to send someone to start working quickly and explained why we would need to do more than just fix the leak to get ConEd's sogn-off. The two plumbers on Joe's team who worked at our house were both very professional and personable. After the work was completed, they arranged for the village inspector to sign off on their work without delay, and promptly forwarded the paperwork on to ConEd for review and processing. They must have some magical staff at Plitnick, because even though we'd been warned that ConEd can take a long time to respond, they managed to get ConEd to approve the request in one day. So we are now just waiting for the final inspection to be scheduled and our gas will be back on. We are delighted.
