No way would I hire these people. Sears was using them as contractors for a water heater (under the master protection agreement) install since they don't have licensed plumbers on staff any more. Spoke with Jennifer, who seemed quite polite and professional, on Wednesday morning. Told me Sears was not releasing the water heater till Thursday late in the day. The soonest they could come was Friday. I told her I was going to call Sears to see if we could improve on that time frame and call her back. Sears said it would be ready for pick up on Wednesday between 1-5 pm. I called Platinum back and got their voicemail to see if we could arrange for the next day. (My mom is 92 and had not had a shower since Sunday.) Got voicemail and left a message. Tried several times to call with same results each time. Sears could not get ahold of them either nor would they farm it out to another contractor. Lots of back and forth. In the end, we ended up going to Home Depot and contracted them to install a new one with a 6 year warranty and 5 years on labor. Home Depot, start to finish from first phone call to install was about 90 minutes.
I also had an installation scheduled from Platinum Installation through Sears. They did not call the night before to give me a 4 hour time slot for when they would arrive. I too tried contacting the office and never heard anything back from them. Their voice mail did not mention their company name -- just said ""Installation"". Their voice mail did leave a cell number and suggested leaving a text which I did. They never responded. Around 3pm they rang my doorbell. When I answered the installer just looked at me and I looked at him. He did not say ""Hi! I am John from ABC Company and am here to install your water softener"". All he mumbled was ""water softener"". He briefly looked at softener and said he would have to put in new pipes for about $225 and they would only haul away the old softener if there was no salt in it otherwise we would be charged around $150. Now these charges were in addition to the $299 installation fee and $25 haul away fee I already paid to Sears. I was forced to cancel my order. Fortunately Lowe's came through, I purchased a water softener on Sunday and their installer was at my house the next morning. Standard installation fee which included haul away of old one even with salt in it. Would not recommend Platinum Installation to anyone. The problem is when you place the order with Sears you don't know ahead of time who the installer will be.
Ryan R.Had an installation scheduled from Platinum Installation through Sears and they did not show up during the window of 12-4 I was given. I tried contacting the office and the plumber and never heard anything back from them. Sears also tried contacting Platinum Installation numerous times and was unsuccessful. I was forced to cancel my order. Fortunately Lowe's came through, I purchased a water heater at 9am and their installer was at my house at noon. Would not recommend platinum to anyone.
