person who answers the phone is very rude. When you try to explain the problem, she doesn't even know what it is and wants pictures and she wants you to basically tell her what the problem is before anybody even comes out if I knew what the problem was I wouldn't have you come out, and they tried suing me because I hadn't paid them in a month

We bought an older Berkshire DIY house and needed to install a furnace return and reconfigured supply register boot. Pittsfield Pipers did a meticulous survey of the area and prepared a proposal within hours. The next day, their crew arrived at 7 and completed the work by 12:30.

From start to finish, the whole project took about a day and a half. Their workmanship is topnotch and we're delighted to have found them after searching for months for a company that does this kind of metal fabrication work.

Overpriced an Untrustworthy.
Pittsfield Pipers was hired on two separate occasions to do repairs on my property. The first time was extensive damage from a pipe freeze. Initially things started well, there were two workers, and things were progressing fast. After three days, a different worker was sent, alone. He often arrived late and left early, and also left the property for unknown reasons four long periods throughout the day. I was unable to be present at all times, and was unaware of exact hours spent. Wok dragged on for weeks, and the final beel was excessive (around $6000) when I am doubtful the hours charged were actually put in. The second time they were hired, that same year, for a leak, the same worker was sent. A member of the family was present the entire time. He arrived late, left twice, once for over 90 minutes to ""check on another job"" and also performed work not authorized without asking either owner or consulting us. He was often on his phone talking to friends and joking around rather than working - and I confronted him and mentioned this to his supervisors later. He left the property at 4:30 saying he had to return the next day to finish up, but then came back 2 days later just to pick up some tools left behind (no more work to be done). He tried to invoice us for a full 9am to 5pm - 8 hours of work when he was only present for a little less than 4.5 hours - totaling over $700 for 1 leaking pipe. I challenged the bill, and while Pittsfield Pipers did adjust it, they then told me I was unwelcome as a customer. So clearly management condones and endorses their employees wasting time and padding bills, and seeing how this was done on the second visit it truly makes me wonder how many of the hours on the original pipe freeze were padded time when the worker was not present or working.

If you hire them, make sure to watch your invoice carefully and make sure someone is at the premises to verify actual hours invoiced. Not all of their workers do this, but I am not allowed to name the one I caught due to yelp policies - so the whole company gets a bad reputation as a result.

Pittsfield Pipers saved the day for us twice after we bought this house. The first time was our garbage disposal leaking everywhere then 2 weeks later our water heater blew. Pittsfield Pipers always answers the phone (thanks Joyce!) and they sent Chaz and he did a great job both times. Very reliable company.

I called with broken heating system and burst pipe not having been a customer before. They came out in 2 hours, got everything up and running quickly and followed up with some important things they had noticed that needed attention. Very professional and was very impressed with their service manager and technician.

I had them come out and do an estimate on replacing our gas hot water heater, and the guy who came out was about an hour late, gave it a 30 second look, said he'd send me an estimate shortly and left, this was on a Friday.

Come Monday afternoon I still hadn't received a quote, so I emailed them to ask when I should expect it, and they didn't get back to me. Called them on Wednesday and left a voicemail to their quoting department, never got a call back. Finally on the following Friday they emailed me a quote and it was several hundred dollars higher than the other contractor who I ended up hiring.

Needed a gas valve replaced. They did a great job and were $200 cheaper than my first estimate with another company.
