I have used for many years and the plumber who came was efficient and friendly until the last three times .new plumber started coming. Big heavy blonde guy who was rude ,unfriendly and not at all helpful. I would not recommend at all.
I have had an unpleasant experience with this plumber over the past several months. Lack of follow-through on my needs (lack of proper diagnosis of problem and unneeded solutions, refusal to return phone calls (message left with answering service over a month+ time period). When they have done work in my home in the past, they do not clean up well after they complete their work. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this company to anyone at this time.
Mary M.We have used Pitts Plumbing for many years. They always come in a timely manner and do a good job; for whatever we have done.
So far 2 hot water heaters (separate units), radiator leaks, new hot and cold piping installed and we have had no complaints. This has been over 20 years and we still call them first.
I had Pitts come out to reseat a toilet and fix a drain in the sink. The plumber left and I discovered a leak underneath the sink. Then after one week the toilet started rocking again. So another plumber came out to reseat and in a few weeks it started to leak into my neighbors house. I called the company 5 times and they NEVER called me back. I would stay away from them as a business. I called another plumber and he said whoever reseated the toilet did not do the wax ring correctly......
Bad winter, worst snowfall in Boston history! However I'm in FL when I get a call from my neighbor about a leak into my basement. ""It's going to be hell to find someone to come out these days, they are all so busy.""
I call Pitts at 10:30 AM. They arrive at 1PM, stay an hour, fix the valve that failed and are gone by 2PM.
I give them 5 stars, wouldn't you?
While the work seems competent enough, I'm dismayed by the arrogant and even slightly shady business practices. I recently requested that my tenants' radiator be removed for work on their bathroom and was quoted a price of about $150 for removal, draining & refiling, and then another $150 for restoring the radiator. THAT was fine. But in the meantime, I ended up having to order a new sink for the job (through no fault of Pitts-Milligan, just to be clear) and asked that it be installed at the same time as the re-installation of the radiator. Billy Pitts agreed to do so, though never quoting me a price. Here was the first slip-up, though I know I should have asked. I suppose I trusted Billy and expected he would itemize everything, but he still should have given me some idea of the cost of installing the new sink.
On the return trip to do both things, restore the radiator and install the sink (thus, the second trip), the plumber came down and told me the radiator was done but that my sink was damaged and could not be installed. I had to order another sink, which I did, inspecting it carefully -- I thought -- at Home Depot, along with two other Home Depot employees. But this second sink turned out also to be damaged. (Of course, there is no way to ascertain whether the three of us just missed the crack or the plumber damaged the sink himself.) It was back Home Depot to return the damaged sink and get a third one.
The plumber (it was either Barry or Billy -- different ones each time) returned this third time and successfully installed the new sink.
I know plumbers are expensive, but I have to say, I was shocked when I saw the bill. And while the various visits and jobs were listed, the charge for each was not; there was only this sizable total at the bottom, which left me wondering: just what on earth was I being charged for?
I do understand there is a minimum visit charge and did not expect to be paying zero for the trip to install the 2nd sink. But I wasn't sure what the plumber added for the abortive sink work when he came to re-install the radiator, or what he charged for the second, fruitless sink-installation trip, or the cost of the final installation. Basically, there were two non-installations of the sink; how much was I being asked to pay for those?
I called to ask for an explanation of the bill. No response. I called again. No response. I finally made a copy of the bill with the simple request to fill in the amounts for the listed work, as I felt I had a right to know what I was paying for. Even though I'd enclosed a SELF-ADDRESSED AND STAMPED ENVELOPE that could easily have been used to provide this information, my note was ignored. I called a week after sending the note to ask again for the itemization, and that request, too, was ignored.
It could very well be that the charges were reasonable; it could also be there was an error. The work list was complicated, to be sure, with combinations of work, but that is precisely why I wanted to have things itemized. The total was four figures -- not a trivial amount!
That my polite requests for bill information have not even been acknowledged does not seem like good business to me. It even seems a little suspicious. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Mike M.I've used Pitts Plumbing twice over the last few months on a recommendation from a longtime West Roxbury resident. Great service both times, and fair pricing... I would highly recommend them again.
