I called to have the water main replaced to my house after it started leaking at the Harford County shut off. His price was good, and he came and did the job when he promised.
He had to dig the area near the post lamp on my lawn. When the light failed to work after that, I called him back. It was no problem for him to dig the area and try to fix the issue. Ultimately we discovered it was a problem with my electric circuit. He did not bill me for the call, and I am grateful and will refer freinds to him anytime.

Jim may or may not be a good plumber. All we know about him is he came to our house with one of his guys, looked over our job (replacing all the copper pipes in the basement), and then never emailed a proposal, as he had promised. He hung up abruptly on us during one phone call, then never returned any of our followup calls. If our job was too small for him to consider, he could have just told us that. But to refuse to accept or return our calls is rude and unprofessional.

My water stopped flowing in the entire house. I'm on a well, so I was really worried. I called Pipes-R-Us after finding them in the yellow book. They said they could be at my house that day. Yay. They arrived in about an hour. Turned out that the well pump was fried, holding tank had rusted, was leaking, it was a mess. I suspected it wasn't working right for quite a while. They had to go get parts and new tank. They came back, fixed everything and I had water again by the afternoon.
My experience with them was absolutely excellent.

Best possible experience for a plumbing disaster!
Jim is so polite and well-spoken. He brought over his fiber-optic equipment, and was able to show us exactly where our sewer pipe was broken. He performed the excavation of our yard himself. Had two others help to cut out and replace the broken pipe. He identified 2 other problems while he was working, and those were fixed without adding to the contracted price. Even though our yard was COMPLETELY dug up, when they were finished, they had put everything back better than we could have hoped. Such a neat job! We would recommend Jim Tolson and his company for any plumbing project.

Pipes R Us came by the same hour I called to assess the issue and provided a reasonable quote. The appointment to fix the water leak in my yard set. I called on Tuesday afternoon and my problem was fixed by Thursday at 1pm. Everyone showed up early and finished early. Very nice folks and efficient. Everything was put back together and cleaned up. Awesome service!

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST! I just had new tenants rent one of my apartments a few days before, then I found that they had a leak. I called PIPES R US and Jeff (I had used them before) said he would show up at 10:00 A.M. the following day, he never showed. After 4 or 5 phone calls, he returned my call and said he had a traffic accident, no problem I said. He promised he would be their the next day, he never showed. After 7 or 8 more calls, he refused to even return my calls. I then asked several friends to call because their phone numbers would be different and he answered every call. My friends said NEVER use this guy again because he had other jobs he took and was afraid to at least call me back and explain. The work he was supposed to do might have been a correction of what he had done earlier. very

Let's try to create a 6 out of 5 rating. Our water heater exploded and we've had a catastrophe.
The disaster management guy recommended Jim who arrived on time with his daughter as his professional sidekick. YES! Guy who makes daughter partner immediately scores points.

He gave us a quote, had a new water heater available, promised to finish the job in 1.5 hours. Showed up on time and then he disappeared. I thought..oops... not going to have water tonight. An hour later he shows up all cheerful, committed to finishing the job. Turns out he cut the end of his finger off during installation and had to go the local medical emergency place. Never said a word when he came back, just finished the job and then went to the hospital after finishing the job. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Low key guy who just does the right thing. How rare.

Told me to wait at home after 2PM on Friday. So I took a half day off and waited at home. No show. Called me at 4;30PM saying he could not make it and will come on Tuesday in stead. What a waste of my half day off!! :(
