MONEY SCHEMERS!!!!BEWARE!!! I just had one of their technicians just left, Jeff A, who quoted me 1700$$$$ too hook back up 2 vanities with new faucets and a new toilet after tile work was done. 1700??? Contractor was going to do it for free but I wanted a plumber. I had the same experience previously that plumber started to quote ridiculous rates for different services so back to Hiller.
Tamala J.this is an update to the last review on pipe wrench plumbing's terrible buss. and work , the cheap bib they put on the back of my home went bad , water all over my yard this morning , I was told , and I have this on my answering machine that because of the last issue they had with me , they will not be servicing me any more , well , this cheap bib you installed , might not be under warranty , but the rest of the pipping is , and if it goes bad , you darn well will service me , or you will be sued , when I just tried to call them back and tell them this , they will not answer my home phone number nor will they answer my cell phone , they have blocked me , as I said in the last review of this fly by night company , I was told when they let pipes lay on the ground and not insulated , and my pipes froze , it was my fault because I lived in a trailer ( so im trailer trash now ) and that because we have no building codes in Morgan county , Tn. , they did not have to do it right , and to bad , I would not give 1 star if I could , they will rip you off , unethical , liars ...
We called Pipe Wrench Plumbing to explain we had an active leak in an upstairs toilet, and that water was coming through the ceiling, and that the shutoff valve had failed so we couldn't stop the leak without turning water off to the entire house.
We needed someone to come out same day. They said no problem, and put us on the schedule for later that day. So far so good. But the person who showed up had no tools. They sent a sales person instead of a plumber.
After a few minutes of inspecting the toilet, this sales person went outside, then came back in and informed us that the pressure in our pipes was extremely high, about 150psi, which meant our pressure regulator had failed.
He explained this high pressure can damage toilets and other plumbing fixtures in the house, and that it explained the leaking toilet upstairs, and that problems like this are common when a pressure regulator fails.
He said it was a huge priority to get the pressure regulator replaced, and quoted $800 for that, plus several more hundred to fix the toilet itself, and the shutoff valve.
I was surprised by this, because we had replaced the pressure regulator about a year before. I thought maybe the previous installers had done something wrong.
So I went to Home Depot and bought a $12 pressure meter. I went to the same hose faucet that he used outside, to measure the pressure myself. It was 35 psi.
I called so that management would know that I got a different reading from the sales person, and that I didn't think we actually needed the pressure regulator replaced. The manager and sales person came out again, together, and tested the pressure again. The manager confirmed it was 35 psi, like I had measured, and there was nothing wrong with our pressure regulator. The manager said it was just a case where the sales person was using a bad pressure meter, and they would get him a new one.
I will let the reader draw their own conclusions.
This review is for their management/customer service. No issues at all with their plumber. I called to get a very simple and straightforward answer regarding a pipe joint makeup made over a year ago (I was doing some other home repairs recently, I noticed that one of the pipe joints was not like the others). After a lengthy back and forth phone calls, where I was interrogated as though I was guilty of something (over 2 day period, multiple phone calls), they told me there was nobody anywhere in their company to answer my question, and I was mistaken on which company performed the work on the house. Her quote ""there are many plumbing trucks/companies in Knoxville that are also called Pipewrench Plumbing, you mis-identified us and are calling the wrong company"" and ""If you do indeed want an answer about joint makeup, you'll have to pay for another service call"". I told her based on her customer service, it is no wonder they have so many 1 star ratings on Yelp. She said that I should contact the BBB, that their BBB rating is good. smh..... Anyway I called another company (Dean Plumbing), I got my question answered in about 30 seconds - he gave me a quick answer to my simple question on joint makeup (both types of joints are technically acceptable) - and I was a happy camper.
Kendra T.First, I want to say that I am not an employee fabricating any five star review as another person has suggested in their review. I am actual customer who needed help with my washing machine overflowing into my garage. When the guys came out from Pipe Wrench they looked over everything thoroughly. In addition to our washing machine, there were other things that needed to be fixed. They explained what needed to be done and the cost involved. We made the decision to have everything repaired and we have had no further problems. I highly recommend Pipe Wrench Plumbing. The men worked diligently until the problems were solved. We found every employee who came out to be friendly, professional, straight shooters and hard working. Could not be thankful enough for Pipe Wrench Plumbing. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Pipe Wrench was called to find the leakages in the gas line. No same day service provided !
Their technicians are not very knowledgeable. Initially a leak was found and costed about $1500 to fix. That fix did not help and the pressure test would still leak. Instead of spending time to find the leak, the technician gave up and recommended a new gas line installation at a cost of $4580. The new gas line turned out to be a project as it would also leak. Different technicians spent their days trying to fix the leak. It took them a week (You wonder why a few days were not spent finding the leak).
The only person that turned out to be technical and helpful was their manager.
Overall I gave them F rating as they turned out to be not very ethical. Instead of spending time to help the customer find the leak in the existing pipeline, they opted to fill their pocket with an expensive and time consuming solution. It costed me more money to fix the holes on the floors and ceilings ;(. And they did not provide any credit for ~$1500 charged earlier. I wish I had consulted someone else for the 2nd opinion.
Misty G.Recommended by a friend but will never use again. Charged $180 to ""fix"" our toilet that wasn't fully flushing. Their work did not fix our problem and we called to have them come back out and were told the work was not warrantied and we could send someone else but we would have to pay another service charge of $59.99. After expressing frustration they sent Josh back out for free but he was not able to do anything more without charging us again because what he had done the day before was not under warranty and told us we were going to need a new toilet. We are out $180 and still looking at having to buy a new toilet to remedy our problem so this was a total waste of our money.
Horrible customer service skills! The fact you're lead to believe after extensive work is done (over 4K) that they will stand behind their work is FALSE! So after spending a huge amount of money, even getting them to come out for a minor clog was difficult. Even worse we were lead to believe the second time around we would only be charge a service fee, again FALSE. They charged us $200 and two days later we are now having the same issue! Moving on to a real company who have employees with all their teeth.
Slyest F.My heating went out and since it was winter, I needed it back very badly. I went online and located Pipe Wrench as a local place that could repair the unit. They first sent a technician who came out and diagnosed that my blower motor was broken and needed to be replaced. He said it would be in the realm of $800. However, he said that he could not provide a quote himself, and that another person would need to come out to do so. I found this strange, but within a few hours the second person did arrive. He then immediately started to tell me that not only was the blower motor out, but that it failed due to my ducting being too small. He quoted me the $700-800 for the motor, PLUS another $2000 to replace the ducting. On top of that, he also recommended that we MOVE the outside unit further from the house, for another $1700. As icing on the cake, he recommended that we actually replace the entire unit for a whopping total of over $10,000.
While I may have been willing to spend the $700-800 for the repair, I decided that it was time for a second opinion because I felt strongly via the tactics and verbiage being used that this was a sales person at work.
A second company came out, and went outside to investigate. Within MINUTES of being outside, I heard the fan kick back on in the house. He came back in, and informed me that the blower motor was not dead, but that the capacitor simply needed to be changed. He confirmed that ANY trained technician would have definitely checked this and that I was definitely being put through the ringer. My heat was repaired for a total of $75.
I cannot endorse Pipe Wrench due to their use of high pressure sales tactics and either their ignorance or blatant lying as to the cause of the actual issue. I suspect they are more accustomed to clientele that have more money than sense.
Originally would have given them 5 stars, as they came out and replaced our water main for a reasonable price and in one day. Within a few weeks the dirt under my driveway began eroding. We called the company and they came out and admitted fault and put fill dirt in. The fill dirt eroded and the original dirt continued to erode. We called again, and again and finally someone came out to look at it. Again admitted fault and said they would take care of it. No one has been back since despite my husband and I calling and pleading with them to fix it before our driveway (and our neighbors driveway) collapses. This has been going on for a year. I would recommend going to a different company even if the price is higher because this has been a nightmare for us. The management refuses to even return our phone calls.
