Oof. Not a good experience. Not completely bad, as the lady on the phone was nice. But the quote I was eventually given during the plumber's visit was ridiculously high. Fortunately I knew enough to recognize the gouging that was going on, instead of giving them the green light.
Minor dripping from two faucets. I knew what needed to be done...basically a single cartridge replacement for both faucets. But typically I'd rather professionals do it than going the DIY route myself. But they quoted me over $400 per faucet...claiming that they'd need to do a full rebuild of each faucet. A FULL REBUILD. I knew that was BS right off the bat, so I said ""no"". So they then told me they'd give me a discount to bring the ridiculous price down to $350 per faucet...which was still insanely high for such a basic fix.
So I declined that price as well, and sent them on their way.
After that, I continued my DIY research and ended up acquiring the single part I needed for each sink. One part was a single cold-water replacement cartridge to remedy the drip. That part retails for a whopping $7...and it took a whopping 10 minutes to pull out the old cartridge and install the new one.
...and the other faucet I fixed successfully in the same way.
I should also add that I contacted the manufacturer of both faucets, and they sent me those replacement cartridges FREE OF CHARGE.
Glad I wasn't a sucker by paying $700+ for something that I fixed basically for free, and maybe 30 minutes of my time to complete it.
OK, now that I've shared the success that I had with repairing those faucets for damn-near free. Here's another fun-fact. I told the person who quoted me that outrageous charge while he was at my house, that the faucets that I had retailed at $40 and $80 brand new. But he still insisted that his company would still have to do a complete rebuild of the inner components of each one, for a total of a ""discounted"" price of $700+. WOW!!!
I mean, do the very simple math. Why rebuild those faucets for $700-$800 when I could just buy two new faucets for a grand total of $120, tops?!!
When I told the plumber guy at my house that, he just answered, in a rather defeated voice, ""Man...I know...I totally understand. That's just how they(his company) do it. I wouldn't be able to afford that quote either.""
Like, he totally knew they were price gouging, and he knew it.
What a crazy experience. It was such a blatant display of horrible customer service. It was laughable.
I'll wrap this review up with another nugget of info. Several years back, I had used this business to update ALL of the plumbing in my house to pex piping...and they did a wonderful job with it...BACK THEN.
So, whatever happened between then and now with this company(Pipe Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Cooling), is beyond me. Something really bad happened between then and now. Because their business ethic has really taken a nose-dive since then.
In final, after what I've shared here, I will NEVER call this company for repairs again...nor will I ever in my right-mind recommend them to anyone(besides my enemies..lol)
Bethe W.The gentleman who worked inside were amazing. No complaints about the installation. The outside is the biggest disappointment ever. I will have to hire a landscaper to try to fix it after spending $12,500 with Pipe Wrench. I will never use them or recommend them to anyone.
Janet C.I can not thank the same day service and Bobby Merritt for quick and efficient service and answering my call ASAP.
I had a dinner party of 12 that eve and my kitchen sink was so backed up.
Called them at 8:00 in the morning and a TEC ( Bobby) was there by 10:00 and was not expected till 11:00 or after!
He worked diligently and was able to get it clear within the hour and triple checked to make sure my evening would NOT back up!!
He was very personable and kind on top of it all which is always a plus when your stressed out over this type of thing.
I can not thank BOBBY enough and want PIPE WRENCH to know they have a gem of an employee ...and I thank the gals who took my calls and got a quick response to my situation!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Horrible experience with PIPE WRENCH PLUMBING.
We have one bathroom, two people, and a septic tank about 8 or 10 ft out from the bathroom wall. Plumbing was backing up and would not drain. They told us it was tree roots causing the problem, then told us we needed a new septic tank, then told us we probably needed new field lines.
Ended up being about a 15"" piece of pipe needed to be replaced going into the septic tank. For some reason they cut a big square hole in our bedroom wall which is adjacent to the bathroom, drilled a hole in the bathroom floor next to where the current water line comes in.
THEY REPLACED THE PIECE OF PIPE AND LEFT THE OLD PIECE LAYING IN THE YARD, LEFT THE HOLE IN OUR BEDROOM WALL, AND LEFT THE HOLE IN THE BATHROOM FLOOR OPEN AND CHARGED US
$4,000.
Now we have to pay to have the hole in the wall fixed and replace flooring in the bathroom because of the hole they drilled in the floor
If there were a rating of zero I would give it to this company. I called them on Monday needing a leaking drain line fixed. They called me stating someone would be there the next day, even though they advertise same day service or no service charge. They did not show up until Wednesday, and charged me the service charge. For a simple pipe leak, which was visible, they charged $2,800. The irritating thing was they tried to talk me into paying $350 to a have camera run trhough my drain line to ""make sure"" nothing else was wrong. I told them no and that was a ridiclus charge to which they replied ""it's a $13,000 camera."" They then tried to tell me my AC was leaking and tried to sell me a repair on it (It was not leaking). They dug up my front yard, and said they would reseed it, but did not, and let left the dirt in piles. The clean out access, that was formally ground level and easy to hide, is now 3-feet off the ground right beside my front porch and an eye sore. This company is nothing but crooks who try to play on customers lack of knowledge to sell services not needed, and do not complete jobs as promised. I will NEVER use them again.
Called around 8 p.m. on 12/26/22 to see if they could clean out a clogged sewer line. The lady I spoke with told me my information would be passed to the main office and someone would get in touch with me the next day. I called back the next day on 12/27/22 around 9 a.m. to see if I could get an estimate on if/when someone would contact me. The person I spoke with had a record of my previous call and said ""this is for a bathroom sink, correct"". I said, ""no I have a clogged sewer line"". I was informed my information was updated and I would be contacted later in the morning. As of this writing on 12/28/22, no one has contacted me. Fortunately I was able to find another agency which was able to unclog my sewer. Trying not to be too critical as the weather has been awful and caused many people to suffer broken pipes due to freezing. However, if your company is too busy to help me, you should say so, rather than tell me someone will get back with me ""later this morning"". Still waiting to see if anyone calls me!
Jan S.Highway Robbery! Do not call these people, especially if you are elderly. They charged $612 for a pressure regulator valve swap out. That's almost $450/hour labor. We priced the part at the highest at $150. Never been treated this way. Inhumane.
Ron was horrible. First, I requested on the service order that he call me upon arrival so that I could discuss the issue. Instead, he waiting almost 1.5 hrs upon arriving to call me, and proceeded to do an entire home evaluation (which i did not request, i just needed my bathtub clog fixed). Then he told me he would have to remove the entire tub, cut a hole in my closet wall to get to the P trap and replace most of the piping that leads out to the house, and that it was going to run me about $5000. I told him I wanted a second opinion and he got really salesy and came off like a bad used car salesmen. Thank God i did get a second opinion. Early the next day, i hired a private contractor to go over and assess the tub. he gave it a quick blast with a pressure hose and fixed the problem in 30 seconds. He then only charged me $25 because it literally was the simplest fix. Had i been present at the home I know I could've fixed this myself, and this company took advantage of
the fact that they knew it was a rental property and I was not there. Awful, dishonest and I will never use or recommend this company ever again!
-10 is not a choice!!!! Same day or free did not come till next day. $99 drain cleaning no. did not have to dig for sewer access, only disconnect p trap and run router thru line $400 grease found in kitchen sink line no warranty and the warranty would be for 30 days grease not available. here 40 minutes and did I say $400 I strongly advise against them!!!! knoxville tn i Don't know where California came from i am in Knoxville TN

My experience was horrific. When I had my yearly evaluation (August 2021) after purchasing a new unit, I complained about the humidity in the house. Nothing resolved. In October, I came back from vacation to find mold all throughout my house - walls, furniture. In November I had pneumonia which I had never had before. In December, I had a cold draft coming through the house. When I went in the crawl space, the duct work had collapsed. I'm sure this had been the issue all along but I was the one that had to discover it. The tech that came to correct the problem said that it was not installed properly. I asked to have an air quality test done to find out if this was the cause of my pneumonia. A tech was sent out and apparently they have been unable to get results for 2 months due to equipment issues. This means that anyone that has paid to have this service done for the month of May and June of 2022 has wasted their money because no results can be found due to faulty equipment.
I requested 3 times to speak to the manager (owner's daughter). No response or apology for what I have experience. That's what happens when you inherit your father's business. No pride!
Shame on Pipe Wrench.
