From the President: “I was negotiating a merger between a plumbing parts supplier and a service company, intending to create a national franchise. After the parts supplier pulled out, I began working for the service company to boost its financial performance.” President Myles O’Dwyer shares that his favorite aspect of working with sewer lines is the unique challenges each job presents. “The nature of pipe work can differ significantly from site to site—even if they are next to each other—necessitating extensive investigation and problem-solving to find optimal solutions. Daily challenges keep our work interesting. Many think that replacing a sewer line means digging a big trench in the yard, but our trenchless methods enable us to burst and replace a pipe without disrupting the ground. “Clients really value that option.”

Pipe Spy replaced our 300+ ft. Lateral line . This was a difficult job with some very steep terrain. The crew spent some long hours using the pipe bursting system and did minimal excavation on our property. The inspector arrived with Pipe Spy walking them thru the installation approving the job. What more can you ask. Also very fair pricing compared to our other bids. Highly recommended!
Miles showed up on time and with every thing he need. Ran a camera down the line and found that a large section of 100 year old Terra cote line had been cracked by trees growing on my neighbors property and the sewer line runs through that property. They dug up the both ends of the line and ran a new plastic pipe inside to old line. Problem solved.
Very fair pricing and excellent work. Of course the pipe was most the way down a hill side so access was miserable and every thing was hand carried down to the job site..Highly recommended
Needed a trenchless lateral sewer line estimate and DVD made, Pipe Spy was very professional, on-time, and knocked $50 off the bill for early payment. Couldn't be happier.
Don't waste your time, these guys are awful.
Call others and skip this one! Do NOT believe
what they tell you either.
Sarah G.I am updating my review. After the issues with the video recording of my lateral line, the owner came back out, revideoed the line and returned my check. They gave me a reasonable quote to replace part of the line and shortly thereafter scheduled and completed the work. I am satisfied with the work.
I purchased an older home that needs quite a bit of updating of systems. Compared to other contractors I have hired to replace the roof, the furnace, and like work, this was not the greatest experience. But they did ultimately complete the job at a fair price.
Typically, when obtaining bids from contractors, there are many unknowns about the final costs - will the actual expenses match the bid?, will the project be completed on time?, - will the company representative be available and responsive to my phone calls and inquiries?, - will the contractor's work pass the city inspector's review?
James B. at Pipe Spy fulfilled these requirements and provided good services with excellent communication throughout the project. We had obtained other bids, but James B. was the most attentive and consistent with his work from the beginning of the job to its completion. I was impressed by his follow up after payment to verify that our landscape features had been restored to our satisfaction. Also, he was on time for all appointments.
For these reasons, I strongly recommend James B. at PipeSpy for sewer pipe inspection and upgrades.
After being told my clogged sewer line was broken and would require an $8,000 replacement, I called Pipe Spy to ask them to video the line. They said to call SF Sewer Dept. first to see if they could clear the line for free. They did so, solving the problem. Pipe Spy made no money on this. Afterwards, I asked them to video the now cleared line. They showed me a few offset joints which might over time cause a clog, but no breaks in the pipe and nothing which requires immediate attention. Thanks to them I didn't spend $8,000 on a new sewer line. Honesty, skill, and integrity are in short supply in this business, so I'm happy to have encountered Pipe Spy.
We had a sewer lateral replacement on our old Victorian with Pipe Spy last month. They were efficient, professional, dealt with all the permits in a timely way. They have a very hard-working crew who got the job done within the time we were counting on with no inconvenience to us. They stuck with their original estimate even though it took longer than they had estimated; our plumbing was old and challenging. Great customer service!
Robert F.I thought Pipe Spy was only for videotaping the inside of your sewer lines, how wrong I was. We've had a drainage problem at our house for about 6 months and I've called out all of the other plumbing companies, Roto-Rooter, RouterMan, each costing $200 - $300 dollars and it wasn't until Pipe Spy came out and within two hours found the problem, offered us a solution and helped us get it repaired the same day and did it for far less than the other two. I didn't know that Pipe Spy could to do all of the repairs. They are now my GO TO plumbing company!
Myles and his crew were great. We had an unfortunate situation where our sewer replacement didn't go as expected. They ran into some really tough soil and a lot of unexpected digging. A 1-2 day job turned into 7 days. It was just bad luck all around, but Myles didn't once complain or try to renegotiate his quote. He just sent his crew over day after day to get the job done right. They were professional and worked hard in a difficult situation.
