Company Overview
We are a local, family-operated plumbing and HVAC company that has proudly served Southern Arizona since 1981. Our years in service and the feedback we receive highlight our clients' appreciation for our work. Our plumbing services cater to both homes and businesses, handling everything from basic fixes to complex projects. Our approach focuses on reducing plumbing repair costs by addressing the issue directly rather than replacing entire systems, and we promise to never overcharge you. We uphold the same ethical standards in our HVAC services.
In 1981, Mike Motzkin launched Pioneer Plumbing from his garage and the trunk of his vehicle, turning his dream into reality. Today, we have expanded to a team of over 35 employees and maintain 11 service trucks to meet all your home repair needs.
Mike Motzkin, who grew up in Tucson, launched his plumbing career at TUSD and later founded Pioneer Plumbing Heating and Cooling.

Cassius arrived and immediately evaluated the job: remove/install a water heater. Cassius described the work to be done and listed the parts that would be required. Cassius had me sign the authorization for the work, which specified a start time of 8:43 AM, which I assume was the time he arrived on the property. The good: Cassius is fast, really fast. The job was completed at 9:33, or earlier, since that is the time I saw after walking inside the house. Extra good: Cassius knows his stuff and installed the heater to code, adding items that were absent from the previous heater: Gas drip, 3' pipe to from the pop-off valve, plus a new cold water supply valve, because the existing one did not work. Included in the work was removal of the old heater.
The bad: The work took less than an hour to complete; however, Cassius charged for the 10+ minutes that he spent completing the invoice, adding an additional $25 to the bill. I complained and Cassius was kind enough to supply a $15 coupon which dropped the labor from $122, to $107. I was happy. So why do I bother describing this? Because looking at the invoice later, I discovered that Cassius changed the ""in"" time on the invoice, after I authorized the work. He changed 8:43 to 8:38. He should have noted this and had me initial the change. The ""out"" time on the invoice reported 9:43 AM. Is it just coincidence that the change resulted in an extra $25 in labor??
Lesson learned: pay attention to the start and stop times, as a few minutes can mean a big difference.

Called to set an appointment, was told they would be here by 10am. At 11 had not heard from them, called and they said they were on the way. At 12 I called again and they said someone would be right there. Finally cancelled with them at 12:45 when no one had shown up and no phone calls from them. Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

This review is long overdue. I have used Pioneer Plumbing for several years now. They always show up on time and never fail to resolve the issue. They are transparent when explaining what additional work may need to be completed and their service reps are always polite and knowledgeable. Also, someone always answers the phone and if you have an emergency they'll do their best to get someone out to the property asap. The last technician that worked on the property, Raul Hernandez, updated me continuously as to the problems he found and what solutions could be taken. Additionally, this was an after-hours call and he called again in the morning as he said he would to inform me of the next step. I definitely recommend this company.

Our kitchen sink clogged up badly and Pioneer said they could get us in the same day late in the afternoon. When I realized we needed to attend a memorial service in the late afternoon, I called them back. I explained the situation and they bumped up our priority so the plumber was at our house about an hour later and took care of the stoppage right away. We truly appreciated their accommodation and would recommend Pioneer without a hesitation for their quality work and customer service.

I was very happy with the high quality expert work by Pioneer Plumbing. Cassius (on 3 occasions for various fixture replacements) was on time, fast, efficient, and did all my jobs in an excellent fashion!
Another plumbing company thought I would have to replace the piping in the house in order to get good water pressure again (a 5K job?). Not so, Cassius simply replaced the water shut-off valves and the pressure was back to full use after his swift work!

Don at Pioneer Plumbing impressed us from the first day he came to our house to give us a bid. He was professional, in a clean uniform, on time, and knowledgeable. We were remodeling our bathroom and changing all the fixtures in the shower, sinks, and tub. His crews had to come out a few times as each stage was completed. Each time, they were prompt, diligent, did a great job, and made sure the area was clean when they were finished. We were extremely happy with their work and the coordination Don did with us as the job progressed. We highly recommend them and are happy to know we have a great company to call for any future plumbing needs.

Our house was built in 2001 with what's called a ""manifold"" in the laundry room. The manifold is like an electrical box, except for water. Two big water lines go in (hot and cold), and a bunch of water lines go out, two for each faucet, one (cold) for each toilet, etc. Very handy. Ours started leaking, leaving a puddle on the floor.
Plumber #1: Bad news. Your plumbing is obsolete. Nobody uses this kind of manifold block anymore. And nobody uses this particular kind of plastic piping anymore, even though it's not the dreaded Polybutylene piping that caused so many problems.) We will have to re-plumb the whole house.
Plumber #2: Where are you? You said you'd be here, but you never showed.
Plumber #3: This fitting here at the top is loose, and it has some rust on it. I'll tighten it and see if it stops leaking. If it does, call us back and we'll replace it.. If it still leaks or if the leak is coming from elsewhere on the manifold block, we can replace it no problem. Really? The other guy wanted to re-plumb the whole house???
Plumber #4: Your appointment is Friday, sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Hey, Plumber #4? Never mind.
Thank you Plumber #3, Pioneer Plumbing!

After scouring ALL the reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, we finally decided on a plumber to call about an ongoing although not urgent plumbing issue. When that company never returned my call, we tried Pioneer.
Spoke with Nicole who got a team out that day. Even though I told her it certainly wasn't an emergency, she said it was no problem. They were actually able to come out earlier, which was great.
The team was professional, polite, and seemed to know what they were doing. They couldn't fix our issue (they think maybe it's septic related, ugh), but we were happy with their service.
The only downside, the price. The $127 bill was a bit high considering they couldn't help us and were here for maybe 20 minutes. But, shame on me for not asking what their fees were before booking them. Lesson learned. I'd say 4 stars for prompt friendly service, 3 stars factoring in price.

Here goes another saga in my life. If you read my review on Comcast you will know my frustration. You will also see how the day went for me and the tie in between no phone service and finally getting a plumber to fix a leak under a bathroom sink. Two weeks of dealing with Comcast having no phone service. Can call out but low and behold had no clue could not receive phone calls. End of that diatribe. So the sinks leaking big time. Hubby home attempting to get a plumber. I had some chores to do and luckily for me about a couple of blocks away I see this well equipped plumber's truck Pioneer Plumbing. Go back home, look on Yelp and see mostly good reviews. Called them up and spoke to some efficient office staff. I believe her name was Nicole. She said she would get in touch with the techs I saw on the street a few blocks away and tell him to contact us. Even though our phone was out the tech still showed up. His name was Ray. He checked the leak and promptly fixed it. We also had him install a new drain in that sink being we had an extra one on hand. I mentioned to him we had older pipes in the house and have not had any problems with major leaks. On a 20 year old house there could be some repiping issues that might need addressing. However, Ray suggested to us after checking the water pressure in our house which was registered at 90 lbs., far too much for the pipes. I have always thought about doing this because some neighbors do have them installed. Bringing the pressure to about 50 lbs. is a better choice. So we had the Pressure Reducer Valve installed. Ray went back to his office and got the copper piping and the valve. He very efficiently put it in. You can see from the way he spoke to us that he loved what he does and taught us so much about problems with plumbing. I asked a lot of questions about our 20 year old water heater which is still doing it's job but it is surely living on borrowed time. All in all, despite all the incompetency with Comcast. This rather crazy day ended on a good note. My husband also spoke with Danny who might be the owner. Not sure, but he was extremely pleasant to deal with for settling on a reasonable price. I just don't like to get screwed on price. Plumbing is not cheap, but you want it done and done right. You want to deal with people who care and follow up even when something didn't seem right. Ray took the chance to come to our address even though he got a "" Phone disconnect"" when he called and that was a good example of the efficiency of this whole outfit.

I had some temporary work and was told they would email me an estimate of the work needed to be done. Called them nine days later to remind them I was still waiting on an estimate. She told me it would be done immediately. I still haven't heard from them...
