Big fat FRAUD with mediocre, below-average work with the intent to scam your homeowner's insurance. They will demolish your house with unnecessary sloppy repairs to get more money through your insurance. They will exaggerate and do extremely unnecessary repairs - this has been certified by multiple third-party contractors (not ones that insurance picked). This is not a mitigation company - Randy is a fraud and con artist. He lies about past work and clients.

Randy uses his expertise of being an adjuster to scam your homeowner's insurance and you. This business is built around fraud instead of integrity and good-quality work.

You have been warned.

The full story is below, but for those without the time to read the saga of Pillar Resources and the Journey to the Devil's Deep Butt, here are the key highlights: Do not hire Pillar under any circumstances. These are not good people. They are dishonest, disrespectful, and an all around nightmare to work with.

I have never written a negative review in my life, I like to give people every benefit of the doubt. In the case of Pillar Resources however, I feel a moral obligation to write this if only to prevent others from being subjected to the TWENTY MONTH journey into the Devil's rusty butt that was our experience with this company.

We were told that repairs for the water damage in our house would take 2-4 months. Our house looked like Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's bedroom for 18 months.  Calls and e-mails would go unanswered for days, weeks, even months at a time. I could have taken the One Ring to the very fires of Mordor, destroyed it, and came back home in the time it took them to complete repairs.  And, frankly, I would have rather done that than deal with this. Half of our home and the master bath were literally unlivable for a year and a half. Even when they would actually show up, the work was done poorly, they installed the wrong tile in the bathroom, they installed hardwood where there was supposed to be carpet, and they damaged almost every wall in our home.

I wish I could say it ended there. But alas, dragging us into the Devil's dumptruck was not enough, they had to take us so far into the deep butt that we saw Hitler. This work was completed in 2019 and, at the time, Pillar felt genuinely bad for what they put us through and offered to waive our $1000 deductible so we would pay nothing out of pocket.  Now, THREE YEARS LATER, now that everyone involved with our project is long gone. Pillar has reached out to gouge us for this $1000 stating that the people who promised to waive our fee were not authorized to do so.

Do not...I repeat DO NOT use them for insurance covered work. Calls never returned. Workmanship messy. Work incomplete. Be aware that they give outside contractors your residential address so collection notices are sent, you recieve them, not Pillar. 2 years since loss and work still not completed. Thankful this is an insurance matter, otherwise we'd be screwed.

I highly recommend Pillar Resources as a general contractor. They just finished a complete home remodel for me- the entire kitchen, all new flooring, all new appliances, millwork throughout, window coverings, lighting, paint, etc. Their crew demonstrated professionalism, I completely trusted them in my home, and I was really impressed with their craftsmanship. They also handled packing up and storing all of my belongings during the construction phase. The project manager was present throughout the entire process, which really helped with all the details. They guided me along the design process and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I would absolutely use them again and have highly recommended them (and will continue to do so) to my friends and family.

WOW!!! I'm shocked by some of the negative reviews I encountered for pillar. Since I can't speak for other's, I can say that I DON'T share the same sentiments as some of the other pillar customers leaving reviews. With that said my experience with Pillar was short of fantastic. After meeting with Randy I hired pillar to do some renovations to my place. All in all job took about 3 weeks to complete. We encounter a little set back with material not arriving on time. However I felt Pillar did a great job communicating in a professional way with me every step of the way, keeping me involved as the project progressed. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

Agreed, worst contractor ever.

GARBAGE. I hope I can save one person from my fate. I made the mistake of working with both Pillar's contracting and flooring group. Both horrible. My dealings were with Pillar's CEO, Randy Brooks, as our GC. I get the impression he's simply not capable, and the customer ends up losing in the end.

You pay premium prices for Craigslist work. I've not heard from Randy in weeks, however they left a POD and a contractor's lock here. I've called POD, they said to talk to Pillar, which I attempted to do without response. I had to replace the doorknob to remove the lock box.

Background on Randy; he's an ex-insurance adjuster. He uses his exp to get you to trust him; that he can be helpful through the insurance process. Randy uses his knowledge to pack the quote with work that won't happen, but will sneak by your insurance. Charges for multiple PODS, for detaching/reattaching toilets / dishwashers / blinds / shelves, for crazy amounts of packing material and time. Fake charges.

The construction was poorly planned and managed. Randy was barely here. He came out one time when work started, sent non-English speaking employees for 2 weeks without supervision/management, then tried to wrap up; all without seeing his inept team's work. I sent Randy emails, pictures, and complaints every day; still wouldn't come out. I had to insist; telling Randy his people would not wrap up until he came out. When he did finally came out, he made excuses. I had to argue everything to get work that was close to acceptable. Paint was incomplete, drywall was poorly blended and patched (the entire perimeter of the house had to be redone), and the floors were unacceptable.

When Pillar did send employees out to fix things, they got here with no direction, no supervision, and no plan. The language barrier made it difficult to relay the issues I'd spent hours emailing and discussing with Randy. I was performing Randy's job and doing the General Contracting, missing days of work in the process. I asked many times for a plan; I believe he's incapable. Much of the work still looks amateur at best, but Randy is no longer speaking to me so I'll be forced to either have another contractor come in and correct issues or do it myself.

The worse part of this are my floors. Pillar was doing work after a flood, which destroyed my hardwood floors. Randy played our emotions, pushing this cheap vinyl plank flooring (Engineered Flooring vinyl is trash) after he'd quoted us for hardwood (we paid for hardwoods, and he never refunded the difference in price). He pushed vinyl as waterproof, knowing we had a flood and would lean toward waterproof. It would be waterproof, if Pillar could install it correctly. My floors are literally wavy; you can feel it when you walk on them (the picture posted showing the level not sitting flat on the floor). I'm embarrassed to have people over because it is so noticeable.

There's so much more detail, but the proof is in the pictures. There's pics of the fridge (they scraped the black finish off being careless while moving it) and planks that Pillar colored with a Sharpie to create the illusion of being fixed or installed correctly. There's pictures of the lawn they killed washing their gear. There's pictures of the uneven floor (the pic of the four-foot level...that should lay flat, not nearly an inch off the floor if the vinyl is installed correctly) and poorly laid planks. There's the damage to my couch. There's the pics from underneath the dishwasher where they were supposed to lay plank (they charged me $375 just to move the dishwasher, but it was never moved) but never did. There's pictures of the gaps Pillar left at the bottom of all of my doorways because they failed to account for the vinyl being much thinner than the hardwood. I literally have gb of pics and videos of all this crap.

After all of this...after Randy not contacting me for weeks, I post my review and all of a sudden I catch some stranger on my Ring Doorbell video sneaking around my house while I'm out. They open the POD, then turn around and leave. Then, three days later POD shows up out of nowhere to pick up the unit. I turned them away...Randy owes me A LOT of money. When Pillar wants to finalize the contract (settling any outstanding credits), we'll get the POD taken care of as well.

I normally don't write reviews but we had such a great experience with Pillar and Danny in particular, that I felt I needed to share. It was our first time with extensive water damage in our house of 19 years. A leaky toilet was discovered from the water that gathered in the light fixture on the floor below. It was Friday evening so we called one of the big plumbing services. The damage was extensive and covered two rooms downstairs as well as the bathroom upstairs. They recommended Pillar to come out to do the initial deconstruction and remove drywall. We were desperate and new to this sort of thing so we called and Danny came out within the hour. He showed us the damage and had two guys out that night taking down the walls until midnight. He sat us down to explain how it works. He was obviously experienced but never pushy or selling. He warned us that night that it could be a while to get back to normal - no false promises. After explaining that Pillar could handle everything we agreed that night to let him take the lead. We went to bed a little shellshocked but content knowing that in only few hours the water was stopped and all of the damp places were discovered and already drying out with fans. After that, Danny was true to his word. He submitted his estimates to the insurance company which were about 40% higher than theirs - And they accepted his estimates. His crew was professional and were there every day except Sundays for the next 3 weeks repairing and replacing everything. The damage to the bathroom was extensive and it had to be gutted. We ordered new tile, cabinets, counter tops and paint from his showroom. It was definitely an upgrade and we only ended up paying a small amount out of pocket (except our deductible of course) for the new quartz counters. When the crew laid the tile in the new bathroom the initial attempt did not look right. Danny, without us even asking had it redone and now it looks great. Our house and our lives were back together in less than 2 months!
I highly recommend them for damage control and repair. Danny made it as painless as possible.

Please read this review prior to choosing Pillar Resources, you may save yourself months of trouble, thousands of dollars, and a ton of headache. I wish I would have read Mike's review prior to chosing Pillar. I had a water damage issue back in August 2017. I hired Pillar at the recommendation of RotoRooters after they cleaned up the water. In hindsight I shouldn't have trusted this recommendation because I assume they have a partnership or are a kick back affiliate for RotoRooters. In any case, Pillar gave me the whole speech that they would advocate for me so I shouldn't use a company that is recommended by the insurance company. At first, everything seemed fine but then the delays started. The original project manager I was working with was removed from our project and our new project manager indicated delays in our project were to blame for him being removed. The new project manager had no idea what was going on and caused us a couple months of delays trying to figure it out. No proactive follow up was done and I had to text/call/email every time I wanted an update or anything to be done. Multiple times the crew would show up at our house without warning knocking at our door at 8AM and waking up my wife and our son. I asked multiple times to please let me know the schedule or to alert me if the crew was coming and nothing until they showed up that day. Meanwhile, our entire basement had no flooring, was covered in plastic, and our kitchen was torn apart. We started to get progress after 7 months of the original indecent. We finally had flooring installed after 8 months. We had hopes that our project would finally be wrapped up. Then 2nd project manager was fired by Pillar and so the owner had to step in. I was relieved that I was working with the owner, at this point 9 months had gone by with over 7.5 months of delay by Pillar. Unfortunately, my hopes would quickly be shot down as the owner now claimed that our project manager didn't identify things that still needed to be billed and he wouldn't progress the work until he had gone back to the insurance company. He had no concern for our situation and took no accountability for the complete disorganization and disfunction of the situation. I asked for a list of the items, I asked for a breakdown of cost on things, I asked for when we would start again. No response. I sent a detailed email to him outlining every delay with dates and details. I pleaded with him telling him I have a baby on the way in 8 weeks and to please get this project wrapped up. I received no response from the owner. I called twice, emailed once again and no response. He finally responded and we finally got on a conference call after 2.5 weeks after that initial email. He provided a breakdown of materials and they charge double the rate of any consumer supplier. He provided no apology and no attempt at trying to make things right. Lastly, our last project manager promised he would do things for us because of the hardship and delay Pillar had caused us. The owner quickly replied he would not do ""things for free"" and now that project manager is no longer with the company. Half of my house has been unusable for over 9 months, my kitchen torn apart, my 2nd bathroom torn apart. I am still fighting to get this project wrapped up but we are delayed again. This is the nightmare I can't seem to end. I wish I could give this company 0 stars. Please don't make the same mistake I made.

Worst. Contractor. Ever. We had water damage to one exterior wall. Our insurance hooked us up with these folks. Terrible experience. Very long story short, it took 11.5 months all told to correct a problem that should have taken 4-6 weeks tops. Workmanship was very hit and miss depending on who showed up to work. I am very knowledgeable at construction, so had to instruct sometimes, stop work others, and redo some of the work myself.

Building the house initially took 9 months from bare dirt to completed home. This was way too hard - I wish I had done it myself.
