Phillips Plumbing is our go-to plumber whenever we have a problem. Our house is pretty old, and we've been here a long time, so plumbing issues do come up. When we replaced a kitchen faucet, they discovered that the U-joint under the sink had almost rusted through, and replaced it on that trip in order to save us from a future calamity. Our bathtub fixtures inside the wall require a special kind of wrench that is not commonly found any more, so we now keep a set of those wrenches on hand which will stay with the house when we're gone.

Ralph and his son do great work and everything is clean and tidy when they are done. If there is a problem too big for them to handle, such as the time we had a major leak in the incoming water pipe under the front yard, they will have good recommendations for where to go next.

You'd probably never know about them if you didn't find them on Yelp, because they are so well known among the long-term residents of El Cerrito that they are busy enough not to need to advertise; newcomers mostly find them by asking neighbors for recommendations.

Ralph did two of those jobs, and he took time to explain in as much detail as I wanted just what the issues were. He is a true professional: very knowledgeable and personable. Ralph at Phillips Plumbing is the best! I can't recommend him/them enough. He's an expert in his trade and is the most pleasant, helpful and professional person. We have an old house that's accumulated several problems regarding the kitchen faucet, toilet, bathtub and bathroom sink. His estimates are reasonable and the subsequent work is outstanding. I hope we don't have any future plumbing problems in our house, but if we do, (Ralph) Phillips will definitely get our call!
